Maybe the choice of playing a game is up to the player, but that's fine.

There's a video of the GameCube controller being used on the 3DS. (2DS in this case).

Well, I'm not THAT serious about the the attachment :laugh:, would much rather just tough it out until the Wii U version comes out.

Well, that's okay. I still think people are going to play Smash 3DS.
Yes, the game will be competitive.

Hmm, I'll still play the game with the 3DS controls, since I want to try out new stuff, but that's pretty cool to be honest.

Well it's Smash so of course it will be taken competitively, regardless of version.

Personally, I don't think the 3DS will do as well as the console counterpart in a tournament setting unless there is a practical way to get a wired connection between devices. Local play wirelessly will cause issues, especially with 50+ players playing at a time.

Same. I also played Jump Ultimate Stars, so I can play fighting games on tiny screens.

Plus if you play melee on one player you get used to not using the C-Stick.

Maybe. Nothing is impossible. If there's players that prefer Smash 3DS, then I'm sure there can be 3DS-exclusive tournaments.
Of course, I think the standard for the 3DS version will be online tournaments. The Wii U version will be good, yes, but so will the 3DS version and because they're Smash games, they'll be fine.

As much as I like the GCN controller... I really don't know trying to attach at control like that to a handheld console of all things.

Not saying impossible, It just won't be as practical as the the console version.
It is going to take a lot more equipment to project, stream and wire the connections.

That's why I said 3DS tournaments will most likely be online. I just think that not everything will be Wii U, Wii U, and Wii U. lol
Imagine that there's another thread about the 3DS version, some user comes and says "Haha, all of you are so butthurt. Why can't you get the superior version instead of playing on this inferior version". Then that typical flame war begins and...eh.
If only someone made a cheaper 3DS capture card.

I think in terms of grand scale tourneys like the EVOs, APEXs and ZENITHs the Wii U will be the prominent.
Online? I thought we were talking in a competitive setting where players gather to a event.
Online will be more convenient, but unreliable. We would have to take the different internet connections of the players into consideration. And what about streaming such an online event for spectators? That's gonna require equipment.

Uh, I don't know about that. It may be unreliable but that's what other players are going to do, so I really don't know.
