A while ago, Capcom made a fighting game called Tatsunoko vs Capcom. It was received extremely well and left many wondering if they were gonna do a sequel with another anime/manga company.

In this creation thread, we’ll be imagining what would happening if they did do something like that with the manga publishing company Shonen Jump. A game people have been dreaming of for a while now! We’ll plan out the characters, stages and maybe even special moves and super combos.

So, right now, our roster looks like this:

Shonen Jump

The gameplay is essentially the same as the Marvel vs Capcom, with the same physics and assist system. In addition the Baroque mechanic from Tatsunoko vs Capcom is present.

Gameplay modes:
Arcade
Multiplayer
Online
Journey
Randomizer

Arcade Mode Boss:

Seto Kaiba (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
You heard that right. The fight takes place at the Kibacorp building, where it is revealed that the battles the player had been through in Arcade Mode where actualy part of a tournament set up by Kaiba himself in order to test the warriors of the two worlds.

And now the players have to face off against Kaiba himself. But he won't fight directly. For the first phase. Kaiba will unleash his favourite monster.

Blue Eyes White Dragon (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
The player will have to contend with the powerful beast. But even after the monster is defeated, its not over, as Kaiba unleashes his trump card:

Nergigante (Monster Hunter)

That's right. Somehow in the dimensional chaos, Kaiba has managed to gain control of the powerful elder dragon. This beast is extremely strong, putting up an intense fight

The Journey:
Similar to an arcade mode, but rather than being themed around a character, players set off on journey across a location on a little mini map. You do various themed fights. There are hidden roots with puzzles to do, I guess kind of like World of Light but without spirts. Rewards can be unlocked such as art, music and costumes

Randomizer
It’s a mode playable in multiplayer, arcade or non-ranked online. Pretty much, the game selects a random player for you and then whenever you switch out a character you get switched out with a completely random other character. Whenever you call an assist it is also a random character. The game will also automatically switch you out with a random character every 40 seconds if you haven’t already.

I feel like it would be a pretty fun casual mechanic to add to the already really chaotic gameplay of the vs series. It would also give an opportunity to try out a lot of new characters and would just be a pretty fun mechanic. It’s a pretty small mechanic so we would likely have another job later if this was added.
Anyways, more jobs will come later so be sure to respond to them when they do come!

Job #1: Submit two Shonen Jump newcomers and two Capcom newcomers. They can be any characters from any series, but keep in mind these newcomers will come at the initial announcement.

Job #1: Jotaro Kujo, Yusuke Urameshi, L̴̡̘̼̝͔̤̯͎̻̉̏͊̐̽͜͝É̴̛͈͇̲̣́͊O̵͇̙͙͓͍̽͆́̂̂̀͗Ṉ̴̜͇̥̹̤͕̪̺̲͕͊͒̌̉̋̈̊͗̕ ̸̝̦̲͇̔̀͘ͅŞ̶̩̻͉̭̗̤͍̻͐͘͝C̷̨͊͒̈́̿̕͠Ŏ̵͙̯̒̓͌̂̆͛̑͘͜͠T̵͕͎̲̩̗̬̥̼̝̼̊̃̃̾́T̵͙͓̠̱̖̞̻̤̟̤̿̅͊̿̓͝ ̵̛̤̟͔̮͍͎̣̤̫̓͑͛̈̿͛͂ͅK̵̡̮͔̲͎̳͚̣͒͛̔̈́͊͜Ḛ̵̞̜̑́͑̈́̕̚N̵̨̰̼͕͔̟̜͂̃͌̔̐̏̕͝N̶̢̛̹̫̱̞͉̜̔͆̐̅́̚͠͝Ẽ̸̡̡̧̛͎̮̿͠Ḑ̶̢̛͕̖͍̹̯̟͛̿͛͒̋̓͝Ÿ̸̹͖͔̯̭͎͓̘́, and Sissel

Job 1A: Jotaro Kujo
1617901372647.png

Jotaro Kujo is the protagonist of JJBA Part 3 Stardust Crusaders, and is the most recurring Jojo in the series. Jotaro is from the most popular and arguably most important JJBA Part (for introducing Stands) and is a fan favorite. Best part is since he was already in a fighting game, his moveset would be easy to come up with.

