Baby Park is my favorite Mario Kart course of all time, no question. I have had so many insanely close 4-player matches there.

But the game / series the stage is based on is part of the actual stage. It influences the stage design and aesthetics more than anything!

I mean imagine if the Bowser's Castle Music played on Pyrosphere.

The idea of Mario music on a Metroid stage is laughable, even if the theme works with the design and aesthetics, both being fiery indoor places where bosses are fought.

It's true that certain stages that don't have a lot to pull from like Pilotwings and The Gym but when Sakurai was faced with those kinds of problems, he gave smaller series chances. Series that couldn't establish themselves otherwise. Nintendo series that were often lucky to get a track. He didn't borrow from Mario, DK, Zelda, etc.

I'm a bit tired so I'm not explaining this as clearly as possible... Does this make sense?

Sure it may very well fit in aesthetics. But that's not covering the whole aspect of the Fit category. It has to make sense for this song to be on the stage. In Brawl, Sonic songs were only on Green Hill Zone, Metal Gear songs were only on Shadow Moses Island, and only Nintendo songs go on Nintendo stages. So precedent suggests that the same will happen with Smash 4. That's why Sonic songs don't fit on Nintendo stages.

IIRC it was said that the Boxing Ring stage hasn't been done here yet due to the fact that it hasn't been confirmed to be a Punch-Out!! stage yet.

Well that's true. Although given the limited number of unique songs (I actually just expect a fighter theme medley, the main theme, and maybe a training song medley as well.) I'd expect there'd be quite a number of songs from other games based around similar concepts. And even if it by some chance wasnt a Punch-Out!! stage, I'd still expect something from that game on it, if there isn't a different, exclusively Punch-Out!! stage. (Not frickin' likely. It's this one or not one.)

1. Good Egg Galaxy (SMG)
On the topic of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, this is the first song that pops into my head. It's an amazing track that pulls you into the atmosphere and world of Super Mario Galaxy. I can't leave this one out.
2. Gusty Garden Galaxy (SMG)
Leaving this track out is simply wrong! This is arguably the most popular track in the Galaxy games.
3. Sky Station Galaxy 1 (SMG2)
There are two themes for the two different levels in Sky Station Galaxy. This one is the one that was often used in Galaxy 2's trailers. Was anyone else upset when they cut a part of the song out in the final game?
4. Buoy Base Galaxy (SMG)
The Galaxy soundtrack had its fair share of tense and action packed tracks. This song is a perfect example. The song was only used in one stage and it was used so effectively. It's so mysterious, yet adventurous! Such are the worlds of Super Mario Galaxy. Heck, this song and level left such an impact that the area itself was re-used in Galaxy 2!
5. Puzzle Plank Galaxy (SMG2)
This track fits really well with the level it's used for. It's also one of the more popular tracks from Galaxy 2.
6. Purple Coins (SMG)
Yes, it has a section of Gusty Garden's music. I know. But, this song is amazing. Even when you raged at how hard some of those Purple Coin missions were (stares intently at Dreadnaught's Purple Coins), you have to admit how fantastic this track is. It's very tense and very action packed, much like Smash Bros. I don't have any issue putting Gusty Garden and Purple Coins in the same list when Brawl finds it acceptable to put some of the same songs twice on its soundtrack.
7. Rainbow Road (Mario Kart Wii)
I think that when it comes to Super Mario Galaxy, how can you NOT think of the Rainbow Road theme? While there are many versions that I could have used, this one is the best in my opinion and I feel as though it fits in with the stage the best. It's just absolutely beautiful.

8. Bowser's Battle Theme/Nemesis King Bowser/Bowser, The Great Koopa King/King Bowser (SMG)
YEAH! I'M PUTTING IN BOWSER'S THEME FROM GALAXY 1! SUE ME!
I mean, LOOK AT BOWSER IN SSB4!

I would be heavily disappointed if this track wasn't used! It's the perfect song for Bowser! But why on this stage? Well, it fits in the stage in my opinion! Imagine you are fighting a tough opponent on this stage and THIS comes on! It would be epic! It's atmospheric, tense, and it gets your adrenaline going when you fight! It is also one of the most popular tracks from Super Mario Galaxy; I would be HEAVILY surprised if this wasn't in the game in some form.

That's my list. I would put in Bowser's Galaxy Generator due to how popular it is, but I can't fit it in here. I was also going to put in the Airship theme, but I'll save that one for the LM: DM stage. I didn't put in Toy Time intentionally because I bet Mario will have a second stage in the Wii U version that will have the Mario theme. I did not put in SM3DW songs as I find that game to be too new to have any content in SSB4. If it wasn't, then I would have definitely put in the Overworld theme and especially the Hisstocrat boss music.

You have no idea how long this took. I mean, Super Mario Galaxy, alongside Mother 3, Kirby Super Star and Mega Man 2 (STILL waiting, Swampy... ), is probably my favorite game of all time. Just, everything about it is SO right. I prefer it to any other Mario game, hell, even Smash Bros. isn't as addicting to me as this masterpiece of a game. I used to make them right off the bat too, but it's a lot easier when you've got them pre-planned. For instance, this and Dr. Wily's Castle were done in the down time of Crashboards, while I did the others immediately after they were announced (except for Fire Emblem, where I procrastinated.)

Notes: Only half of these tracks are from the Galaxy games, with the others represented being Mario Kart, Mario 64, and the Mario & Luigi RPGs. I think that music from Sunshine, 3D Land/World, Luigi's Mansion, and the 2D platformers would fit better in other Mario stages. (As well as other MK/64/RPG tracks.) The trick here was to find songs that fit a Galaxy stage without overloading on Galaxy tracks, and having a wide range of tones, and picking popular tracks. Yeah, I'm pretty much going for high scores in all categories. Anyway...

Into The Galaxy Medley

Reasoning: While the Comet Observatory song itself is a masterpiece and a very iconic song from the game, it lacks that fit for fighting vibe. In this medley, it's been backed up by the louder Starship Mario and the even louder First Steps. I even threw in Bowser Jr's entrance to up the pitch a bit. We already know that the Starship Mario and Bowser's Airship appear in the game as background elements, and I doubt it's farfetched to think that Comet Observatory will as well. The idea here is to play one of Comet Observatory, Starship Mario or Bowser Jr's theme, and then transition with First Steps as the background changes.
