Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

What I have found so far;

Banjo-Kazooie was trademarked on 2018-09-09 (Status date) as nintendo as a partner
https://trademarks.justia.com/752/97/banjo-75297133.html

Mach Rider was trademarked on 2018-05-11 (Status Date) with Nintendo as an owner.
https://trademarks.justia.com/736/57/mach-73657354.html

Golden Sun was trademarked on 2017-04-25 (Status Date) with Nintendo as an owner.
https://trademarks.justia.com/777/49/golden-77749719.html

Rhythm Heaven was trademarked on 2017-08-14 (Status Date) with nintendo as an owner.
https://trademarks.justia.com/775/83/rhythm-77583774.html

Adding to this (apologies for the spam)

I may be wrong about the Golden Sun and Rhythm Heaven dates because I remember hearing that they were trademarked around the time Banjo and Mach rider were. Also, Custom Robo which had ray apparently cut was
710 - Cancelled - Section 8
on their status date. This could mean something.

edit - the date custom robo was cancelled was 2016-03-04 on this website. However I think it was earlier this year. The website I am using is inaccurate a bit, because I remember seeing that these were renewed/cancelled a few months ago simultaneously.

If this leak doesnt end with a movie quality plot twist im gonna be dissapointed.

Vergeben was a triple crosser who was simultaniously the man who set up the Incineroar smokescreen to confuse his peers, the man who leaked the Grinch, and Todd Howard all at once. In the end, the only real leak was the Dante one, which was also created by Vergeben.

Okay, this is definitely suspicious now...
We simply can't ignore this...
Either the Ganondorf Leaker guy did his research, or these renewals could possibly be for Smash Bros.
To be fair, I don't think it's that unlikely that a fake leaker could know about them. I remember hearing about the Golden Sun and Rhythm Heaven renewals when they happened just from their fanbases hoping it meant something for Smash.

Seems like more proof for the grinch leak, I think?

With all of these leakers claiming they saw something or they know someone, I simply won't put much stock in it. A picture is worth a thousand words. The Grinch leak is a picture worth millions (if the last 2 days are any indication). This beats out everyone's words and/or sources until someone finds something concrete to discredit it.

Because, let's be honest, I can do it too. Watch.

Hey everyone. I know some people that said that Pickle Rick would be revealed alongside Incineroar. So the image must be fake.

Edit: grammar.

I'm just hoping everybody isn't going to go ballistic if it doesn't end up true. Which, considering detailed background analysis done by a professional graphics designer is calling it fake as well as insiders with spotless track records.... is more likely than some vocal individuals seem to think.

People need to keep an open mind and, most of all, be chill.
Keep in mind that calling it fake is unprofessional. It's different. That's it. Coming to the conclusion that it's fake is really silly considering the E3 banner does not look like the current August banner.

Don't apologize, it's not like you're randomly insulting people on here or anything.

Yep, I remember, we reported on the Custom Robo trademark being cancelled. Was a wild, sad day.

im not concerned about an incredibly small castle the size of pichu which is probably there in all four versions. Im concerned with the cloud cover with really flat constrast lines that match the horizon on the real versions, and on the leak they go off at random angles and end in strange blob shapes where they were previously hidden by characters.

The island on the edge of the falls being completely covered by characters in the two main released banners and completely absent in the leak banner is the most damning.
You should be, because if the castle is different (which it is) then that means we know the background isn't 100% consistent from update to update, which means the inconsistency between two versions of the blank banner cannot be damning evidence against Grinch

Friendly reminder that trademark renewals are standard business procedure, though I do concede that Nintendo being registered as a partner on the Banjo trademark is interesting.
Also I would like everyone to know that you are now breathing manually.

Why was Dixie “cut” tho according to said leak? Wasn’t there a third “cut” too?

Question: even though the Custom Robo trademark lapsed, could Nintendo still use the IP sans-trademark? Nevermind whether or not they would, I'm curious if they could.

Well, everything on me screams that too.
Nintendo has been very friendly with Tecmo and Team Ninja, also a lot of Tecmo games in the NES online for the switch and Guess which game comes out in there on december as well...

Sept 18th m8. You're telling me all this fake stuff was made in 2 weeks and executed with perfect precision? And I'M the delusional one?
the snapchat account stuff and finding a linkedin to use would be very easy to do in 2 weeks. and if you caught the background comparison youd see that maybe they didnt actually do a very precise or good job with the background?

The best part about this leak would be if it really was the media company employee making it up and trying to use the excuse that someone framed them. Like how a 50 yr old would understand as much that “thats how the internet worked someone hacked my phone idk”

That would allow the snapchat account to be real but the papers to be faked.

But what's saying Nintendo partnered with Rare on Banjo-Kazooie?

I don't see their name anywhere except under "Trademark Owner History" which could be back when they owned Rare and put B-K's faces on official Nintendo merchandise.

Okay so, I have one issue with the idea that the leaked banner is for one event and that it's incomplete. Maybe it's because I'm looking at it like a Smash fan, but why would they put Banjo and Geno on it and still have more to reveal? Those two seem like big deal characters. I mean, final reveals aren't hype all the time and whatever and Incineroar is still big being a cool Pokemon but like, who would top Banjo? Master Chief? Zack Fair? It's just weird to me.

I also never got a response on whether anyone had a source to the rumor that Xander Mobus is given a ton if fake names to announce while recording so the roster is totally secret even to him. I believe it but I can't find proof. I just think it's neat.
Not sure if you’re still looking, but there is a video of the Brawl announcer saying other character’s names. While not Mobus, it can be assumed that the other announcers do the same.

Don't forget the Golden Sun was trademarked AGAIN this year to accommodate home consoles. The trademark info was updated to include that

I guess. I legitimately want Strider Hiryu to get in too, but he's just a different story for different reasons.

Well, K. Rool did get a trademark shortly before he was put in SSB4 as a Mii Costume. It could have been coincidence, but it's worth noting.

Golden Sun's trademark was also renewed early which strikes me as a little suspicious.

Reposting this graphic I found on /v/. If this is fake, the amount of work the guy would've had to do to fake it would've been phenomenal.

I don’t care about the roster, I won’t be disappointed no matter what happens. But if the leak is fake, there better be a damn good explanation on the faker’s process, and how all the little details fit into place.

It says it under "Party Name"- Nintendo of America right there lmao.

Meaning 1 of 2 things, or both. Banjo and Kazooie is on the N64 mini (which is pretty obvious) and/or Banjo and Kazooie is in Smash, the only other Nintendo game he'd be in.

Probably won't because they did something potentially illegal using another person's name like that

I think you are correct. I didn't actually see that, I need to start reading more before acting haha! Was worth a check anyway. But there is a pattern between these other trademarks don't you think?

They renewed the Wario Land trademark last year and nothing came of it, and I'm pretty sure they're never gonna make a new Eternal Darkness in spite of them renewing it's trademark whenever it expires.

The E3 banner and the August banner do look alike, however the August banner lacks details when compared to the E3 banner, and looks awfully close to the leak's:

It could be from back when they owned Rare, though; it only includes them as a party name under "Trademark Owner History."
