Well, I've only played Shadow Dragon and the Tellius series, so that's my fault. Doesn't the arena have a signficant cost though?

Nope. As long as you are patient to get a low price and smart enough to know when to get out of a battle before your unite dies the arena is very easy to abuse.

@ mimgrim Don't forget that you lose exp everytime a unit attacks the same enemy until it gives zero exp! I learned that when trying to level up Donnel in his paralogue haha.

You... Have me confused. I'm trying to figure out what you are describing but I can't seem to recall it ever happening to me.

@ mimgrim Hmm, I was playing in Lunatic, then got an archer cornered, so I had Donnel poke him over and over with his trusty bronze lance, he wasn't paired up so he did 2 damage or so, when the archer was at half hp Donnel just stopped getting exp.

Hm. Well I guess I was wrong then. I guess I really liked how the Tellius series handled EXP.

Tellius games did it pretty good yeah. But they also had BEXP which served the same purpose as grinding, but more limited. But without BEXP I can't imagine how horrifying it would have been to keep staff characters up with everyone else with how slow they gained EXP, I had the same problem for Sacred Stones as well. Every other FE game I've played they staff users were easy and were generally ahead of everyone else. Or, in the case of Radiant Dawn, get other stats maxed out after characters got their man stats maxed out.

That... I dunno how to explain that... But that shouldn't have happened. Did you in some inconceivable way get Donnel to level 30? That's the only thing I can possibly think of. That shouldn't have happened, especially if it was a regular chapter/paralouge.

@ mimgrim Oh not at all, he didn't even level up to 2 hahaha, and it's actually supposed to happen in Lunatic, you just don't notice it usually since your characters kill the enemies before the exp drains out. I was just reaaaally stretching the gains that one time

And heh, staff users, I'm just the kind of cruel person who has a unit being hit over and over to spam the heal uses, and I leveled up my laguz units solely by counterattacking in RD... I've done 90+ turns in some levels ._.

Yeah BXP rocked. And distributing it was fun. I really enjoyed that system. It gave a reason to restrain yourself and complete side objectives, and keep your units alive, while finishing the mission. There was a constant conflict of priorities. There was a chance things wouldn't go as planned.

Also yeah, healer growth wasn't so hot. I opted out of using them when my mages turned to sages.

Man. I never even knew about that. Is there a list of things like this for Lunatic mode? I did not know enemies had a set amount of EXP. That's just crazy.

I'm having a blast trying to beat this without DLC and no pair-ups! xD (except for those Risen, hell naw, that's just plain impossible)

Yes, I knew about the spotpass and Risen spawns, I believe I mentioned it. I just didn't know there was a set amount of EXP that a character could get from one enemy.

Lunatic mode should be impossible without Pair-Ups in general.
