I ignored the dude saying "Can I execute Verge" for a reason. That's way over the line obviously.

"Sakurai is disrespectful" I totally get why they feel this way. I cannot understand why he'd hold off on revealing Isaac as an AT for so long. If they wanna be sad about this then I'll let them because Isaac fans have always been very devoted.

In retrospect, Sakurai's definitely not disrespectful, that's obvious. But him making Isaac an AT and hiding him for so long is NOT a smart move.

Didn’t Mystic say Isaac was 100% playable?

Either one of them is full of it (probably Mystic, why do we believe him again?), or it’s sources getting mixed info to weed out leakers.

First it was all these “insiders” vs the Grinch Leak, now it’s the Grinch Leak vs insiders vs other insiders vs other insiders. I’m just staying with the Grinch Leak being real as of now, but really wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if it’s not.

I bet Sakurai is looking at all this and just laughing, since all this has done is put doubt in the Grinch leak, thus keeping the surprise of whether or not it's real alive.

If Isaac is an assist I guess that Rathatos pic, supposed Golden Sun item, and renewal was all for nothing then...

We've gone over time and time that these renewals don't mean anything for Smash at all though, that's all people's fault on making that connection

If these insiders are trying to prove the banner is fake, we need super credible sources; not just some hear say. Sakurai could have easily taken a page out of Harada's book and spread mad disinformation to track leaks and their sources. Ever since the Grinch Leak, insiders have been trying their damnedest to try and disprove it.

And another thing, there hasn't been anything credible enough to prove that the banner is fake.
The mental gymnastics and research that would have to be put in to fake the banner in the first place makes ArtsyOmni's Rayman look like child's play.

Been a steadfast believer in it almost purely on Occam's Razor; it's easier to believe that it's real rather than prove that it's false.

TL;DR Unless our usual suspects get some "hard facts" out, the only way the Grinch leak is proved false is if we have none of the characters in that mural announced. Not even one character from that mural should be in if it were completely false. Not Geno, Not Ken, No Shadow, No Isaac, No Banjo, and definitely No Mach Rider. These "picks" are too in-tuned with the game's themes of fan-service & the history of Smash (as a whole) to be completely ruled out.

Tbh I don't buy Verg here at all, mostly because of what he's saying conflicting with Mystic. That and I see literally no reason for Sakurai to make him assist instead of making him playable or sitting on him for DLC when he's such a large and popular request. I don't think insiders are lying, I just think a lot of their sources are relaying false information.

We will have a direct in literally less than 36 hours. LEGITIMATE INFORMATION & FOOTAGE. Why are we still listening to insiders? Just be patient. Don't freak out. Keep your expectations in check, and maybe just believe Sakurai when he said "Character announcements are going to slow down".

Doubt it. Just like I doubt the insiders are lying. Verg has already worked hard to make sure he is sure of information before releasing it now. After being burned a lot, he's matured and been more careful. Not to say he's highly mature(jeez, the guy can be a jerk), but still.

It's more likely if anything, they'd be given bad information or trust the wrong people. Cause that happens to pretty much all leakers.

I doubted the mural leak was real for a while now, and it has inconsistencies that cannot actually be shrugged away by "compression issues". It's using a blatantly different background from all the other murals. There's no questioning that. If it's real, they made a new background just this one time. If it's fake, it just means a troll worked hard to make a convincing leak. Which while it's not super hard for many people to do, technically speaking, it still did a good job at convincing others.

While people can believe what they want, "compression issues" is not what explains the background inconsistencies. They're used for a hanger, probably with a lightbox, and the mural is different either because a) by reducing background noise, the characters pop out more or b) as was suggested a few days ago, these are plans with placeholder art to get a rough idea of how to assemble the final product. The image does not look like it would be used for a presentation or website mural as it's often compared to.

Doesn't mean it's true, but I felt that was a sufficient explanation for me. Really, the only thing that makes me doubt this leak are the insiders. And when I have a lot of evidence on one hand, and word of mouth (however credible) on the other, I'm hedging my bets on the former.

How has Sakurai been giving Isaac fans hope? It's just the grinch leak that has.

Verg had a very spotty track record prior to Smash and he has been proven to lie about past leaks for other games, but it was always in an attempt to make himself seem more credible than he was. Smash is the one game where he's been right more than wrong, and has been a massive boost to his credibility. I believe he cares enough about having a solid reputation that he's not going to intentionally throw it away by lying just to spite the community. If he says Isaac is an AT, it's because he believes Isaac is an AT.

ZhugeEX commenting is pretty big, and for me personally, is enough to fully consider Grinch Leak done.

I hope Thursday is good and makes people happy. Let's just all remember to act civilly, no matter what, and please don't do any "I told you so"s or rub anything in. It will only makes things worse if things play out a certain way.

This is one of the few Vergeben claims that seems sketchy just on a surface level. Not impossible or anything, but the idea that Sakurai, who no doubt has seen the amount of support Isaac has, would add him back in as an Assist Trophy after all this time while also waiting until the very end to announce it instead of showing him off early is just... weird. On the other hand, Vergeben’s track record is inarguably extremely solid, and the background inconsistencies in the leak can’t be explained away...

...I really have no idea what to think anymore. At least I only have to wait until Thursday.

Isaac being an AT is more much shocking then Geno being one. Isaac is more popular and has a lead role in a series that isn't as old as SMRPG. Also him being 1st party is a MASSIVE advantage over someone like Geno.

Hoping hes playable, but it just might not happen.

EDIT: ALTHOUGH there is the possibility of more than one newcomer being revealed on the same video! But that Ken/Incineroar duality makes so much sense that I'm inclined to think that's going to be it...

- Ken & Incineroar playable
- Shadow and Isaac as ATs
- Chorus Kids and Mach Rider as trophies
- No sign of Geno or Banjo
- One or two other newcomers

That is, allegedly, "putting the pieces together", according to one insider (and this insider is very deep in Nintendo and has posted a lot of closed doors investor meetings, amongst other info).

And, those pieces aren't Jiggys.

I have no stake in this fight, I don't care if the Banner Leak is true or not, but I will say that Verg always..ALWAYS..gets things wrong while starting out with getting a few things right.

By and large, Vergeban is full of himself, saying the small amount of information he actually knows and gaining fame through it and then begins BSing to stay relevant or get more attention or something. So, yes, its entirely possible he had legit info in the beginning, but everything except Simon and the other stuff he has gotten proven right, most of which was revealed very early on aside from Simon and Isabelle (who, lets face it, seemed likely from the get-go even if most said she'd be an Echo. Most assumed we'd get Ken even before he said anything) is him pulling stuff out of his butt. He had no info on K. Rool or Richter nor did he say anything about the other Echo fighters like Daisy, Chrom, or Dark Samus.

As such, I really think most of the stuff he has said that hasn't been proven true is very likely to be him BSing once again and should be taken with a grain of salt.
