Smash WiiU & 3DS director Masahiro Sakurai says "Pic of the day. Here's Link in an outfit based on his ordinary clothes in Skyward Sword! The art style looks a little different, but the actual clothing model is still his usual tunic."

I like the tunic, but Link's face looks a bit odd and angry. If they gave him the Skyward Sword tunic, why not change his facial features to fit? This Link just looks like a strange mix of SS and Twilight Princess Link

Seriously, I hope this doesn't count as Link's alternate costume. He deserves a better costume, like Ocarina Link for example. The least they could have done here was remove the cap.

I don't know why this Skyloft costume annoys me this much. It just does.
Maybe it's because they didn't remove the cap or change his belt.
It just seems like one of those minor-change color swap costumes, like Daisy.
If you're going to do an alternate costume, why not finish the job instead of stopping halfway?

The hat is part of the hero clothes and shouldn't be combined with the common townfolk's clothes...

While I do agree with other posters that there are other options for alt costumes for Link, I kind of expected we'd get something from Skyward Sword. We've seen a lot of Skyward Sword references really. But characters could easily receive more than one alt costume, so no need to panic. The palette swaps for characters in the demo could easily be replaced by alt costumes

I don't like the hat much either, but I assume it was put on there for simplicity's sake. With the hat, they don't have to worry about animating the rest of Link's hair under there. It would be a lot of extra effort to waste on removing Link's hat.

As much as I think the hat is unnecessary, it's nice they're keeping the chainmail beneath his tunic, which really stuck out to me in SS. Unlike most games, these weren't traditional clothes that the hero of legend once wore--these were battle clothes worn by knights. SKY knights.

It's that they didn't started to make it an alternate costume, but kinda stopped halfway, and didn't change the hat or belt.

What are you talking about? Sakurai is clearly biased in Twilight Princess favor. Both Link and Zelda designs are from TP, SS only got one stage and a one item.

I just disaprove the idea of a combination between differents Links-Zeldas.
Another example is Zelda Phantom, thats terrible.
