The following is not an attack on either of you, just wanted to get some points across and defend the game!
I figure that if it doesn't sell all that well, it will be a slap in the face to Capcom. "Bad Capcom... no Devil May Cry ripoffs... now give us another of the real thing." So, I'm definitely not going out of my way to buy the game.... especially not with much better things (Dante's Inferno, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, etc.) coming out (or already out) this year.
Also, the main thing I find unnattractive about Bayonnetta is that she has weird hair... and her outfit is made out of her hair (geez... shave, woman), and she's supposedly 10 feet tall.
Okay, sorry for being off topic here but I figured I'd jump in and defend Bayonetta a little bit. First off, Bayonetta is not in any way associated with Capcom; it's made by Platinum Games which is made up of many of the members of the now disbanded Clover Studio (who made Viewtiful Joe and Okami) and was ported to the PS3 by Sega. It's not Capcom at all so you have no worries of Capcom focusing on Bayonetta because...well...they didn't make the game o_O
Also, I dunno where you get that she's ten feet tall (or if that was a joke), she's normal human size even when she's wearing heels.
- I hate how overly sexulized the game is
- I hate how they try to turn the protagonist into a sex icon when she isn't even remotely atractive (librarian + hooker =/= "hawt")
- The game is stupidly easy, as in, I beat every single boss in the demo by just moving out of the way of it's attacks while holding down the square button. It's also worth mentioning that because of this I didn't even realize that triangle did anything until my second time through
- Over all, it just isn't a very impressive or memorable game in my book.
-The game is oversexualized in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way. In another post you mentioned how you thought it was a joke at first and then realized the game expected you to take itself seriously. If you play through it, you realize that it doesn't take itself very seriously at all and that it's oversexualized to such a point that it's used as humor instead of arrousal.
-Matter of opinion on whether she's attractive, she's a female character who's aware of her looks and her sexuality, thus she flaunts it in a humorous way.
-IIRC, the only boss in the demo is Jeanne who can't be beaten by holding square because she blocks your bullets. All of the other enemies fought in it are very common reoccuring enemies, even the gigantic foe with the axe. The demo is also set to Normal difficulty (although it feels much easier than in the finished version) so the player isn't even experiencing Hard or Non-Stop Climax mode (both of which offer a very reasonable yet tricky challenge). Also, it's kind of understandable that you didn't have fun with it if all you did was hold down square to shoot the enemies to death; you didn't even get to toy around with the combos or the other weapons (of which there are numerous unique ones).
Granted if it's still not your cup of tea that's understandable, I don't plan on changing your minds, just filling in some important details.
On Topic: I'd wait a while to pick up a 360 if you're still interested at all; if you only have eight games that interest you, like you said, it may not be worth the investment. That being said, when I picked up my PS3 there weren't a TON of games I was determined to buy, but I ended up buying quite a few and lots more good ones came out.
