My parents were loose on the games I played, although the only games I played 'illegally' were GTA: VC, III and the first two Halo games. And just in case I brought my father along to buy Chinatown Wars, because I wasn't 18 at the time yet.

Well, none of my friends or me had parents who checked the games we played. We just played games we liked.

None of us grew to be horrible human beings.

You don't become a horrible person by just playing violent video games. There's always more behind it. However, those video games can enlarge those horrible thoughts.

I will definitely check what games my son/daughter wants to play, at least at first. I mean, once they get to around 16 or whenever I feel I can trust them to be mature enough, it won't really matter as much. My parents stopped checking on my games around that point.
