Aside from the fact that your only reason for not liking him is that you've never managed to finish a Metroid game in your life, I partially agree with you. Quite frankly, anyone who thinks that what we saw in the April Direct is playable, is either an idiot or extremely delusional. Not taking into account his size or the fact that no character has been shown off as something else before being revealed to be playable, HE SAYS "there are other boss characters too" RIGHT WHEN THE SHADOW APPEARS, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD

I think that his Metroid Prime incarnation will be playable and it'll be like with Toon Link and the Miis, Clone Ridley from Other M being a stage hazard when he's not being played as. ({Alfonzo emerges piloting Ridley Robot} "Leave it to me!")



EDIT: Oh, hey, Sakurai's Cat confirmed.

I may have never finished a Metroid game, but my reason for disliking Ridley is just that discussion about him has become a meme

I highly doubt that. I'm pretty sure that some vets (Game & Watch, R.O.B., Jiggz, Ganondorf, etc.) won't be announced until after release.

They will be leaked before then game testers usually leak the rosters at least two weeks in advance. We knew about all the secret characters in Brawl before the game was released R.O.B, Wolf, and Toon Link were leaked while Lucario and Jigglypuff were unintentionally leaked by the stickers.

The problem with leaks is that regardless of if they are true or not, no one will believe them. When Brawl's roster was leaked, nobody thought it was real/wanted it to be real because it didn't have certain characters. Also R.O.B.

You're right. Brawl's roster looked authentic and valid so I don't see why people would deny it I guess they were all in denial like you said.

Then again, you can blame the denial on high expectations, which was arguably worse back then considering people were expecting a 50 or 60 character roster.

Though it's pretty bad now for people banking too much on only three characters and making up excuses for the inclusions or exclusions of everything else.

Also in both cases, no one considers the factor of game designing.
