Is that a Serperior? This is th best icon I have ever made
Pfft, like anyone in this thread plays games they talk about. Or even play games in general.Wait, I thought you never played games you talk about
>is playing Majora's Mask 3D because I have to beat it stillPfft, like anyone in this thread plays games they talk about. Or even play games in general.
Not "never", but mostly.Wait, I thought you never played games you talk about
That's a lie and you know it. You're probably one of those people who think is named Link when he's named Zelda.>is playing Majora's Mask 3D because I have to beat it still
nope. never play games.
Youre supposed to use and abuse buffs and debuffs. In fact, your third party member (forgot his name) learns Bind after you give him enough wind type djiins, which is capable of blocking access to Psyenergy attacks for your enemies. The problem came before it AND right what would happen after.
Look, I think I anyway played enough of the game so, here's my kinda review of Golden sun (note, there's spoilers everywhere, beware).
ok, I won't be actually writing a typically long essay, but long enough.
When I played through the game, the MAJOR thing was the speed of battles. By far, it is the fastest I felt of any turn by turn RPG I played. Seriously, it's not like pokemon, earthbound and even Paper Mario, IT'S DANG FAST! You have the command that takes a fraction of a second to confirm them, seriously, it feels so good. This alone is something I would be interested to see more developed. I tried lots of rpg in which one major complain I had is the speed of battles.
This however became obvious that this game was designed to be extremely fast paced. The dungeons have very little puzzle so, random encounters doesn't hurt much and if there's big puzzles, they turn off the encounter rate. That was a very interesting solution and I hope I'll play other rpg that try this in the future. You can have random encounters and big puzzle together, this is a good thing.
Now, it does change the way you enjoy this game: you don't take much time to appreciate the design except in towns. Which I will say, for the gba, it's kinda cool, but what impressed me the msot is the music. I had really bad stories with how the gbs sound system is used: either the system is too limited or devs aren't aware of these limits. I really don't like the trumpet in pokemon emerald despite liking the trumpet itself. And M&L had weird sounds that I wondered why they are there. This game however, the devs were CLEARLY aware of the limits. The sounds sure isn't the best, but it reflects so much instruments that it was just feeling like it was not comming from a gba. My favorite is the file selection / healing facility, I heard this music in a video before and it was such greatness because it was fitting. I knew beforehand it was coming from golden sun, but the music basically just feels ANY state of explanation. It's weird, it likes fits with almost everything. The music is quite despair tbh, but the sounds are quite good. Note: it's not memorable enough, but from a gba, it's the best I saw so far.
As for cutscenes, it's. I really praise the details in the silence, they give you the time to grasp the plot situation and there length. It's clear that a lot of effort was put into them as well as the text. Btw, lol, there;s shake text effect, this is Paper Mario
Now, these were the good things I got of this game, it;s quite decent, but unfortunately, some cons made me think it wasn't worth in the end.
Well first, I will point this out right away: this game has not enough integrated tutorials. The onloy real one is the status screen and the first Djin you met. Though, I appreciate that the msot complex thing about the game is explained well, I wish other stuff was more explained. For example, I had to check the status screen to realise that PP heals on walking, it does tell it, but I wish there was a way to know before. I guess I didn't want to read the manual but the point i, I honestly shouldn't really. If I played games like Earthbound and ESPECIALLY the Paper Mario series, I feel it's not only exempt from any ambiguity, but I also feel it's so explained well that it might have overdone a bit, but for tutorials, more than enough is better than not enough. It eventually became fine, but I think the game would be improved in that departement.
And the next thing is honestly quite picky, but I have to point this out: there;s some logistic weirdness. No, don't worry, it's not that major like sticker star, but it's stuff like how can i know I can ride logs? Or how can I realise you CAN open the psynergy menu while caught in a sandstorm? I tought you use drows outside of it because it seems to rain in the sandstorm. For both of these and certain minor stuff, I had to look online, BUT, once you know, it's fine, it's not a really frustrating thing, I at least knew there was something wrong before.
Now, let me point out the next thing and you will realise I'm very picky in sounds, but THE TEXT SCROLLING SFX JUST SUCKS!!!!! I understand the goal: simulate a voice, but frankly, the sfx is just weird. I can't explain what it feels, it's like a constant rambling. The worst is when you talk to a kid, what is this noise? It sounds like kids are always crying. Seriously, much more improvement could be done. It's not bad to do a generic one like Earthbound does, you get used to it quickly.
