Despite only having two English releases, Earthbound/Mother is one of the most classic and beloved video games of the modern era. Featuring two kids with PK (or PSI) powers as fighters and a whole cast of other characters involved, the series has been prominent in Smash since day one. Since the opening poll always discusses the roster, the opening topic will be....

Which of the following villains would you like to see as a fighter in Smash?

I feel like Porky is a decent choice. Whilst I'm not massively keen on Mother getting more representation(slightly bitter about how long it took for the UK to get Earthbound and how the west isn't ever going to get MOTHER 3 officially), Porky does connect the stories of Ness and Lucas together well and even has prior Smash history.

I would like to see Giygas as a boss, because it would in all likelihood be quite the spectacle. A nightmarish, nigh-incomprehensible spectacle, but a spectacle nonetheless.

Porky Minch is the main influence on the world in Mother 3 as the big antagonist while being the secondary antagonist in EarthBound/Mother 2. He is a lonely boy whom only wanted Ness to be his friend, but was also mischievous with an ego, and became under the influence of the crazed Giygas.

Porky, while not appearing in Ninten's story, connects the stories of both Lucas and Ness, with some items in Mother 3 that are kept in Porky-related locations being references to Ness.

Porky could have an interesting moveset, using PSI Counter Shield, some moves from his boss fight in Brawl but toned down to fit a fighter, and even "What did Porky do?!" where he may throw bombs (slices of bright-yellow cheese!). He could even use some sort-of spray on enemies, though I'm not sure what it'd do to be honest; I forgot exactly what it did in Mother 3 when he used it, but I think it gave the characters Nausea. Of course, there's whatever his mech could do as well.

Porky's bed-mech is actually not as big as it is in Brawl, and really isn't much bigger than Porky himself so it should work with him as a fighter, perhaps making the whole character around Bowser's size. We could even go with EarthBound Porky in his spider-mech, and get an awesome remix of Porky Means Business!

Masked Man could be interesting, but he has no personality until the very end of the game; otherwise, he's just "Porky's slave robot." Giygas could work if he's added as Giegue, and would be cool as well, but I'd still go with Porky.

I'd probably just like Giygas as a Mewtwo echo.
While EarthBound is my favorite series, I'm well aware it's a very niche trio of titles, so even getting an echo fighter would be incredible.
Porky would be an unique fighter, but I'm thinking those might be better invested in other series.

Giygas as a Mewtwo echo wouldn't be a bad idea IMO, but I think echoes have to be of the same series. I think.

Ninten as a ness echo would be cool. Or they could make him a semi clone or even his own fighter to unite the trio in 3 slots.

There's no true rules about echo fighters, just stuff fans make up based on what they've seen so far.

I wouldn't mind Ninten, but visually he's so similar to Ness, I think I'd prefer him to just be a costume for Ness, along the lines of Alph for Olimar. The announcer calls out a different name and he has different voice clips. The only issue is the Final Smash, but I suppose Paula and Poo could be replaced by Ana and Lloyd/Teddy.

I saw a good argument that suggested Ninten would have different color patterns on his shirt to look apart from ness. There's also some images of him wearing a different kind of hat.

I think Giegue would deserve to be a semi-clone rather than a full echo - if nothing else, imagine a FS themed around the nightmarish Mother 2 Giygas.

He could use PK Beam, 4th-D Slip, and maybe OffenseUp or DefenseUp, along with PK Fire, maybe PK Freeze, and PK Thunder because of Ana. I don't see him using PK Flash, though that's pretty much because that move isn't in the first Mother.

Not sure what his final smash would be, but I did see an idea someone had about a cutscene where Ninten starts bashing the opponent with his bat, Ana joins in with PSI attacks, and then Lloyd and Teddy come in with a tank while Ninten and Ana get out of the way.

Imagine that Gyigas is a boss in Spirits.

I would like a playable Porky too.

Porky was s tory boss in Brawl. i wonder if they brought him back. It Spirits does still have bosses, I wouldn't be opposed to some Earthbound/Mother characters as bosses.

Porky being in Smash makes a ton of sense, just given how significant he is to the Mother games and how he functions as a foil to Ness in a lot of ways. It would be interesting to see a moveset that use more mechanics from the Mother series like buffs/debuffs and status effects, or even having attacks that reference different chimaeras (rhinocerocket anyone?) or even summon pork troopers.

Masked Man I feel is more significant to Mother 3 than to the series as a whole, but he would definitely make for a very different moveset on a Mother character. My only issue would be a lot of his melee attacks would probably resemble Meta Knight a lot.

Other mention I don't see in the poll above: Fassad/Yokuba. Extremely hateable, but a fantastic villain nonetheless.

Also, as someone who didn't enjoy the first Mother that much, I would be very unexcited about a Ninten echo, even moreso if he were a semi-clone. If anything, I wish Kumatora were added as a semi-clone of Lucas. Sure, Lucas is already a semi-clone of Ness, but if Chrom can be a semi-clone of a semi-clone...
But w.e., I'm happy enough with the fact she's even in the game at all, even if it's just in Lucas's final smash. Unlike poor Duster who is MIA.

ANY character could be a semi-clone to a full unique newcomer, but we're still all happy Dark Samus is here.
If EarthBound ever gets another fighter, it's gonna have to be an echo fighter, and even then that's a long shot.

Also Nintens Final Smash should be EVE.

Pokey to me is bad localization. It's not a regional difference.

It's obvious from the character names that the Minch brothers are supposed to be Porky and Piggy, and Mother 3 being so... Pork-based... makes it even more obvious that this was the intent all along.
Pokey just happened because that's what Japanese "porky" would sound like.

Porky is probably one of the most important Mother characters. He plays a big role in both Earthbound and Mother 3, so I'd say he's the go-to villain for the Mother franchise. After that? Masked Man. Giegue could work, but not in his Giygas form. That'd be better off as his Final Smash.

I saw an interesting idea on the porky support thread suggesting that Porky wouldn't be in one of his machines, but instead have a Doc-Oc style of 4 arms extending out of his back. Similar to how Bowser Jr. is in the clown car.
