It was people jumping the gun.
Like I said in the wee hours of the morning when the tweets were first sent out, it'll be the E3 demo and the final version will be polished. Sakurai said he's not going to reveal more than necessary too.

I just want to hype.

A good chance? Questionable. Sakurai mentioned the event so I'm going to hype myself up for it but I wouldn't be surprised if he was just advertising it. ...And expounding on it with his second tweet, and following that up with a reply to someone saying it's important that he doesn't reveal more than necessary (or something along those lines).

If we indeed get something and it's a veteran, I hope it's one of Ice Climbers/Mr. Game & Watch/R.O.B. I'm pretty sure they all return, but it would be nice to get the official confirmation.

Is it weird that I'd actually want to see veterans over newcomers at the moment? I like newcomers as much as the next guy, but a veteran reveal or two would make me happier.

Sakurai tweeted about the Corotour and since Sakurai tweeted about it, people are expecting a character reveal, likely a veteran.
The possibility of a newcomer exists but is slim, and Cap'nChreest is comparing it to how everyone was expecting Shulk but we didn't get Shulk.

I wouldn't expect nothing, whenever anything with "special suprises" in it, is utter poop or if Mshpotato Samurai doesn't specify a reveal, I wouldn't expect anything. (Unless it's a direct)
