Simultaneous edgehog and Nana smash?

As an Ice Climbers player, it's not rare that I find myself smashing someone offstage and being stuck with the responsibility of keeping them out there. However, lately I've been dreaming of a way to grab the edge with Popo and smash with Nana if I think the opponent isn't going to go for the edge.

My first reflex was to C-Stick away from the edge, but that causes Popo to let go. Same for down. That isn't acceptable and ruins the entire point of edgehogging.

Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, how?

The most effective method I know of is to WD back to edge, then stand up or do your get up attack. Then have Nana D/F Smash. It can also be done with rolling of the stage. This is useful if you see your opponent landing on the stage, because Popo will get clear while Nana smashes them. If your opponent manages to get away from Nana, Popo will already be there, ready to punish their mistake.

When I played Chu Dat this weekend I saw him desynch, charge nanas f-smash, and walked then turned around near the edge which caused him to edgehog with Popo. I was practicing it earlier and it's hella hard to do.

It's in Double Vision. Unfortunately the technique isn't very useful. You can't command Nana to attack while you're hanging on the ledge -- she ignore anything you do. You also can't have her charge a smash and then drop onto the ledge; she will let go of the smash as soon as you leave the level.

Well actually, if you hit Z while edgehogging and Popo gets up slowly, I believe you have a brief interval to control Nana which you can use to Smash. It is possible, but I'm finding it quite impractical for now, though I'm not that great really.

For me it works best to make nana charge a d-smash while you are going to edgehog, that way it might be possible to sweetspot at the same time as you grab the ledge...
