well it depends really. My parents dont really take interest in me playing games (actually, the wii has taken their interest) but the main factor for me is to get better. I play because I enjoy getting better. You've probably just hit a wall and need some motivation. Maybe a serious beating off someone would be the wakeup call you want.

How would you rate yourself honestly? use the most recent rate yourself topic (by andromeda) and try and find someone in your city/state who would be of a similar or higher level.

Why are you quitting? Don't quit something you love playing, man.

****, atleast you have locals in your area. Plus you are winning them and probably getting noticed. In my area, it's freakin STALE. No one plays smash . But should I quit? No. It's because I know other smashers who are close by my area and they are good.

I agree with Aiko above me for what he said about hitting a wall. If you're feeling down, just take a break, man. Sometimes smash gets the most of us and we hate thinking about it. I been thinking about smash and its scene around my parts and how it was question why I still play it competitively. And you know what? I can't quit playing competitvely. Although looking for matches and practice can be a *****, just think about what will happen when you finally get to play; goin to ****in tourneys, meetin some kool peeps, and traveling. If you quit, then you will probably be bored (If you aren't doing stuff other than smash.). If you quit, you'll miss some neat experience.

If you enjoy the game, keep playing it. It really is as simple as that. What else do you want us to tell you?

haha! Dude! You have no idea how lucky you are to even have locals to play against xD!

Anyways, here's my scope:

All my friends suck also, but I love the game and I love getting better! I'm tutoring my friends and they're getting better too (you should tutor your friends too =) ). Show them the Advanced How to Play videos. Maybe they'll get better! Anyway, I keep training cause when I'm older and I get to travel, Man- I'll get to play soo many people!

I wouldn't quit, keep at it!

P.S: However, if you don't have fun playing, ofcourse you should quit. But just FYI, you can feel like that for a night or two, then a few days later you'll find your love for the game again =)

Why don't you train the people who you keep beating. Just a thought. Maybe one day they may beat you, then it won't be the same all the time. If it's fun, keep playing.
This is a good idea, i've been doing the same. Pick some close friends and train them, they probably won't object (unless they don't want to puit the effort into practicing a technique that requires fast fingers).

One of my friends is below the rest of us, so I plan to train him to get him back into the general level of the rest of us. I feel that if I could train one of them and they become BETTER than me, that's even better :).

Unless U Live In North Jersey I Suppose U Quit Because Otherwise You Wont Play Me. Yea The Game Gets Boring Without A Challege Or Playing New People But Thts Wat Smash Boards Is For. Um, If U Dont Have Serious Asperations Of Being A Pro Then Quit Until Brawl.

Artie what region do you live in? I'm sure some of us could find someone for you. Or make a post in the regional forums asking for competition in your area. Unless you live in Antarctica I think you may be surprised.

If you want to quit, quit. If you don't want to quit, don't quit. Don't ask us if we think you should!

Jesus dude if you think you have it hard you want to hear about my latest deboggle. We in Dublin,Ireland used to have a group of smashers that numbered at 15.(25 or more at tournies)We used to play pretty much every day at one of our respective houses. We were all pretty close in tech skill etc except myself and a guy named Zac were always in the final of any tourney we'd play amongst ourselves(and others)with me coming out the winner every time.Eventually one of my best mates Davo (who had just started)asked if I would train him.Unfortunatly this was during our last year of school and we used to skip school alot to play smash, while my other smash friends didn't(the smart thing to do)It ended up with me and Davo getting sevenfold better than all the others in our group and them not being able to touch us.So they all say "im bored of smash"and they stopped playing because we were too good. Now only me and Davo REALLY play and were so evenly matched. My other friends play sometimes but get destroyed and say how "we ruined smash with the MLG rules"Little do they know how rewarding it is when you get good at all the advanced techniques and have someone else of equal skill to play against.Basically I have 4-5 people to play against now and only 2 of them are a challenge(and they have only 1-2 characters where as I have 5!)I need more good players!Ireland sucks for the smash scene.**** Halo taking all the limelight and tournies. There isin't any real tournies here and I have to go to England to enter one.

Just check out the regional boards and see if there are smashers near you. Go to some local smashfests/tourneys.
