Well, I'm happy to note that Shiek has more than likely been nerfed.
Also, Sakurai referred to Sheik as a female, which is something nice to have cleared up.

I never really ruled out the possibility of Sheik being in completely, but the idea was slowly looming over me the closer we got to release and the lack of information we had about it. It just made so much sense for Zelda to retain her Twilight Princess capabilities, but this is fine and works too. I'm actually relieved that Sheik is in. One of those original characters that would be unfortunate to lose I think. Rapid fire daggers, a static whip, classic deku nut-splosion exit for her third jump. This may be overshadowed by the pistol whip (literally) wielding Samus in terms of comparing originality, but screw that, Sheik is one of the classic Melee characters, this is great news.

Use Zelda’s down special move to transform into Sheik! Once you do so, you’ll have access to a new character completely unique from Zelda.

Sheik doesn’t appear in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but we based her model on a design that was drafted up during the development of that game.