And now starts the REALLY annoying of this review, these is why I didn't enjoy the game like I feel I should.
After arriving at the first forest of the game, I just remembered something I thought I forgotten:
I
HATE
EVERY
RANDOM
ENCOUNTER
SYSTEM!
With passion even. Explaining why is going to be long, but for short, I hate the fact that my exploration progression is abruptly stopped every time to do another task. I really suck in multitasking, it eats my concentration and it's really hard to manage it properly. I however really am extremely efficient one task at a time. The problem is that when I come back from random encounters, I'm like confused every time: where was at? What was I doing? Did I already went this way? Basically, it's just so annoying for me, I really got bad experiences when i could build frustration over time. This is when the speed helped, it toned it down, but I still felt on some places the will to just stop. I actually was pissed at one point that I spammed the feather.....this is why guys, I cannot enjoy pokemon without some repels, I consider them essential. This is not jsut for this game, but every of them, including pokemon, but pokemon had trainer battle which I KNOW I will do beforehand.
So, the speed of battles made me continue this game.
Now, here's where the game instantly became a disappointment for me: I got to the second lightouse and I thought "wait, this game must be quite long because the game keeps telling me there's 4 lightouses and anyway, there's tons of plots question that I\'m asking". ....I was doing a research on the wiki (more on why later) on that lightouse and as it turns out, I was NEARLY the end of the game!
WHAT????
Seriously, I felt really weird. How the freak can this game ends while I have so much question and so much plots stuff unanswered?
I really didn't get it. Until I read a bit about the sequel, but I'll come to it later, as for why I did go online.....
guys, I couldn;t handle the game anymore. it started when I fought the kraken, It was really thought and even thought I enjoyed the battle, I realised the one that came after are much harder, but in a very bad way. I had heavy trouble on the dessert, one attack could kill one of my party instantly. I really tough I was underlevelled, but after grinding some levels, it wasn't doing much. I actually read that you could skip the tornado boss and the problem is because the game requires you to beat 3 lizard before, it was nearly impossible to do it without grinding at least to say level 30 and have a crazy planning going on. I read that you can outrun it, so I did. Add the random encounters, i really couldn't do much, I had the best equipment and I was using the most powerfull psynergy I had.
I did tried to grind after in the world map to buy the best equipment, but I quickly realised it was pointless given how few exp they give, I had to grind in a dungeon, but it was so hard to just beat one encounter that the chance of having to revive were too high for my tastes.
When I arrived at the second part of the lightouse....geez, it was impossible. Seriously, I could do almost nothing and it was so much OP that it's not some levels that would help me. I came to the wiki because I had to check if I was underlleveled and I realised to my surprise that my levels were slightly better than the enemies. Meaning I should theoretically have not much problem, but i have so much that I was scary to walk. I had to actually save every room near the end of the dungeon and reset if I die. I took the liberty to AT LEAST make it to the top while knowing it was 100% impossible to win, but it's the farthest I could go.
Now, I severely question this game. There's a button that seems to open a shortcut, but even tought you can press it, it's not permanent. meaning if I die at the second part of the dungeon, I have to redo the whole tunnel path again.....I don't have the patience to try this 10 times....it's freaking a frustration builder.
As for Djinn, I missed quite a lot, but they were either seemingly unreachable, too annoying to get or they were just not worth my time.
Eventually, I was so freaking pissed, I just stopped. I got that it would require a crazy grinding job to even have a chance. Isaac was level 27-28 and the party was quite similar to these numbers. The enemies are like 26-27, I was in the right level.
As for the psybnergy stone room as grinding, I was just too annoyed to do it. I left the game in that room fully healed and I was coming to the conclusion it wasn't worth it to beat the game.
It;s honestly quite sad it had to end like this because this game do bring some interesting gameplay philosophy. I feel exploring and random encounter were more manageable than average, I feel the battle flow is the best of random encounters, it just match what it should do, I feel that the cs are detailled, but unfortunately, I don't feel playing this game was worth it in the end. i realised again how much I hate random encounters and I still do a lot (maybe more with this game), but the biggest disappointment was how incomplete this game actualy is.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel this game was in the thought of being a prequel. I read a bit on the sequel and apparently, it starts in the exact dungeon of where the first ends, you can transfert your progress and most importantly, the plot actually continues. What it tells me is this game merging thing was INTENDED but I have to question one thing: if it was necessary to do 2 cartbridge for the whole game, why they didn't went from doing it? Seriously, I saw GC disc that came with a 2 disc set, I don't think the gba was limited to not permit it, but I really question why the game alone is so incomplete. There's SO MUCH plots that is jsut floating in the air and I'm sure I would have to play the sequel to know, BUT WHY DO I HAVE TO DO IT? it's jsut ridiculous, normally, the plot should feel complete and a sequel to extend it, but not be the sequel is the last part of the prequel, it makes no sense to me.
