Should I get a 360

Devil May Cry is one of the Beat-'em-ups that I liked. Great combat, lot's of ways to costomize your character, and it's tons of fun.

What did you think of Beyonetta? I personally didn't like it. Like, at all.
Haven't played it... I am NOT paying 60 bucks to help pay for Capcom to potentially forsake DMC as their main beat em up series in favor of something that sounds more like a fettish ridden acid-trip than a game. I MIGHT buy the game when it falls in price eventually.

Thanks. I thought that it wouldn't be ported anyway. I think that it's interesting that the western release for XIII is getting an Xbox and a PS3 port, but for eastern release it's only going to be a PS3 port. Sucks for them.
Not really. The 360 has close to zero popularity in Japan. So... yeah.

Well, I don't know what you'll think but this is what I got from playing the demo:

- I hate how overly sexulized the game is
- I hate how they try to turn the protagonist into a sex icon when she isn't even remotely atractive (librarian + hooker =/= "hawt")
- The game is stupidly easy, as in, I beat every single boss in the demo by just moving out of the way of it's attacks while holding down the square button. It's also worth mentioning that because of this I didn't even realize that triangle did anything until my second time through
- Over all, it just isn't a very impressive or memorable game in my book.

I figure that if it doesn't sell all that well, it will be a slap in the face to Capcom. "Bad Capcom... no Devil May Cry ripoffs... now give us another of the real thing." So, I'm definitely not going out of my way to buy the game.... especially not with much better things (Dante's Inferno, Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, etc.) coming out (or already out) this year.

Also, the main thing I find unnattractive about Bayonnetta is that she has weird hair... and her outfit is made out of her hair (geez... shave, woman), and she's supposedly 10 feet tall.

But seriously... Librarian + Witch + Stripper + Hunter of Fallen Angels = Acid Trip

You know the sad thing about Bayonetta? When I saw the teaser trailer a while back and I saw a ten-foot chick with guns attatched to her shoes I thought that it was going to be some kind of parody of... something. Turns out they actually expect you to take the game seriously, who would have guessed?

I can take it seriously more easily than Halo... and Namco... and Twilight... and Christian Bale... and the majority of MMO's (Guild Wars being my only current exception)... and Al Gore.... and *list goes on*.

None of these are saying much.... at all.

But in all seriousness... Devil May Cry 5... I must have it... now... *starts experiencing DMC withdrawal symptoms*.

You're not supposed to take the game seriously at all. If someone told you differently, then they were probably trolling you.

360 doesn't have SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS! Don't kill me Teran >_<;

Xbox has alot of problems just as you said..even now they're are semi frequent hardware issues, yet it was the first of this gen's consoles to be released and we're probably halfway or better to the next hardware generation. Every console has it's exclusives. You have to figure out if they're enough for you to warrent buying the system.

When the dreamcast came out I was Sonic fan numero uno, in my mind anyway. I bought it just for SA and SA2. And aside from Marvel vs Capcom, that's really all that I use it for even now. Because I broke sa2 battle somehow and I don't yet have sa dx .__.;

But exclusives don't stay exclusives alot either. Halo's the only one I can think of for xbox and that too you can play on PC. I'm sure 3 and osdt will make it to PC eventually if you like those. I never got either the ps3 or 360. Because until recently they were too much freakin money, seriously..

Because of how unreliable the 360 is..if I did get one of the two, I'd get the ps3. My Uncle did[/] get the ps3 when it first came out and has never had an issue with it. Ever. Ask a 360 owner that who's had the console more than a couple months...or weeks =/

With my luck at least...the 360 would Red Ring on me or catch fire or something....the day after the warranty expired .___.;

Better idea: don't listen to the PS3/360 fan-boys, they are all stupid and will give you the most biased possible advice. They do everything in their power to make the opposing system look like trash There is no possible way to get an accurate view of either system when you're only getting your information from some guy who has a personal vendetta against it. In reality they are both very good systems.

Research it yourself. Try it out at friend's places if you can. Look at the game options.

But seriously, do yourself a favor and ignore the fan-boys. They will not give you help.

If you want my opinion, they are both great systems. I'm not a huge console gamer these days, but 360 has been more entertaining for me, but most of the games I play on it (Orange box, Assassins Creed, Oblivion, Fallout) - bar Mass Effect - are also on the PS3. I will say that Mass Effect has become one of my favorite games of all time, and you definitely need to play it if you are interested. Is it worth buying a 360 for? You have to make that decision.

I wouldn't buy that 360 if I were you...

Agreed. The PS3 is definitely the superior console overall.

Online:
360- Pay for a connection- yes, you're paying for internet you already have. On top of that you're buying a $100 wireless adaptor... the ****ing Wii has a built in wireless adaptor and everyone makes fun of it. Xbox Live also has the worst community.
PS3- Free online. Thank you, Sony.

