I'll probably keep away from watching any streams. All I'm looking for is the full roster, and once that comes it'll be another long wait until I can actually play the game myself. Though we should have basic stats on each character by then, at least.

It'll be curious to see whether the competitive blokes think the custom moves are viable or not, and just to see what they are in general. Or if Miis will even be allowed. I don't know much about the goings on with that end, though I'm trying to learn.

Most certainly. Custom moves only add more depth to Smash 4. Banning them or something wouldn't make sense unless there were valid reasons. I can see the "Equipment" thing with items that power up the speed and strength of the moves getting banned, but not custom moves.
Miis will be playable...their custom specials could make them an issue, but I guess that will be heavily discussed when the streams start.

Myself... And my mortality..... I broke @★•Star_Lee•★'s heart, which in turn broke mine... Phosphora threatened me with my life to go out with her... I should have refused, it would have been a short end to all of this. I should have died for @★•Star_Lee•★'s sake... But I didn't, she's changed now, I broke her heart.... I don't think she will ever be happy again.... I need to get her back, I need for her to be happy.... I will regret the rest of my life if she's unhappy, for even a second more!

So how many people here have actually been to tournaments and such? What are the general basics that'd help an average bloke join the competitive scene? It'll probably be easier to jump in with the new games, since everyone kind of has to start from scratch.

So how many people here have actually been to tournaments and such? What are the general basics that'd help an average bloke join the competitive scene? It'll probably be easier to jump in with the new games, since everyone kind of has to start from scratch.

Never been to a tournament myself (competitive players talk too much **** for my taste most of the time), but things like being really solid on your mechanics (wave-dashing and such in Melee, for example), being competent with at least one fighter and knowing their weak/strong match-ups, and having a sparring partner who is dedicated to putting in hours of practice with you will really help you when preparing for a tournament. Beyond that, it's just practice practice practice. Some people recommend bringing headphones if you think the crowds will be too distracting, but it's up to you. Best of luck to you in your tournament-going endeavors.

Well I'm screwed.

The only "advanced technique" I could ever pull off was the DACUS, and that's apparently gone.

And my best character is probably cut, while my other best was nerfed horrendously.

Though I guess I'll have to see once I play the game. Olimar wasn't as bad as I thought he would be in the demo...
