I didn't get a chance to play this, but watched several matches at Best Buy. The animation and framerate is extremely smooth. And from what I saw, the speed is indeed between Brawl and Melee.

Yay! Eggrobo! I really hope the Sonic series gets more representation this time around, Brawl hardly represented the series, no items or Adventure mode stages or bosses, Dr. Eggman would've made a great boss.
Well Sonic was a late entry in Brawl.

I played one game of Smash Run and I gotta say I was VERY impressed. Runs super smooth, characters pop out enough, and while the default control scheme doesn't seem ideal, the button layout itself doesn't seem to present a huge issue to me. I'm mostly treating this version as a way to get used to the new physics/moveset/etc, so I won't stress the precision of the inputs too much.

They do a great job balancing the game! I feel the characters that where weak in past games get buffed and thats really nice! :)

I'm a little late to the party but here are my impressions, positively, of course:

-Game runs as advertised by Sakurai. 60 frames, silky smooth. Both versions.
-Responsive controls, did take some getting used too, but very promising. (Pro controller @ Best Buys)
-Smash Run is a lot more fun than I thought, will be even better with other human players instead of CPUs
-Music was excellent, especially the remixed Smash64 Character Select theme that plays at the results screen.
-Smash Ball took a bit more abuse to crack open. This is a good change IMO

-The game looks a tad faster, therefore should be more entertaining and reflex-based.
-The colors pop out more, and HD looks good and the framerate is all nice.
-Smash Run looks fun and addicting.
-Most new effects look great, and the sounds have more "oomph" to them than Brawl's
-The characters seem a bit more balanced....even if some of the new ones like Wii Fit Trainer look like they still deal too much damage and should be balanced out correctly.

And let's never forget there's no tripping this time around. At the very least it looks like we're getting a "What Brawl should've been" scenario.

One thing that I liked: The entire game feels and looks so polished.

I do like the feel better than brawl mostly. I also like it much much better than Project M. I do play competitively too. I guess my whole thing would be with this game is to keep an open mind. Learn a new style. I had to learn a new style for Brawl and then for Project M. So keep an open mind and learn a new style.

Oh thank you dear god, someone else is casual on the forum. On topic though, this faster gameplay sounds appealing (my brawl main is falco, imo he's one of the fastest characters in the game and he's still damn slow). Greninja and Sheik look epic.
Wow it is nice to see some casuals on here! Yeah I totally agree with you! After I was getting the hang of Brawl it started feeling slow to me I'm glad they're speeding up the game!

I liked the feel and the speed, I'll most likely play this game as competitively as I can when my job allows. I like the new ledge game and options out of pivot especially.

Personally, I wanted a combo system closer to melee with low knockback throws, soft spot airs and tilts. (And I'm a guy who's played melee like 10 hours total). It's stupid to expect another melee, and I feel that the people who are looking for melee 2.0 will not find it here.

I hope that the entire smash community can embrace this game. This is the future direction of the saga not a melee/brawl 2.0. Btw I'm hyped for this game!!1!

Do you guys think Sakurai and his crew will take ppl's opinions (partly those who were invited to that tournament) into account when finetuning the balance before release?

I'm not saying it is a definite, but I feel 50/50. Sakurai has indeed stated many times that he's listening to his fans and want's this game to appeal to both of his target audience!

What's your opinion, do you think he will make at least a few of the changes?

I have no idea, to be honest.

I liked playing as Zero Suit Samus. The Fire Emblem stage was pretty cool. The gameplay is a lot of fun. I like their speeds and weights. Hopefully they are adjusted just a little more though. The game to me felt like I needed to L cancel imo so that makes me think that they could add it.

They should at least add more auto-canceling moves.

Told to post my hands on impressions here with a quick breakdown of all characters I played, I was working for Destructoid.com for their video team this E3 which gave way to allot of hands on time for Smash Bros

I think I will be posting another video about Amiibos later.

I try, Once Smash Bros Wii U comes out, Im taking a Capture Card and Setting up a stream that I will try to keep up for 24 hours using a system to bounce from Live game to live game. It was my game of the show just beating out its self on the 3DS and Alien Isolation.

Given that I have now locked the Negatives thread for bad behavior, as well as having been a fair while since the demos have been available, I shall be unstickying this thread.

However, because this thread has been very peaceful and constructive, unlike the former thread this thread shall remain open. :)

When I finish my AmiiBo video, that talks about the behind scenes demos if I am not under embargo for it.
Behind scenes demos? ooh sounds fancy considering that the demo we played and the demo at E3 (if I'm right about this) were two different things entirely ;)

I did not find any issue with them at E3, I thought it was actually more on the melee side of speed then brawl which was slower
