When SG told us to "Watch out for a real fighting game" I honestly didn't think they meant Super Turbo.

Oh well.

SG is sore losers at this point.. Kind of hard to top perfect ratings across the review boards, top console game awards, game of the year, and over 7 million copies (Melee stats for you). SG doesn't come close.. Fighting Game is kind of a loose term anyways, and smash defined its own unique fighting game genre. Its a fighting game but it's not typical, and Melee requires huge amounts of skill to play competitively.

In terms of fighting, smash is a different dimension, it doesn't feel like a 2d game. it doesn't feel limited to predetermined button combos and software patches.. we make the game competitive, and we do a darn good job at it.

Sore about what, Turbo or Melee? And you'd do better to point to an example than to pull this stuff out of thin air.

Sales data and review scores are arbitrary anyhow. The fighting game community (us included) knows better than to judge a competitive game based on that. Heck, donation drives aren't even a great yardstick.

Melee deserves a second round at EVO. Skullgirls also deserves for props as an indie fighter that's acutally good. ST? That game is legendary, but having it win over the other two would be a sign that the FGC is too set in their ways to give much of a **** about accommodating anyone else. Having it fall to Melee would be a victory over the status quo. Beating Skullgirls was always going to be bittersweet if it happened. But besting ST would be the greater accomplishment.