Job #1B: Yusuke Urameshi
1617929895059.png

Yusuke Urameshi is the ghost-bustin' detective of Sarayashiki Junior High, who loves a good up close and personal battle but will use his spirit guns if needed. Yusuke would be a fast mix of long range and close combat fighting, with the only downside of him being a balance-reason gimmick that makes it so his spirit energy must recharge to use the powerful specials (probably a second meter that allows Yusuke to use Spirit energy like Spirit Gun, Spirit Shotgun, Spirit Wave, and Spirit Punch for examples).

J̶̯̞̆O̸̫͉͍͔̯̹͔̎͋̅͋̄͆͊̃͘̕͝B̶͕̞̘͓́͐͐̋͂̔̂̇̎̇̏ ̴̢̧̢̻̞͓͇̜̫̳̺́͒͂͘͝͝͝#̵̧̦͍͈͚̤̈̂̀̈́̅̚͠͝1̴̢̺̖̺̙̤̫͖̺̓̄C̶̳̬͙̤͚̪͍͎̜̱̿͗̏̑̓͆̓͘͝:̸̦͖̙̱̗̜̋ ̸̛̤͋L̴̡̘̼̝͔̤̯͎̻̉̏͊̐̽͜͝É̴̛͈͇̲̣́͊O̵͇̙͙͓͍̽͆́̂̂̀͗Ṉ̴̜͇̥̹̤͕̪̺̲͕͊͒̌̉̋̈̊͗̕ ̸̝̦̲͇̔̀͘ͅŞ̶̩̻͉̭̗̤͍̻͐͘͝C̷̨͊͒̈́̿̕͠Ŏ̵͙̯̒̓͌̂̆͛̑͘͜͠T̵͕͎̲̩̗̬̥̼̝̼̊̃̃̾́T̵͙͓̠̱̖̞̻̤̟̤̿̅͊̿̓͝ ̵̛̤̟͔̮͍͎̣̤̫̓͑͛̈̿͛͂ͅK̵̡̮͔̲͎̳͚̣͒͛̔̈́͊͜Ḛ̵̞̜̑́͑̈́̕̚N̵̨̰̼͕͔̟̜͂̃͌̔̐̏̕͝N̶̢̛̹̫̱̞͉̜̔͆̐̅́̚͠͝Ẽ̸̡̡̧̛͎̮̿͠Ḑ̶̢̛͕̖͍̹̯̟͛̿͛͒̋̓͝Ÿ̸̹͖͔̯̭͎͓̘́
1617930832282.png

Leon Kennedy is the protagonist of Resident Evil and the crossover games now, his moveset would consist of moves so that he can fight. Leon should get in to make a planet angery.

Job #1D: Sissel (Ghost Trick: Spirit Detective)

Honestly don't know much about him, he just looks neat and I thought it'd be funny to submit 2 Spirit Detectives.

Ok This looks like fun.
Shonen Jump Characters
Job #1:
1. Asta from Black Clover!!
black-clover-asta-buff-post-timeskip-spade-kingdom-arc-anime-1251488-1280x0.jpg

Asta is the Main Protagonist of Black Clover which is one of Shonen Jump's most popular series right now. His Moveset would be very great.

2. Izuku Midoriya
e8cd48911cbbb2c64c0dfb0708415034.jpg

My Hero Academia is extremely popular and Izuku wouldn't be that hard to put in a Fighting Game.

Capcom Characters

Chun Li
05e.png

It's Chun Li. It wouldn't be a Capcom Vs without her.

Viewtiful Joe
download.jpg

Joe is awesome and his moveset is going be VIEWTIFUL!!

I hope I did this right.

