Almost the entire roster in smash throws a punch and each and every one of them is unque so why cant a stylized character from Punch out not be able to use their own unique punches and special moves? And Mac's gimmick is the power meter from super punch out which non of the opponent characters have in any game.

The opponent characters of Punch out having their own style that is wildly different from Mac immediately makes them stand out.
Mac needed moves pulled out of thin air in order to stand out, so Id be very surprised if characters with a full list of unique moves had trouble standing out.

Personality is no reason to add a character. And the problem with just adding moves is that you then have to build a significantly unique character out of it, which is again something Sakurai struggled with when making Mac. Characters either need to be significantly unique, a Pokemon of Game Freak's choice, or a clone to get into Smash.

Personality is no reason to add a character. And the problem with just adding moves is that you then have to build a significantly unique character out of it, which is again something Sakurai struggled with when making Mac. Characters either need to be significantly unique, a Pokemon of Game Freak's choice, or a clone to get into Smash.

If personalty is what was required to get in smash, villager sure as hell wouldnt be in but then again he was planned since brawl

I'm pretty sure he never said it.
But I don't think Lancer is trying to say that he said it, I think he's trying to say that that's why Little Mac got in.
Granted, we have no way of knowing whether Sakurai though that up before or after LM was chosen to be in for sure, but he makes a good point. Characters in Smash really are full of unique gimmicks.
All of the Newcomes (Barring DP and Lucina)have their own cool gimmicks to them.
There's more to them than just regular punches and kicks.

I can't remember how my first match I've seen was, but it was around ten years ago now. I recall Triple H and Kurt Angle being on Raw at one point, but that's about it. Trips is semi active, Taker only wrestles at WrestleMania, Cena and Orton are still some top dogs, and a boatload of new faces are in. Some of the finishers we have today seems more impactful than ten years ago

I had first watched WWE shows 7 years ago. (Christian's theme song was always my favorite.) For about a year or two, I would watch Raw and SmackDown every week. Then I lost interest. And now I don't.

Not quite... But you're not far off.

Thats the thing though, Sakurai had to work with a limited potential with Mac which was a character that only knew how to do hooks and jabs and a spinning uppercut which even by boxing standards is not a variety of attacks. Sakurai literally had next to nothing to work with for Mac. Its pretty different from characters that can do more unique moves such as the Von Kaiser wave and Dreamland express.

Mac was a blank slate with nothing to work with except for one move so that would be why it was difficult.
