Truth, man. Truth.some of us still play the actual game.
Yeah, this.some of us still play the actual game.
Without Shoddy, truely competitive Pokemon would be nearly impossible without hacking devices. I don't want to spend hundreds upon hundreds of hours trying to EV train, IV breed, nature breed, moveset breed, etc.Yeah, this.
I don't play competitively, really, but I still prefer the original game over Shoddy. I don't even have Shoddy because it just seems so...artificial. Probably because it is. It's fine that other people want to do it, I'm just surprised (and slightly annoyed) that it's become the default for Pokemon battles.
No, it would be nearly impossible without time and effort. Which is like Brawl players johning about how they like Brawl because they don't actually have to put in as much effort to play competitively in Brawl as they would have in Melee. Sorry, I don't buy that. EV training, IV breeding, etc. is time-consuming and difficult, but isn't that the idea? Overall I'm not going to convince anyone else, but...Shoddy is as good as using a hacking device within the normal limits of the game. It's as if you were to add in an auto-L-Cancel into Melee; a button that you can press to do wavedashing without having to press the combination. A SHFFL button. You still have to have the strategy to use them, but the other work is just automatically done for you. It feels cheap to me, and even when you're talking about new games, even those such as Diamond and Pearl which are lackluster at best, I'd prefer to play the original game. I thought Umbreon was talking about how the Official server didn't ban Chompy and his friends.
I wouldn't consider EV training etc. an AT, because once you get an AT down, you got it for life (mostly). No, it would be nearly impossible without time and effort. I don't know. I see your points, but I'm never going to feel accomplished fighting with Pokemon that I just chose everything for. There's no work involved except for developing a strategy. I'm not sure where to really start. Hmm, let's talk about first getting a Pokemon that can compete at a competitive level. In Pokemon, that means near-perfect IVs, good nature, and moves from parents. Nature isn't too hard- find a Ditto with the nature you want (can take a while), give it an everstone, and bam. IVs are a completely different story, and EXTREMELY hard to come by, so I won't even get into that. Once you have a decent Pokemon and have bred them for the proper moveset, you start EV training to level 100, which without hacking/cheating devices takes up many hours.
Do that 6 more times for a team.
Even more if you want variation in your teams/different movesets.
Also, not everyone has access to WiFi, and therefor not to many Pokemon. Before I got my WiFi adapter, I would have NEVER been able to get Infernape, Sceptile, etc.
What I'm trying to say is that DPP themselves aren't practical for competitive play. Its time consuming, unequal, and just can't as deep as Shoddy, which eliminates the annoying training and gives everyone the same pieces.
Sure, Shoddy is far less personal, but this is competitive battling. I don't care if its artificial.
I understand what you mean, Firus. Shoddy does take away what many Pokemon fans consider to be one of the best elements of the game- training.I don't know. Yeah the person who made Shoddy Battle is horrible.ss118 said:Shoddy isn't "bad". Just the person who made it
Yeah he does. But not on ThursdaysI hear he eats babies.
This person speaks truth.what's wrong with playing pokemon just for the strategy? I sure as hell know I don't play pokemon because their cute(though in some cases it's true =3)
Some people like to play their favorites. I guess you're not one of them.I understand what you mean, Firus. Shoddy does take away what many Pokemon fans consider to be one of the best elements of the game- training.
There is no reason to use uncompetitive Pokemon on Shoddy, except if you like losing.
I'm sorry, Umbreon, but I really botched that last post of mine. I meant to say play uncompetitively, not use uncompetitive Pokemon. I do use favorites. Some people like to play their favorites. I guess you're not one of them.
We need more players like you. I just don't see enough Scizor Heatran on Shoddy. Only 3/4ths of all teams have them, so clearly the last 25% of players like to lose, and that's just uncompetitive.