Good submissions, everyone. We’ll wait a bit longer for more people to submit characters. In the meantime, I'd like to submit a couple:

Capcom:
Juri

Image result for juri street fighter

Juri is a character from Super Street Fighter IV, who has become extremely popular and has sorta acted like the "Street Fighter IV" rep in a lot of crossover games like Project X Zone. She's even the sole Street Fighter IV character who has a spirit in Smash. I think it would make a lot of sense for her to get in.

Lady

Image result for lady dmc

Lady is a character from the Devil May Cry series. She is very important to the series, and hasn't been playable in any fighting games so she would be a good pick.

Shonen Jump:
Tanjiro
Image result for tanjiro demon slayer

Demon Slayer is one of the best selling manga series ever. Tanjiro is rather new, but still he's already extremely popular and his series was once even considered to be in the "Modern Big 3" of Shonen Jump along with Black Clover and MHA. He's an absolute no-brainer for a Shonen Jump crossover. Heck, just look at all the people pissed that he's not in Jump Force...

Vegeta
Image result for vegeta

Goku's rival and former enemy, Vegeta almost always accompanies Goku in crossovers and is a fan favorite character.

PS Keep in mind, that some of these characters may appear to be "safe" picks, which is fair. We will get to more interesting characters later, but for now we need to add some of the essential characters since this is a new series

So, submissions for job #1 will continue for about the next five hours. In the meantime, I’d like to start Job #2.

Job #2 Submit a Shonen Jump series from the “Big Three” (Dragon Ball, One Piece or Naruto) and a Capcom stage from Street Fighter, Devil May Cry or Darkstalkers. Please submit an image of the stage.

My submissions:

Gizard Wasteland (Dragon Ball)
66401F81-3018-4BC9-8206-C6807655263F.jpeg
The iconic wasteland where Goku and Vegeta fought in the Saiyan saga.

England (Darkstalkers)
1618178421306.jpeg

This stage has a really good atmosphere in my opinion, and I think it would represent the spookiness of Darkstalkers quite well.

Job #2

My submissions

Shonen Jump Stage
Enies Lobby - One Piece
maxresdefault.jpg

Enies Lobby is one of the most Iconic locations in One Piece and I do believe that it deserves to be a Stage. This is the place where one of the best arcs in all of anime took place.

Capcom Stage

Suzaku Castle - Street Fighter
street-fighter-v-suzaku-castle-stage.jpg

Suzaku Castle is iconic you cannot just not put it in. It's a well known fighting game location. The Stage itself is pretty cool.

Job #1:

Capcom:

Chris-Redfield.png

Chris Redfield
Chris Redfield is one of the main faces of the Resident Evil series. Chris has been fighting Umbrella for as long as he can remember, his years of experience and ability to wield firearms of all varieties makes him an asset on the battlefield...and if that doesn't work, Chris' pure arm strength is sometimes enough to put his enemies down for good anyway!

I'd probably default him into his Resident Evil 5 look, but with the upcoming Resident Evil 8, perhaps he could go for his older look as an alt?

--------------

Phoenix-Wright.png

Pheonix Wright
Pheonix Wright is far from what you'd consider a traditional fighter...but that just makes his inclusion all the more amusing. 'Nick' has been in a fair few scraps over the years, but he ALWAYS brings those who face him to justice.

--------------------------

Shonen Jump

Gon.png

Gon Freeces
HunterXHunter's protagonist and often considered a series that breaks down Shonen tropes.

This dark series needs it's lead protagonist included. Gon's endless power and optimism may seem like typical shonen fare but...well...it's a little more twisted than you may think.

Senku.png
Taiju.png

Senku Ishigami (& Taiju Oki)
Lead of Dr. Stone.

Senku's 10 billion percent not a typical fighter...in fact he wears out quickly and is far from the most physical person in his own series but he's incredibly cunning and fights with his incredible knowledge of science which has proven time and time to overcome seemingly unsurmountable odds.

Would likely come with his best friend, and the first person he revived in the stone world Taiju Oki as his willing meat shield, since Taiju doesn't enjoy fighting but can absolutelytake severe punishment for Senku and does so willingly for his brainy but frail buddy.