So, if i did played the sequel (which I won't, not really think it'll worth my time), i would have to consider both games merged. If i did, I'm sure it would make a very solid plot, but unfortunately, it still doesn't make sense per game to do it.
So, that's pretty much everything I had to say on golden sun: it was a huge disappointement, but there's really good stuff that i want to see in RPG. As for the djinn gameplay btw, I honestly feels it was a really weird system, but my final thought on it was that it was just so messed up that I didn't messed with it much. I don't think it was a game changer and the fact it wasn't made the battles quite weird.....
Now i think you got it.....
yeah, I loove SerperiorIs that a Serperior?
Isn't this guy named Zelda, and this is Link? This is obviously Ganondorf too. Also this is a dude and isn't Zelda. That's a lie and you know it. You're probably one of those people who think is named Link when he's named Zelda.
I keep saying I'm going to play golden Sun but I never do. I gotta fix thatYoure supposed to use and abuse buffs and debuffs. In fact, your third party member (forgot his name) learns Bind after you give him enough wind type djiins, which is capable of blocking access to Psyenergy attacks for your enemies.
Also, some areas require experimentation to reach. For example, equipping a character with an earth and another water djinni causes that party member learns Growth, which can make the tiny sprouts grow into vines. Ths is never said anywhere in the game, enouraging experimentation, but in the bad way.
And yes, the abrupt ending was a huge flaw.
I keep saying I need to play/do/watch a lot of things....I guess I'm easy to ignoreI keep saying I'm going to play golden Sun but I never do. I gotta fix that
I've got exactly 22 games sitting in my backlog I've gotten for free from PS Plus that I haven't touched.I keep saying I'm going to play golden Sun but I never do. I gotta fix that
You should. Its one of the best RPGs I ever played.I keep saying I'm going to play golden Sun but I never do. I gotta fix that
>Tells me the final boss i never saw was awesome.I
Honestly I've actually not played the entire game , lol. But I might read this once I do!
I know what bind is, it actually was useful int he kraken to prevent ply, but here's the thing:Youre supposed to use and abuse buffs and debuffs. In fact, your third party member (forgot his name) learns Bind after you give him enough wind type djiins, which is capable of blocking access to Psyenergy attacks for your enemies.

omg Okami is amazing, I love it so much.I've got exactly 22 games sitting in my backlog I've gotten for free from PS Plus that I haven't touched.
Plus Earthbound, Advance Wars, Super Metroid from the Virtual Console, and Okami, Majora's Mask 3D, and Tales of Symphonia.
Really need to get on that.
I shall put that onto my list, I actually don't have much on that list in the first placeYou should. Its one of the best RPGs I ever played.
Stop everything. Play Majora's Mask and Okami.I've got exactly 22 games sitting in my backlog I've gotten for free from PS Plus that I haven't touched.
Plus Earthbound, Advance Wars, Super Metroid from the Virtual Console, and Okami, Majora's Mask 3D, and Tales of Symphonia.
Really need to get on that.
it;s funny because with what you jsut told, it's one of my worst (maybe my worst, maybe). You should. Its one of the best RPGs I ever played.
I haven't played the game but I've seen another person play the final boss. Basically.>Tells me the final boss i never saw was awesome.
>admits to not have played the entire game
mind explaining?
Actually is the one that's named Ganondorf. is in fact Zelda, and so is but is called "Sheik" . is Link, not Zelda. Also lastly is called Tingle.Isn't this guy named Zelda, and this is Link? This is obviously Ganondorf too. Also this is a dude and isn't Zelda.
The fanbase doesn't even know their own characters, pfft.
Yeah, I really want to play it, but I want to get the games I don't care about out of the way.omg Okami is amazing, I love it so much.
The art is mother****ing beautiful
One of YOUR worstsit;s funny because with what you jsut told, it's one of my worst (maybe my worst, maybe).
You're supposed to spam defense buffs on Ivan if you want him to survive. He's the fragile apeedster. I dont recommend using his djinni since doing so weakens him. If you find very strong armor, equip it on him and pass the armor he had to someone else or sell it.>Tells me the final boss i never saw was awesome.
