Smash Switch Speculation: F-Zero

F-Zero Speculation.jpg

Note: These articles are more for discussion purposes before E3. They'll be short, sweet, and to the point for a brief recap and looking into possible characters/stages for each series in Smash Bros. These also go by a "Don't expect too much" philosophy. Please remember to be civil in the comments discussion.

F-Zero and Super Smash Bros. have an interesting relationship - Captain Falcon is basically a Smash Bros. character at this point, as he's known more for his Smash appearances than for his own series. Captain Falcon has been one of the only characters to appear in every game, with no stage in Smash 64, two stages each in Melee and Brawl, and two between both versions of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U.

So, how about this time?

Returning Characters

There's a .001% that Captain Falcon gets replaced or cut, but due to his popularity as a Smash staple, it's easier to see them no longer making Smash Bros. games instead.

New Characters

F-Zero has a lot of characters but very few ones actually worth any time. Samurai Goroh, Pico, and Jody Summer are probably the best choices, if any. Due to the series niche popularity, it's doubtful, but F-Zero has been around for such a long time.

Returning Stages

Port Town Aero Dive, probably. Mute City (Melee) is a bit harder to see due to it's namesake replacement.

New Stages

Any racing track, really. What would be interesting is something with less of a blue background.

Wait, you mean to tell me Ganondorf ISN'T an F-Zero character? He seems so similar to Captain Falcon, it's almost like he's a clone of him!

In Melee, yes. In Brawl and SSB4, there are plenty of differences to be considered a semi-clone. [Yes, I know your comment is a joke.]

Anyways, for stages, I am expecting Port Town to come back. If there are other stages like Melee's Mute City, Big Blue, or 3DS's Mute City coming, then I have no idea who will.

Black Shadow and Blood Falcon are also worth discussing. The former is the series' main villain in most media and plays a prominent role in GX.

The latter's clothing was in Smash already, but the character itself got no luck in being an alternate costume turning character it seems.

For stages: Mute City from Melee and a brand new GX stage please. GX has so much diversity in locations it would be a shame that Port Town is retained for a third straight game. Sadly that's probably what we'll get.

I would be on board with Black Shadow but only if the F-Zero franchise gets updated between now and Smash. And that’s if he appears in the game.

However, I would love to see some stages from the series like Casino Palace, Sand Ocean, Fire field, Empyrean colony, or something that’s not a huge metropolis.