Okay, so voting will now commence on the new characters for the reveal of Shonen Jump vs. Capcom. Please vote for your top 3 characters in order with 1 being worth 3 points, 2 being 2 points, and 3 being 1 point. You can vote for your own submission but only in third place.

Voting for job #2 will commence once we get more submissions. Anyways, here are my votes:

1. Jotaro
2. Deku
3. Yusuke

1. Leon
2. Chun-Li
3. Phoenix Wright

Keep in mind if a character is not voted for now, they can be resubmitted in later jobs.

Wait, how many characters are going to be added during this voting process? Like, is it something like 2 (1 character each company), 4, or any random number.

Anyway, onto voting

We will add four, since each person submitted four characters. The system of voting for the top three characters is just the standard way of voting

You can only vote for one of your own submissions, and it has to be in third place. And no, you don't have to only choose one character from each submission unless it's your own

Oops, forgot to vote:

SJ:
1. Deku aka Midorya. My Hero Academia is far too big a deal to skip over IMO. Probably the closest series to 'The big three' status left open by Naruto and Bleach's ending.
2. Tanjiro. Briefly overtook One Piece in sales. That's amazing. Apparently Japan wants him in Smash, similar to how Goku gets mentioned all the time over here.
3. Jotaro. Not familiar with Jojo myself, but it's left quite the impression and should be included IMO.

Capcom:
1. Chun-Li. It's not a Capcom crossover without her. Please ignore she's not in Smash. It's weird and I don't like it.
2. Viewtiful Joe. A blast from the past, with plenty of style to spare.
3. Chris Redfield. Look, I know Smash fans tend to like Leon(and Jill) more but I'm just far more of a Chris kinda guy.

I struggled between voting for him or Senku from my own votes, but I feel Chris would be the bigger omission from a Capcom X Shonen Jump crossover.

Well, here are the votes for Job #1:

Asta: 4
Jotaro: 8
Deku: 7

Yusuke: 1
Vegeta: 2
Tanjiro: 2
Leon: 3
Chun-Li: 8
Phoenix Wright: 6

Sissel: 1
Chris: 3
Viewtiful Joe: 3

As such, the characters we will add are Jotaro, Deku, Chun-Li and Phoenix Wright! Thanks for the submissions, everyone!

Keep in mind, submissions for Job #2 are still open, so submit a stage for that if you would like to.

Job #3 will start soon.

Job #3 Vote on Jotaro’s Stand Mechanic

So, back in the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventue fighting game Capcom made, all the characters (Except Young Joseph) had a stand mechanic, and I’m wondering if we should keep the mechanic or have Jotaro fight using his stand in a different way.

For those of you who don’t know, a stand is the main ability that characters have in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. They usually appear as ghostly spirits, although some are bound to objects. They each have completely different abilities, and some can do really crazy things. Jotaro’s stand, Star Platinum, has extreme speed, fast reflexes and can
Stop time

Anyways, in the fighting game each character could fight either with or without their stand. When your stand was out, the stand would fight alongside you, making you much more powerful and having access to special moves. However, you had a stand meter which would rapidly deplete as long as your stand was out, and it would stun you and leave you vulnerable if completely depleted, so you have a button to turn your stand off. Your meter increases if your stand is off.

A1DF87A3-398F-42CD-9E53-43761E63C531.jpeg

I will set up the poll in a few minutes, so please vote wether or not you want this stand mechanic to return in Shonen Jump Vs Capcom.

Submissions for Job #2 will continue for the next five hours.

Job #3: ☐Yes ☐Definitely ☑Absolutely!!

JoJo's is a very unique series that stands out among others. At first it seems more like pure battles with no mind and just harder punch wins, but JoJo's is actually smarter and more about mind games (at least past part 1, part 1 is pretty dumb). JJBA's Battles are more about who can outsmart the other and using everything they got. This is why I think a Stand mechanic works, you can't just have it out all the time, you have to think about when's a good time to have it out.