>admits to not have played the entire game
mind explaining?
I know what bind is, it actually was useful int he kraken to prevent ply, but here's the thing:
Ivan SUCKS! i constantly have to ply him with his so low HP and he's ALWAYS underlevelled by 2 levels.....
WHAT????
I COULD FREAKING GROW THESE FREAKING PLANTS THE WHOLE TIME?????????????
ok, worst tutorials confirmed....this is just ridiculous.
look, let me read in the manual, cause the manual BETTER explain stuff.....seriously, it;s the worst way to explain how to play a game....
One of YOUR worsts
...why you pointed what i said already?it;s funny because with what you jsut told, it's one of my worst (maybe my worst, maybe).
Did you just Toon Link is Tingle? Did you just say adorable Toon Link from my second favorite Zelda Game is Tingle?Actually is the one that's named Ganondorf. is in fact Zelda, and so is but is called "Sheik" . is Link, not Zelda. Also lastly is called Tingle.
Justice for All is my favorite. That game was just amazing.I still need to finish Ace Attorney : Investigations 2. After that, I'm gonna attack "Professor Layton Vs Ace Attorney : Phoenix Wright". And afterwards Apollo Justice and Dual Destinies.
Gotta complete all the Ace Attorney games.
Yeah I understand that" getting games you dont care about out of the way" Thing.Yeah, I really want to play it, but I want to get the games I don't care about out of the way.
Ex. all the games I got on PS Plus. I've got the entire Hitman series downloaded now. >.>
The problem is I skipped a lot of djinn because i couldn't figure out how to reach them (assumed I needed an upgrade and warp or something), some were really time consuming and so, I think I ended with like 6-7 djinn. You're supposed to spam defense buffs on Ivan if you want him to survive. He's the fragile apeedster. I dont recommend using his djinni since doing so weakens him. If you find very strong armor, equip it on him and pass the armor he had to someone else or sell it.
And yes, I only found out about Growth because I found too many earth djinnis and it was set automatically to Mia.
Imo, I loved that game. The puzzles, fast paced combat, beautiful scenery, and THAT ******* KICK*** COMBAT MUSIC heavily outweighted the flaws....why you pointed what i said already?
Best crossexamination theme. Period.Did you just Toon Link is Tingle? Did you just say adorable Toon Link from my second favorite Zelda Game is Tingle?
m8, i will wrek u.
Justice for All is my favorite. That game was just amazing.
Toon Link? You mean that character that sells maps? What does he have to do with anythingDid you just Toon Link is Tingle? Did you just say adorable Toon Link from my second favorite Zelda Game is Tingle?
m8, i will wrek u.
Justice for All is my favorite. That game was just amazing.
Ironically, it's considered as one of the weakest game in the series. At least, in it's trilogy, it's the weakest. Though the last case was pretty ground breaking for the franchise, still to this day.Justice for All is my favorite. That game was just amazing.
Yeah, a lot of djinnis require certain ablities or some critical thinking to reach. I ended with 20 or something. You need them since they increase the stats of the person they are set to.The problem is I skipped a lot of djinn because i couldn't figure out how to reach them (assumed I needed an upgrade and warp or something), some were really time consuming and so, I think I ended with like 6-7 djinn.
Still, it's a huge logistic flaw.....I don't get why it was so ambiguous.....
No, best "Announce the Truth" theme :Best crossexamination theme. Period.
the puzzle were honestly weak, BUT, in a good way. they are supposed to not be annoying with random encounters.....and they do! Btw, this is something I complained in some RPG, this one doesn;t have it.Imo, I loved that game. The puzzles, fast paced combat, beautiful scenery, and THAT ******* KICK*** COMBAT MUSIC heavily outweighted the flaws.
Best crossexamination theme. Period.
My problem was that you just pick up a fancy sword and spam attacks until the bonus boss Deadbeard, where if you save and load right before him (as if you died to him) his AI loads an incredibly stupid seed. The only boss I ever needed strategy for was the second game's bonus boss Dullahan and his BS Djiin Storm which invalidated the main mechanic of the game.Youre supposed to use and abuse buffs and debuffs. In fact, your third party member (forgot his name) learns Bind after you give him enough wind type djiins, which is capable of blocking access to Psyenergy attacks for your enemies.

I recall I used these music when i glitch hunted. it was actually very fun, i had crossexaminaton when searching, the allegro version when I was on to something, the announce the truth when I was figuring soemthing out and finally, the cornered when I found something usefulNo, best "Announce the Truth" theme :
