Does playing smash 4 really mess with melee skills?
Smash 4's forgiving grabs and defensive playstyle is bad for switching back to Melee.

My brother and I were trash when we replayed the game.

I won't ever play Melee again, so I luckily don't have to worry about that.

I love Melee, it's the most hype Smash game, more so than Smash 4, but if I were to play it I'd get shine'd. Because you do it for Fox.

Yeah lets not get into the Melee Vs Smash 4 debate again, some may take it too far.

Greatly actually. It kind of made me lose ambition to get better in melee.

esp. true if you play fox.
Actually, I used to main Fox and Falcon in Melee. While I haven't played the game more than a year ago (due to my Wii's disc drive ******* up), I still know some of the advanced techniques, such as basic wavedashing (and its derivatives, such as waveshining), moonwalking, L-cancelling, Up+B OoS, and a few more. Though, I do think I suck at this point..

It depends who you play, playing fox in one game or another will mess you up from Melee to Smash 4.

I have zero problems going back and forth with Peach. Same for Jiggs most likely.

No one here gives enough ****s to really care. A majority of us can differentiate between humor and debates.

The occasional lurker doesn't count.

I think a lot of people do. I took about 3-4 months to get back into the groove of competitive melee, so it's something that takes time but I feel it's worth it.

I have nothing against Melee, of course. I only meant that I have no intention of going back to it in the future. Or any previous Smash for that matter.

I find it easy to switch between Project M and Smash 4. None of my timings are messed with.

I want to get into Project M because I found Smash 4 way too defensive for my taste. I'm more of a reckless person and the Melee/Project M games allow this playstyle better than Smash 4.

I like Melee, but I hate how you have to know wavedashing and the strict timing of L-Cancels in order to stand a chance in a fight.

Nobody here is debating which game is better. We're just voicing our opinion on Melee and Smash 4.

I can't play Melee at all. Nor do I really want to. I always feel like I'm doing something wrong. I'd consider getting back into PM at some point maybe and playing Olimar. Or Roy again because I dropped him in Smash 4.

They ban Rosalina but not Custom DK
OK den
Is Rosalina seriously banned from stream? CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES C'MON!!

Yeah, this is how I feel too. I like how PM has auto L-cancel though. It makes me seem a lot better than I really am.

Same

it's one of the reasons I spend about an hour or 2 to practice melee everyday.

I see. I could try to get my Wii's disc drive to work, but I doubt it will ever come back from the dead. Melee is pretty much the only game I would really play on the system. I also need new GCN controllers.

I don't own a GameCube console, mind you.

There isn't really a melee v Smash 4 thing here.

Just people posting preferences and thoughts on going back and forth with the two games.

I like both but I prefer Smash 4 more overall.

These are just options, you're not obligated to do them, I barely fast fall in melee, but I do L-Cancel. I pick and choose the tools I like to use.

Project M has auto l-canceling as an option.
L-canceling is simple. The only issue is building up muscle memory. I found that, after finally going back to Melee from a 2 year hiatus, I was able to do it consistently after I practiced for like 5 minutes. Project M really helps with it too, since you flash white if you do it properly.
As for wavedashing, uh, it's not as important as you make it out to be. Besides, if you're going to play casually, why does it matter? It's not like I know how to perfect pivot to extend my Sheik combos by like 20% or so, I only really know how to do down-throw follow ups, and I have plenty of fun with Smash 4 despite not being that good.

I'm disappointed in this is what smash 4 streams have come to.
I just despise Rosalina as a character. It has nothing to with me finding her boring to watch or anything. If any other character had her moveset, I'd like her a lot more.