Now remember, the quality of the online is superior on XBL. I've tried both and if anything, Xbox live online the only thing that I'll miss when comparing it to my PS3. Not to say PS3 online is bad. Its actually a very good online system but 360's is better.

As for connectivity, I'm fairly sure if your 360 is in the same room you can use a cable that comes with it. If not then I agree its a completely stupid choice by Microsoft.

Game Selection (just some examples):

360-
1) Halo
2) Halo 2
3) Halo 3
3.5) Halo 3 ODST
4) Halo Reach
5) Modern Warfare 2 (multiplat)
6) Assassin's Creed 1 (multiplat)
7) Assassin's Creed 2 (multiplat)
8) Tales of Vesperia (the real winner) (multiplat in Japan, may be multiplat in NA later, but unconfirmed)
9) Mass Effect 1
10) Mass Effect 2
11) Devil May Cry 4 (multiplat)
12) Final Fantasy XIII (multiplat)
13) Blazblue (multiplat)
14) Bayonetta (multiplat)

That's pathetic, especially considering most of the titles are multiplat or FPS's.

PS3-
1) Demon's Souls
2) Tales of Vesperia (in Japan, but may be released internationally later)
3) Devil May Cry 1 (PS2)
4) Devil May Cry 3 (PS2)
(Screw Devil May Cry 2. I'm a fan, but that's an awful game.)
5) Devil May Cry 4 (multiplat)
6) Infamous
7) Modern Warfare 2 (multiplat)
8) Assassin's Creed 1 (multiplat)
9) Assassin's Creed 2 (multiplat)
10) Final Fantasy XIII (multiplat)
11) Blazblue (multiplat)
12) God of War I
13) God of War II
14) God of War III
15) Resistance
16) Little Big Planet
17) Bayonetta (admittedly better on 360)
18) Metal Gear Solid 4

That's pretty impressive... Has a wide range of games including FPS, Beat Em Up, RPG, Sandbox, etc. I would be able to name more if I actually had much knowledge of the PS3.
4 of the games you listed on PS3 were on the PS2 (god of war 1 and 2, collection does not count). Other then that, I agree. PS3 has way more variety and overall better games. Unless you want a better online system or a FPS system, PS3 is almost always a better choice. However, I would research anyway and see which games you like and see if its worth buying a console for.

Cost:
360- Same as PS3 slim (and I'm pretty sure that's without the 360's hard drive).... but it's going to break down in a month or two, causing it to require repairs... oh joy...
Fortunately there is the....
360 Elite- Pay another 100 dollars for what should have been already included... and it probably still doesn't have that wireless adapter (I wouldn't know... I don't own one).
Wrong. Arcade is $169 (? May be $199) but elite is $299. The price is the same for both. Even the $250 GB hardrive versions are the same price. However, IMO the PS3 version has the superior bundles. GOW collection + LBP GoTY version/batman arkham asylum + infamous but that is up to personal preference and if you really care for bundles or not.
Graphics:
PS3 wins... Nuff said.

Ummm....the graphics are almost the same. From multiple pic shots of the same scene of a game, I found the graphics to be a bit darker on PS3 (I found a site online where the compared the graphics).

IMO, if you already bought a PS3, it wouldn't be the best idea to buy another system that is extremely similar to it (Yes, ps3 and 360 are very similar, there called HD twins for a reason). Beyond the exclusives, which seem to be dwindling between the 2 with many "exclusives" going to both systems at some point, the 2 systems are fairly similar.

Graphically, the PS3 is more powerful, but it's not drastic. The only people who will tell you that the PS3 has significantly better graphics are the fan-boys, who for some reason will do anything in their power to make 360 look bad.

Console wars are amongst the stupidest I see in the world. I mean, I see people argue opinions all the time, but with consoles it is just ridiculous. Case in point: "There you go. Call me a PS3 ****er if you will, but I'm not one... and I'ld be the ****er that won this thread through fact. Thank you."

No, it's not fact, it's opinion, and extreme, hardcore bias is not a way to form an educated opinion.

For the record, I have both a PS3 and a 360.

EDIT:
Oh, here's a list of 360/PS3 exclusives. I don't know how up-to-date it is, but yeah.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_games_exclusive_to_a_seventh_generation_console

Could help make a decision. Check out the exclusives, ask yourself if it's worth it, haha.

Kind of hard to do when I'm a PS3 fanboy myself. Seriously, you should see some of the hate that I've given the 360....

Research it yourself. Try it out at friend's places if you can. Look at the game options.
I have done extensive reasearch on the 360, and... well, I'm not making anything up when I say that with only two exepctions, all of my friends own a 360. So yes, I have played the system a lot in the past. I seriously love that controller....

