Now, we all know there are clones of characters in melee. Marth/Roy, Pikachu/pichu, ganon/falcon, fox/faco, mario/dr.mario, etc. However, we also know that certain clones (ganon/falcon are a good example) have almost completely different playstyles.
Now let's go back to good ole Melee. Say a player wants to pick up an alternate character, but they don't want to play a completely different experience; they want things to be somewhat familiar.
So I ask the smash community this: which characters have similar playstyles?
Some that I was thinking of...
zelda/jiggs. Both are floaties that rely on good side-aerials and mindgames. (Note, when i say "similar playstyles," I don't mean "similar effectiveness")
falcon, fox, shiek. Go ahead, come at me, but all three are fast, medium-heavy (cept fox), stick low to the ground, and rely on the same, repetitive combos leading up to the same kill move. (knee, upsmash, fair; respectively)
Marth/Ganon. Spacing, spacing, spacing. Whether it be the tip of the sword or the end of the fair, both characters rely HEAVILY on spacing. Also, they both have a great ledge gaurd - they knock you off the stage and you don't come back.
Link/Samus. Obligatory mention here. The King and Queen of campy projectile bull****, as well as game-breaking recovery bull****.
