I'm also the laziest and most unfit person in the world. The movement required when playing against a guy who just hacks the ball back into the court is just too much. I get bored and tired and I hate it. Singles can go ride a bike made of penises.

I play tennis a ton, and I find that winning mindsets are extremely similar to Smash. Especially since tennis is 1v1 (that's why I like tennis, WHY IS EVERYTHING POPULAR A TEAM SPORT).
Tennis is the **** because you only have to get one other person to play. To get a basketball game going I either have to go somewhere with pick up running or I have to call up at least 5 more people. Then there's the inevitable waiting around for laggers to get there so you can start a game. For tennis you find one person and just play.

Most people play Doubles? Most tennis players I know prefer Singles (and most tennis pros).
What's with everyone else saying "most people play doubles"? Most people play both singles and doubles. They are fun in their own ways.

I personally prefer singles a little bit, in part because it's much better exercise, but me and one of my friends were a beast doubles team in high school so I like that too :)

Nothing like owning fools with poaching and shoulder bumping after every game you win to put the other team on tilt.

I play tennis, too!

Well, on a table. Table tennis, interestingly enough.

Way better than regular tennis, and faster paced, and more exciting!

Agree! Table tennis is so cool. My tabletennis table got broken, so I have to buy a new one :(

It's hard to find good tables these days... all my friends' tables are warped or cheaply made, and the ball bounces ever so slightly differently between them all. My table is the only robust one, but long before I got into TT, my dad used to use it as a work bench, so it's got all these solder marks and random slices and gouges all over it. It doesn't affect play, but I feel like it should.

Oh well!

At school, they're gracious enough to provide fantastic Killerspin tables with great supports and like two inch thick tables. Yet their stock balls are still one stars...

Table tennis is the funnest thing ever, lyk omg. It kind of feels like a video game to me, where it doesn't take any strength, but it does require technique and quick decision-making.

have you ever seen professional table tennis players?
it does take a lot of strength to give as much top spin to the ball as they are giving.
china is so op in table tennis though.

It might take a lot of strength to give spin, but pretty much any other racquet sport requires more of some type of strength, whether it be explosive or general.

Not nearly as much strength as most sports >_>

table tennis does NOT take strength. it takes speed and fitness.
I find it boring. There's only so much amusement that I can find from a dude spinning a ball.

badminton is the manliest of all the racket sports, takes the most strength, speed and fitness. The fastest smash in a tournament condition is 206mph, which is nearly 50mph faster than the fastest ever tennis serve.

I've played badminton properly. I'm sure I was nowhere near good enough to consider myself good, but I have a firm understanding of the game, and absolutely murdered everybody in my high school gym class, even the instructors, without breaking a sweat. I knew what was going on. Against good players, though, I probably wouldn't have fared as well.

You know what's fun? Pickleball. It's like giant ping pong.

I was ranked 12th nationally and played for the county first team when I was training properly and taking it seriously. Now I just play for my uni. At that time I was much fitter than a friend of mine who played for Arsenal Juniors.

Yeah, admittedly you don't need to be built like a brick ****house as it isn't a contact sport. But tbh, contact sports are rubbish. You're relying on 10-14 other players to not be terrible. Plus I don't really want to have to bulk myself up just to be able to compete, it's ridiculous.

I assume you are talking about badminton? Still, this doesn't compute with this:

I'm also the laziest and most unfit person in the world.
Pretty big drop off there in your fitness, huh? :p

You have to do practice and stuff for pretty much every sport... I agree that it's unfair that certain people are naturally bigger or more athletic, but that's the case for pretty much every sport or activity out there. No matter what you play, there's always going to be some people that are more naturally suited to the game than others.

As for team sports, obviously it sucks if all your teammates are terrible. But when your teammates aren't, it can be really fun. Building chemistry and teamwork can be fun.

The defendant's testimony directly contradicts his previous statement!

Let's see you talk your way out of this one, Mr. Strangelove!

Going from being more fit than a really good soccer player to "the laziest and most unfit person in the world" is pretty difficult. Must be on a diet consisting purely of twinkies or something.

I dunno ballin/Star King. I used to be extremely fit because I played 2 sports constantly all year round, but now I don't, and I could probably be a contestant for the laziest and most unfit person in the world too :D.

However the gyakuten saiban stuff was pretty lol.

football, or soccer, is the most popular sport in the world. the fifa world cup gets more viewers then the olyimpics. contact sports > non contact sports.

There are several transitional stages to this that can explain everything.

Stage 1: Me being sporty and good at badminton and awesome.

Stage 2: Me busting my ankle, causing me to drop off the training.

Stage 3: Me going out a bit more and enjoying myself, consuming vast quantities of alcoholic beverages. Lose interest in training.

Stage 4: Me deciding that I don't want to train or play in tournaments at all, but stick to county matches.

Stage 5: Me (somehow) ending up at university, completely sacking off all forms of exercise and taking up smoking. Still able to walk onto the badminton team, because I still **** the majority of people.

I'm what mango will be in a few years.

EDIT: to the above: That means nothing. Baseball is the most attended sport in the world, and I think we both agree that it DEFINITELY isn't the best or most exciting thing out there now is it.

soccer only became widely known to australians a few years ago when we somehow qualified for the world cup

Not if you gather all the football tourneys and leagues in the world. (yeah Im talking about international football not the rugby-like sport when you use your hands and for some strange reason call football).

So if you take all the attenders on football matches. Which you should when you making a list of the most attended sport in the world. Its not only bigger than baseball, but much, much, much bigger.

Nothing tilts me more than a "football" vs "soccer" debate ... it's already come up a few times here in England.

Also, soccer is the most watched sport in the world and I think we can agree it DEFINITELY isn't the best or most exciting thing out there now is it.

I can imagine. Is it one country that are crazy about football("soccer") its the UK. So try to argue with them to say that american football is better seems helpless.

Sorry, I meant the debate about whether it's called football or soccer. When you call it soccer people tend to be like "you mean FOOTBALL" and I'm like "yeah we call it something different in the US" and they're like "your football doesn't even involve feet" even though it does and plus soccer doesn't involve only feet either. It should really be called "nohandball" if you want to be specific.
