The moment I hear people I play with talking it way too seriously is when I drop it
I understand the fact that because it's a team shooter, it's inherently competitive
But competitive play sounds taxing and time wasting

100% this. Just because it's "inherently competitive" doesn't mean it should be, but alas. There's nothing wrong with it being competitive though

Well yeah, I didn't say it was good.
Eh, Splatoon is looking fun, at least. I mean, it looks like something I would play, but it doesn't like REVOLUTIONARY like everyone was trying to claim it was. I mean, it's just a PvP game with various weapons and armor and stuff. It's fun, but nothing new, really.
That's just my opinion though, maybe it is amazing or something. I haven't even played it.

You can customize your weapon sets
You use like 3 buttons
Don't see how it can turn into League or something

I feel like Splatoon/Nintendo will go out of its way to make sure it being a competitive game is near impossible. It'll be fun... but it'll ensure that beginners can win online as easily as veterans.
