Skullgirls is a fast-paced 2D fighting game that puts players in control of fierce female warriors in an extraordinary Dark Deco world. From Autumn Games and Reverge Labs, Skullgirls uses advanced graphical technology to feature the unique art of Alex Ahad (Scott Pilgrim, Lava Punch) in collaboration with renowned tournament champion Mike "Mike Z" Zaimont. Calling to mind old-school arcade fighters – with a high-definition twist – it’s a one-of-a-kind, action-packed competition complete with awesome combos and an intriguing backstory.

Set in the fictional Canopy Kingdom, Skullgirls pits players against ranks of deadly but beautiful opponents in an attempt to control the enigmatic Skull Heart, a mysterious artifact with the power to bestow wishes – but not without a substantial price. Should the soul be less than pure, both the victor's wish and her being shall be corrupted into a living nightmare that haunts humanity. She will be known as the Skullgirl, a monstrous entity of immense power.

Aww man, I was hoping they'd all be skeletons.

The art style is beautiful though!

Wow that thread is like a million years old. Just lock that one and unlock this. Ophy presented the game better in the OP than CRASHiC did.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like it will. :(

Only 3 out of the 8 planned characters are completed so far.

But that also means they're putting a looot of detail into it which is always a good thing.

You sure only 3 characters are done? Maybe they've only shown 3, just as every game doesn't include every character in their previews... or do you have something to back that up?

Wow, you're seriously going to try to argue with me about this?

Go to 4chan or youtube if you're really that eager to start such pointless crap.

I'm sure that the development team has already created more characters, they are probably too lazy to make a new video update or something, besides it's due sometime in 2011 so I wouldn't worry so much, Im sure it won't get scrapped.

Why would they stop making demo videos for characters?
They've said they want to make fans a big part of this and give them as much info as possible, they're not trying to hide anything.
As of a couple weeks ago according to one of the blog posts only 3 1/2 of the characters had voices their voice overs completed.

There's no reason they'd start keeping secrets from the fans now when for the passed 2 years they've done nothing but share every improvement and update on the game.

They often have demo version of the game at local events with all of the current characters available to play.

Apparently I wasn't aware of them making a blog. <_<

Strangly though, according to Wikipedia it's due sometime this summer, but yet no character models have been released? Hopefully they will at least make that demo available for PSN or 360, it's way too long.

Well, delays aren't uncommon in the game business, especially for a small company. A demo might be a possibility, though.

It's definitely not finished. One of the Dustloop guys was asking people for colour palette ideas the other day.

But I want it to be! :(

Oh yeah.
The color palettes for this game are also amazing.
Much better than most of the BB/GG palettes.

I do know that there will be colors referencing things. Like, Peacock has a Cirno color (I'm pretty sure it's Peacock)

If I play this game, I'll more than likely run a 2 person team, mostly because of the whole 'any move can be an assist' system.

To be fair, MvC3s voice clips for Jill and Shuma weren't done until the last second, they weren't even done by launch. Don't take Voice progression as an only indicator of progress.

You know, one time, I was sitting at a guilty gear tournament, and Mike Z walked past me through the crowd, his butt rubbed against my arm, this only happened because his *** is HUGE.

This is unfortunately a true story.

During the Skullgirls panel they had at Evo, when asked how many characters they were going to have in the end, Mike Z said he couldn't say.

Makes me think there's probably gonna be more than 8.

Oh and for anyone interested here's the panel:
