After testing the waters with re-creating Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, I've decided to go ahead and re-create a game with all sorts of missed potential. I'm of course referring to the mobile game Mario Kart Tour, the game that famously didn't have Luigi at launch and charged $40 for Diddy Kong. So, I wanted to do it justice as a Mario Kart mobile game and make it into a celebration of Mario's history.
How it works
Common | Super | High-End |
---|---|---|
|
|
|
Mushroom Cup | Flower Cup | Star Cup | Special Cup |
---|---|---|---|
Mario Circuit (based on the RC car courses from New Donk City) | Wooded Way (based on the Wooded Kingdom) | Lost Jungle (based on the Lost Kingdom) | Big Band Boulevard (based on the New Donk City Festival) |
Top Hat Town (based on the Cap Kingdom) | Lakeside Lagoon (based on the Lake Kingdom) | Nimbus Air Show (based on the Cloud Kingdom) | Honeylune Scenic Route (a 3-section race based on the Moon Kingdom, Underground Caverns and Bowser's Wedding) |
Fossil Falls (based on the Cascade Kingdom) | Snowline Circuit (based on the Snow Kingdom) | Ruined Road (based on the Ruined Kingdom) | Bowser's Castle (based on Bowser's Kingdom from Odyssey) |
Jaxi Junction (based on the Sand Kingdom) | Sparkling Seaside (based on the Seaside Kingdom, along with Sparkling Waters from NSMBU) | Volbono Avanti (based on the Luncheon Kingdom) | Rainbow Road (based on Rainbow Ride from Super Mario 64) |
- Coins are used to by Warp Pipes, which contain racers, karts and gliders
- Green Pipes (1,000 Coins) pretty much always draw from the Common rarity
- Gold Pipes (5,000 Coins) are more likely to draw from the Super rarity
- Rainbow Pipes (10,000 Coins) are more likely to draw from the High-End Rarity
- You can earn coins through gameplay through the following methods:
- Picking them up through races (either via an Item Box or picking up loose coins on the course)
- Performing tricks
- Hitting other racers with item
- Mini-turbos
- Dash Panels
- Having certain kart combinations that automatically increase your Coin count
- Essentially, Coins are the replacement for the points you earn in canon Tour. Earning a certain number of coins earns you a Grand Star, which nets you gifts
- You can also buy coins with real-life money, but that's the only thing buyable with real-life money
- $1.99 for 500
- $5.99 for 2000
- $12.99 for 5000
- $19.99 for 10,000
- $26.99 for 50,000
- $39.99 for 75,000
- $49.99 for 100,000
- If you pull the same racer, kart and/or glider multiple times, it instead increases their base Coin count.

How it works
- Naturally, you start of with the nitro course course the Tour is themed after. In this case, the Tour is themed around this game's Mario Circuit.
- Every subsequent retro course is chosen based on the nitro course of the Tour. Since this is out first Tour, feel free to pick any retro course within the following criteria:
- An SNES course
- An N64 course
- A GBA course
- A GCN course
- A DS course
- A Wii course
- A 3DS course
- A Wii U course
- 2 misc. retro courses (but you can't pick 2 from the same game for this slot)
- Tours are also elimination-based, with 8 players racing against each other
- To move onto Race 2, you need to place in 6th or better
- To move onto Race 3, you need to place in 4th or better
- To move onto Race 4, you need to place in 2nd or better
- Race 4 itself is a 1v1 race
- The courses that follow Race 1 are also split among multiple paths. Whichever path you travel depends on a coin flip after each race.
- If you get heads, you move along the upper path. The coin flip after Race 2A onwards can take you to either 3A (heads) or 3B (tails).
- If you get tails, you move along the lower path. The coin flip after Race 2B onwards can take you to either 3C (heads) or 3D (tails).
