I think he meant newcomers... there are still some of the veterans not shown like Captain Falcon and Ganondorf... If we look at how many veterans are still not shown and how much we already have lined up by now, there's a small chance there will be many more reveals... 3 months to go...

This is how I put it, Smash Bros Brawl had 12 character reveals before the game came out but altogether, have 4 unlockable newcomers that no one knew about. I think that'll be the case here, we have 9 newcomers. We'll probably get 1-2 more before the game is released and then the max amount of unlockable newcomers I'm guessing is 5-6.

The cannon really isn't worth a pic of the day, it just corresponds with your mii's base color, I want more stages and cooler alt costumes in the pic of the days xD.

Wario - because Ashley is an assist trophy, so it would be very odd for them to include her while at the same time removing Wario as a playable character.

Ness - because the Franklin Badge and Mr. Saturn are still in the game, so it would be very odd for them to leave the Earthbound items but remove the most iconic Earthbound character (especially since he's been in every Smash so far.)

Game&Watch - because he appeared in the Pac-Man video.

One of the F-Zero characters ("samurai gorch," i think, i might be wrong) was shown in April as an assist trophy, along with the polar bear from Ice Climber as a Smash Run enemy. That's two more.

So I think we can reasonably expect Ness, Captain Falcon, Wario, Ice Climbers, and Mr. G&W. Every other veteran character is up in the air, although Falco, Ganondorf, and Jigglypuff have a very good chance of getting in too despite the fact that they have not been hinted at.
