I dunno. It just feels like whenever I try to do perfect breeding or training for IVs and EVs, it's like wasting my time on something I'm not enjoying when I could be doing something else. I just never feel compelled enough to do all of the things that most players these days say is "the only way to play Pokemon", because it doesn't excite or interest me enough to justify the time spent doing it.

It's not the only way. Play Pokémon games however you want.

I realize I'm not forced to play it that way, but the fact that I can't battle against anyone else because of my lack of EV/IV/Perfect Natures-style training makes me less interested and less inclined to play the games in general.

Funny, huh? My first time using an Action Replay was when I first played Leaf Green. I was battling one of my siblings via wireless adapters. We finished battling, I come out of the lobby, and I'm somewhere stuck in between some black abyss with Nurse Joy in the background. The game saved right after the battle, so I couldn't reverse it. It was horrifically tragic.

I'm an unabashed chocoholic, so I tend to just get chocolate cakes with chocolate icing and enjoy my cake that way.