I may be explaining myself badly, but what I'm trying to say is I think the Stand Mechanic is much needed depth for a character that otherwise would be too strong while also making you feel like you have to think to get the upper hand.

I'm just going to make this stage gimmicky as all hell. Literally, this is ALL of One Piece's hell equivalent:

Job 2: Impel Down (One Piece)

Note to mods: Apologies about the amount of pics here, but I think they're needed to get across the layout.
Impel-Down-1.png

Impel Down is the most secure prison in all of One Piece and possibly all of Shonen.

A multi leveled prison hell scape, each floor is a bigger and worse torture than the last, and depending on the criminal's bounty/threat level depends where in this horrible place they end up...so let's send our hapless fighters spiraling down into the depths of this multi-levelled hell!

Level 1: Crimson Hell
Level-1---Crimson-Hell.png

This is where the lowest bountied and least threatening pirates are taken to be tortured...see those red trees? They're stained red with blood. Both the trees and grass in this area are made of incredibly sharp blades and the guards force the prisoners to run laps over the sharp grass every day...

So this is where our fighters start! For the sake of fairness, we'll forgo the grass in this area and stick to just bladed trees on either side as a stage hazard. You can punch, kick, blast or throw your opponent into the trees for additional damage.

After enough damage has been done on this stage, the ground will crumble away, and fighters will be dropped into...

Level 2: Beast Hell
Level-2---Wild-Beast-Hell.png

Slightly more sinister villains end up here, forced to run the corridors constantly from man eating beasts and highly venomous scorpion monsters. It's designed to break the spirits of the prisoners as they're forever being hunted by monsters should they dare to leave their cages...even though their cage doors are constantly left open.

Luckily you can dodge the periodic human faced lion monster Manticore that run past(or smash them out of the way), but after a set amount of time the Basilisk(pictured above) or the Sphinx turn up...and then they'll smash the ground doing huge damage if you're directly underneath their attack. After they break the floor the fighters are sent to...

Level 3: Starvation Hell
Level-3---Starvation-Hell.png

In this desert like land, prisoners are fed little water and food and the heat that rises from the floor below is utterly unbearable. Food and recovery items(if they're in the game-I'm still not 100% sure on if that will be the case) will appear less on this part of the stage, and special bars/super bars take longer to raise.

However, once the players cause enough chaos and damage the floor will crumble beneath them giving way to...

Level 4: Blazing Hell
Level-4---Blazing-Hell.png

This is where the truly deadly criminals end up, forced to constantly feed fuel into this gigantic boiling lava and prisoners are regularly tortured by being thrown into the pit.

Fighters will fight on a steel bridge, as lava erupts around them occasionally dropping lava globs onto the bridge, which will cause burn damage to anyone unlucky enough to be caught on it.

Eventually the bridge breaks after enough damage occurs, and our fighters fall past the pot(somehow) and into...

Level 5 - Freezing Hell
Level-5---Freezing-Hell.png

This level has the opposite problem, it's too damn cold. Worst of all there are vicious man eating wolves.

These wolves are far more terrifying than the beasts in Beast Hell...they were sent here because they kept EATING the other monsters. They'll no doubt come to attack you, although you CAN defeat them with well timed attacks.

Somehow survive long enough and the stage will be sliced in two by the newkama revolutionary Inazuma, a character who can produce scissors for hands, and the fighters fall into...

Level 5.5: Newkama Land!
Level-5.5---Newkama-Land.png

Congratulations candies! You somehow made it through those layers of hell into a seeming paradise! Stage shows, no stage hazards and plenty of items.

Ivankov(purple afro dead center), will use his hormone ability to power up the fighter at a disadvantage with a HUGE power boost and heals you to full health! Great, right?

Well yes, but also no...because the downside is that health bar rapidly decreases even if you don't do anything...so you better hope you can pull off a victory before the hormone boost runs out and your health becomes totally drained!

We could drop down to Level 6 where the most dangerous villains who the government want erased are kept but there's no real torture theme in there.

