You can enjoy him if you want. It's just very hard to please me these days. Some of the only things that would please me is acknowledgement of the 30th anniversary of Metroid and Kid Icarus (in 2016), a new KI game, and a proper Metroid. Tbh, the "30th anniversary of Zelda" mention already set me off.
Personally, the only thing that I liked in that Direct was Iwata's mention. But anyways, don't let my negativity affect you. I can't say this year was really great for me in general anyways, and it's often a challenge trying to get through it.

But jokes aside, I'm glad that he is in Smash for a good reason. The Super Smash Flash 2 team literally has NO excuses to exclude him from their roster and would have to make him as an expansion like any other Smash fighter. I wonder how Damien and the other devs feel about this sudden turn of events.

Oh believe me love, you have no idea how many years I've been waiting for this. Growing up with Final Fantasy and enjoying every bit of 7 related media (including fan works) was my life when I was a younger gamer. Seeing my all time favorite character from the franchise in Smash makes me so happy and it is an honor that he gets to have his rematch against Link. Who knows, maybe they make up and go on a date in the end.

Honestly though, most of my supported characters are from No Hopers to Unlikely.

Geno, Solo Trainer Red, Simon Belmont, CLOUD, Shadow, Takamaru, Saki, even the more popular picks like Shovel Knight and King K. Rool are up for grabs.

This is a very strange phenomenon. I have never played any Final Fantasy game, (besides crystal chronicles, but I doubt that counts,) and I should be worrying about an even further shortage of Roy mains, but . . . geez I'm pretty hype.

I can't lie, Nintendo dropped the ball on this Direct. Cloud is amazing, and they did an amazing job, but I'm already reading a million comments from everyone in chats saying it was a disappointment. Nintendo had fans waiting to see the ballot winner(s) and they didn't give it to them; nothing will suffice. It's nothing against Cloud; they could've put Jesus Christ in the game but people came to see the ballot winner and that they did not get. Nothing is more of a slap in the face than "wait another month". The first 40 minutes were a complete snooze on top of that too.

Since we didn't get our usual Smash "sword slash" intro I thought this was going to be a crossover game between FF and Smash and then I really would have lost my sh*t.

The ballot just ended a month ago and they probably want to have more to show off when they reveal the ballot winner(s) than just a list of names.

Slap to the face or not teasing that the announcement is going to happen in the future is going to drum up more hype and buzz than just throwing in during this direct. I also groan at the idea that making someone wait for a payoff is considered "a slap in the face" nowadays but that's a whole other discussion to be had.

Most of the people complaining now will completely ignore the fact that they ever had a problem with the wait once the announcement is made.

If you think people complaining is a bad thing, we'll have exponential more complaining and complaining much fiercer whenever we are actually given a ballot winner because it's not who x person wanted to win. Like the streets are gonna run red with blood.

A lot of people are actually quite happy and satisfied by the Cloud announcement. Holds a lot more surprise factor than a ballot announcement(which is more than likely an expected character because, popularity vote and all that) as well.