But seriously, do yourself a favor and ignore the fan-boys. They will not give you help.
Well I wouldn't say that all fans will tear the opposing system apart. But you're talking about fanboys here, so... yeah.

I'm highly interested in Mass Effect, to the point where I'm considering buy a console over it. However, at this point I think I've come full ciricle and I might just suck it up and get a better computer in a few years.

Thanks for the advice. A lot of so-called "exclusives" going PS360, I guess it really is up to you to just decide which console you enjoy playing said games on more. Granted I do perfer the PS3 for several reasons....

New computer > 360, IMO. So I would go with that.

But I edited with a list of console exclusives if you are interested.

Thanks for that list, btw. I actually remember enjoying a lot of those games in the past... Kameo, Chrome Hounds, Perfect Dark Zero...

There's also a few on there that look kind of interesting. 99 Nights, Beautiful Katamari* Lost Odysey, and the Fable games have also cought my interest.

In addition to that we also have Halo 3, the two Mass Effects, Dead Rising and the upcomming Allen Wake. I know what I can get Mass Effect 1 and 2 along with Wake on the PC. Hmm... I should go try some of those games that interest me...

*Didn't they also put out one for the PS3 as well? I'm not really into Katamari all that much, even though I do like the games.

Unless you really want to play the exclusives, I would say no. Bayonetta was the first game I bought for my 360 in over a year, and that was just because of technical issues for the PS3 port.

Other than myself possibly purchasing Shadow Complex in the future, it's just collecting dust. :ohwell:

... so, someone said in this thread that the 360 didn't have any wifi. I thought that that only applied to older models, turns out that even the most recient 360s don't have built-in wifi. Okay, the freaking Wii has built in wifi. Hell, handheld systems like the PSP or Nintendo DS have built-in Wifi! I was seriously considering getting a cheap $200 360 because after doing some more research on the 360's library of games I found that there were plenty I wanted to play. And even though I have no interest in playing online I'd still use XBLA for demos, but... no built-in wifi!? That's a deal breaker for me, Microsoft.

To add to the graphics thing...unless it's a true ps3 only exclusive, developers the game is going to be made so tha it plays well on both consoles. Which means, most of the time, a bit of the ps3's horsepower is never really utilized. It doesn't really matter that it's more powerfull because the games are made like it isn't..more often than not.

And as a result, the PS3 will have a longer lifespan. Sony consoles tend to age particularly well. There are still games being made for the PS2. How long did the original Xbox last? Four years. I'm surprised the 360 has lasted as long as it has.

The following is not an attack on either of you, just wanted to get some points across and defend the game!

Okay, sorry for being off topic here but I figured I'd jump in and defend Bayonetta a little bit. First off, Bayonetta is not in any way associated with Capcom; it's made by Platinum Games which is made up of many of the members of the now disbanded Clover Studio (who made Viewtiful Joe and Okami) and was ported to the PS3 by Sega. It's not Capcom at all so you have no worries of Capcom focusing on Bayonetta because...well...they didn't make the game o_O

Also, I dunno where you get that she's ten feet tall (or if that was a joke), she's normal human size even when she's wearing heels.

-The game is oversexualized in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way. In another post you mentioned how you thought it was a joke at first and then realized the game expected you to take itself seriously. If you play through it, you realize that it doesn't take itself very seriously at all and that it's oversexualized to such a point that it's used as humor instead of arrousal.
-Matter of opinion on whether she's attractive, she's a female character who's aware of her looks and her sexuality, thus she flaunts it in a humorous way.
-IIRC, the only boss in the demo is Jeanne who can't be beaten by holding square because she blocks your bullets. All of the other enemies fought in it are very common reoccuring enemies, even the gigantic foe with the axe. The demo is also set to Normal difficulty (although it feels much easier than in the finished version) so the player isn't even experiencing Hard or Non-Stop Climax mode (both of which offer a very reasonable yet tricky challenge). Also, it's kind of understandable that you didn't have fun with it if all you did was hold down square to shoot the enemies to death; you didn't even get to toy around with the combos or the other weapons (of which there are numerous unique ones).

Granted if it's still not your cup of tea that's understandable, I don't plan on changing your minds, just filling in some important details.

On Topic: I'd wait a while to pick up a 360 if you're still interested at all; if you only have eight games that interest you, like you said, it may not be worth the investment. That being said, when I picked up my PS3 there weren't a TON of games I was determined to buy, but I ended up buying quite a few and lots more good ones came out.

You bothered way too much to acknowledge a critic who has never played the actual game: "If I played Bayonetta I'm sure it would suck based off it's poor demo disc and online trailer."