Could include cameos for the prisoners Buggy, Mr. 3, Mr. 2 and Mr. 1 if they're not assist trophy equivalents/playables, depending on the mechanics chosen in this particular game.

Magellan, Minotauros, Minokoala, Minorhinoceros, MinoZebra, Hannyabel and Sadi-Chan for the the torture staff can cameo in the backgrounds too.
------------------------------------

Capcom stage to come at a later point.

Right so, I was gonna wait a bit longer for the results of the poll, but it looks like the results are a unanimous yes, so we're keeping his stand mechanic exactly as it worked in the fighting game. I know I said there were five hours left for Job #2, but I've realized that's not really much time, so I'll just extend the submission period a little bit. Once voting is over for Job #2, Job #4 will start.

Capcom Stage:

Okay, I'll level with you, I'm not massively familiar with either Devil May Cry OR Dalkstalkers(Resident Evil and Dead Rising are more my wheelhouse), so my only option here is Street Fighter...and since the castle is already taken, I'll choose another iconic stage:

THE BONUS STAGE
Car Destruction stage.jpg

Yeah, that's right. The car destruction bonus stage.

Taking place in a petrol station, the car in between the fighters is completely destructable. FIGHT!

Job #4 Submit a Classic (Before 1990) Shonen Jump Character

I would like for us to choose a Shonen Jump character to represent the older side of SJ. You can submit any Shonen Jump character just as long as their first appearance was before 1990.

Job 4:
There is really only a few characters that is considered both old and legendary by most Shonen Jump Fans. This is a Character that inspired Dragonball, Jojo, and pretty much almost every other Shonen out there. The Main Protagonist of Fist of the North Star. Kenshiro.
kenshiro-fist-of-the-north-star.jpg

Kenshiro is basically the Superman of Shonen Manga. He is the guy that started it all. His Impact is immense and he even has influenced things outside of manga. For Example Mortal Kombat's fatalities were inspired by Fist of The North Star. Overall I believe Kenshiro is a good choice for an old character.

Kin_Kinnikuman_4.png

Legendary wrestler Kinnikuman (1979 - 1987)
Even if you haven't seen this man in action, you've liked watched his son star in 'Ultimate Muscle'.

Suguru is...not a particularly standard protagonist. He's lazy, arrogant and childish and lecherous...however when push comes to shove 'Kinnikuman' has proven himself a true hero with a noble heart who will step up and save the day.

Fun fact: Eiichiro Oda created reoccurring One Piece easter egg character Panda Man to enter a fan competition for Kinnikuman.

If you don’t mind, I’d like to submit my own:

40B62B93-691D-4EBF-BCC8-5B46248949EA.jpeg

Kid Goku
A lot of the time, crossovers tend to skip over the original part of Dragon Ball, so I think adding him would set this apart from the other crossovers. There are a lot of people who prefer the original Dragon Ball to Z, so I think he would be a good pick. Given the difference between the two series, his moveset would be almost completely different from the Goku we already have.

4. Ichigo
5. Jotaro
6. Deku

I definitely want more classic Dragonball characters (Krillin and Piccolo at least) but I Super is published in V Jump, and is on the Shonen Jump App. It's just not in Shonen Jump as part of the weekly serials, so I guess it's dependant on what we classify that as?

This is an interesting idea, but unfortunately we probably wouldn’t have that much roster space for one series.

Anyways, sorry about the longer than usual submission period. Submissions for Job #4 will continue for about four hours before we will move on.

And that’s all the time we have for Job #4, and votes for Job #2. Here are the results of the vote:

Enies Lobby 6
Gizard Wasteland 6

Impel Down 5

Bonus Stage 7
England 6
Suzaku Castle 7

I’ll start a poll later on to break the ties so we can finally add a new stage. For now, I ask you to please submit your votes for Job #4. Thank you!

My votes:
1. Kenshiro
2. Kinnikuman
3. Kid Goku

(A little weird that we have three characters starting with K but alright lol)
