It's the Jappanese name for Earthbound. In fact Earthbound is actually Mother 2. There was a Mother 3 in Japan, so I have no ideal if they are actually going to consider bringing in a new character from that game.

Also anybody else think a story mode for Smash Bros would kinda rule? I mean, It seems dumb but cmon... give it a chance... you'd like it

That's dumb, what they're going to put in it, Mario rescuing Zelda and Peach? Ganondorf and Bowser working together? Pikachu and Samus teaming up? It'd never work.

Lol, somebody forgot about Twin Snakes, the Gamecube only remake of MGS 1.

And besides, Spyro and Crash aren't sony anymore after Naughty Dog and Insomniac lost their rights. Sony literally has nobody right now, they'd have to throw up a roster full of random first parties if they were going to have to make their own smash clone.

The **** you talking about, MGS has never been on a Nintendo console.
Also, I can bet you $100 Sony owns and will always own the rights to Spyro and Crash. They're like their Mario and Luigi.

I'm still questioning how useful Parrying is. I have no idea how strict the timing is and the footage I've seen has shown the invincibility is minimal and you can't punish multi hits with it(Ridley parried Inkling's jab but the Jab just kept going and hit Ridley)

Gee it's almost like jabs are the 'super fast attack' option for a large chunk of the cast.
In all seriousness I saw some videos of Dr. Mario parrying recoveries and killing with down smash meaning that it can be a real game changer

Wii Fit Trainer doesn't fight. It's impossible for her to get in, like Miis and an Animal Crossing character. We'll get fighter characters from series like Golden Sun, you'll see.

That's because Nintendo owns most of the franchises and characters that made their system what it is...
Unlike Sony, as most Playstation icons are third party franchise that were pretty tough to nab...

Also, Smash had a much larger budget, meaning that the bigger third party characters were easier to acquire for it...

To add to this. I would go as far to claim that Nintendo is the one that keeps the industry evolving. Nintendo is always looking for innovation. Sometimes it Works, sometimes it doesnt but no one can claim that Nintendo doesnt take some risks. As long as they keep this thoughts, we can get cool stuff like the switch. (And force others like play to cpoy them at the very least)

Funnily enough, Ridley has always been there in Smash like Charizard, King Dedede and Piranha Plant. Are there any characters left that have been in every iteration of smash and arent playable now?

Jeff, Paula, Poo (if you count the Wii U and 3DS versions as the same) and some of the Poké Ball summons, like Snorlax.

All the fighters perish at once in “World of Light,” but there wouldn’t be much of a story if one of them didn’t survive. So why did I choose Kirby? “It must be because you created the Kirby series!” …I thought you might say that. But from a game design perspective, and based on process of elimination, Kirby was the obvious choice.

We needed a solid, convincing reason for why said character could outrun Galeem. All fighters possessing “normal” abilities were immediately disqualified. Given that its assault enveloped the ends of the galaxy, only a vehicle that could defy the laws of physics would work. Even short-distance teleportation wouldn’t be enough.

Some of you may have forgotten, but Kirby’s Warp Star has been able to, y’know, warp since his very first game. That alone made him a pretty solid contender. The only other two fighters that could have survived would have been Bayonetta or Palutena. That said, Bayonetta’s enemies from Purgatorio (a hellish other world) were turned into Spirits, so it wouldn’t have made sense for her to escape. Other divine beings like Hades were also turned into Spirits, so there was no way Palutena could have survived, too.

Plus, it would have been difficult to use Bayonetta or Palutena as the starting character. The first character players try has to be simple and easy to use. As you may have seen in The Smashing Life, Kirby was voted as the character they should play first. I really had no other choice than Kirby.
