I'm inexperienced in teams and therefore suck in them. Sheik's pretty amazing in teams, though. Any insight? What general role should she play? How does that deviate depending who partners with her? And what's the best way to pull off epic team saves? Anything, really.

sheik discussion in teams plz :)

Darc and dazwa have always teamed as sheik/jigglypuff, sheik serving as the defender while he lets jigglpyuff rest/gimp people, altho i'm sure they switch up strats based on matchups. if dazwa searches his name he'll find this eventually lmao

Me and Kage beast teams when we enter or do pretty good mostly because I just try to rescue him whenever he's in trouble and gimp anyone he knocks off with a random bair/fair. Sheik/Ganon has Sheik do most of the support stuff ie. gimping and saving.

Her Bair is too good in teams.

D-smash is also too good in teams.

If you have a partner who can gimp in any way possible just D-smash or try to Bair/Fair the opponent off and have them gimp them while you protect them. Sheik's massive range and lack of significant lag makes her an amazing defender for when your partner's doing something gay.

In general be careful doing D-throw with Sheik in teams. It's kind of slow. Sheik can get grabs pretty easy in teams though with her massive grab range and speed and boost grab so team grab combos like grab-U-smash (with Fox partner) are real easy to get if you're quick.

In general Bair/Fair off platform, and D-smash are really good for attacking a mob, and from there just isolate someone and either gimp or protect your teammate when he's gimping. Sheik's team support game is stupidly good.

Sheik can play both roles. Be the campy one, or the offensive one. Really depends on who you pair up with. But Sheik is pretty much a universal teams partner. Basically if the person you team with is faster than you (not character wise, just playstyle wise) usually they will be the offensive one. But it's very easy to mix it up tbh.

my main problem is i get too caught up in my opponent when i actually do land a hit. what is the best way to get around that? it's more mental than anything; because i don't really have an idea of what i should be doing, and what i am currently doing doesn't work, i know i'm leaving a lot of potential untapped.

i feel much much more comfortable being the defensive / support character (and stock saving cuz my DI *****, true story), so i try to focus on that

In my personal opinion, watch Isai playing Sheik in teams. His play just gives way more examples of how to be effective defensively/aggressively. He's just very strong at holding his focus off while punishing any mistake ken's opponent makes. Like if Ken upthrows and he DI's towards Isai Ken is already running towards the edge of the stage, because he knows Isai is going to bair or fair to bring him back to Ken.

After playing so much smash you should be able to put on a type of cruise control safe conservative style of attacking that allows you to focus on other stuff kinda like a 70/30 split. spam safe bairs around their shield and let them jump into it, space needles, chase rolls etc., u r constantly attacking but ready to run off to another fight on a whim.

and umm... sheik is sicknasty at team combos, really easy to combo off your partner and finish their combos. marth/ falcon grab a fastfaller i disappear and fair them out the uthrow, let my teammate follow it up while i bair the guy chasing me. bair is too good at zoning, u can literally make a wall to keep someone from helping his partner or getting where he wants to.

thats a useful strat as well, if u run away from someone to go *** around with another fight they usually get all insulted that u are ignoring them and come plowing after u like they always do in anime fights like "I AM YOUR OPPONENT!" And this alone inherently leaves alot of openings in their approach and u can just intercept with a needle or bair.

dont limit yourself to a single fight, bounce around the stage and keep your eyes open, sheiks a ninja.

FOX SHEIK = BEST TEAM IN GAME

EDIT- I LOVEEEE ISAI'S SHEIK- i agree he is the definition of sheik in teams, but his sheik in general too. i was watching some isai sheik from 05' and he was doing ridiculous **** that i didnt know people did back then.

Sheik can be amazing in teams by playstyle. A gimpy Sheik can be a very great aggressor, and a defensive Sheik can protect his partner to no end. If you can do both, you excel quite well. But most importantly, it's just working with your partner's character. You need to be pretty supportive when it's Sheik/Puff. Sheik/Marth can scale either way, but usually your Marth will be doing his own thing and working off of your grabs. Fox just goes bat sh*t crazy on everything, so you have a bit of an option to be aggressive or be protective, really.

I'd say the most important thing when you and a teammate work off of eachother is grabbing and having some rules. Know who should have priority with edgeguards, on and off the stage. Know when to finish a partner's combo, and when to back off and make sure the opponent doesn't get away. Use needles to save your partner! It works wonders, for trulies. These are strictly guidelines, you will develop yourself with experience.

i think it largely depends on your playstyle. personally i like playing an azen esque role of chilling in the bank and going to work when one person is isolated. because of this, i really like aggressive spacies and peaches. they can not only be rabid and deal with multiple opponents because of attack speed, but they aren't too bad at lifesaving, especially peach. I prefer spacies, but a good peach, or even falcon have made good teammates for me.

you're supposed to be the supporter
shieks only real kill move is that slap, so unless youre edgeguarding/chaseing off the stage
your main goal is to rack up damage and leave it up to your partner to get the kill
presumably being that your partner is fox with those usmash/uair rapesies
or falcon with his knee's/fsmash/dsmash
the only real characters you have to be super aggressive as a partner with is like peach
because peach racks up that damage much quicker with her dsmash and she doesn't have any real kill moves so just slap them homie

source: from my personal experience. I always played passive while luigi played aggressive, but when i teamed with jtb/brian i played the aggressor. also really depends on the matchup/chemestry boss plays much more aggressive than jtb so i played passively with him.

i always found myself placing quiet well in teams regardless of my teamate but you'll probably ignore my opinion unless i tell it to you in person

also: very important to read tech rolls.

as far as teamates go, try to choose a fast faller. From my experience and observation the best teams are floaties with fast fallers. Floaties tend to rack up damager quicker and live longer so they are ideal for the passive/stock preserving roll while fast fallers tend to have da broken smash moves to get the kills so as long as you hold stocks/rack up damage they can take the risks necessary to kill the other teams stocks.

Use lots of aerials. Don't dthrow when enemy is close to his friend. Edgeguard. Win.

Sheik's d-throw and tech chase game is AMAZING in 2v1s like if your teammate is fox and they upsmash the opponent or sumthin.

And you d-throw the opponent and tech chase one direction with upsmash while your partner helps out. You can cover ALL their options with some grab or sumthin and super **** =D.

Me and Linguini did a lot of me f-tilt into his f-air.

That **** is way too good =D

Just don't dthrow when you can get punished and you'll be fine. I just found that out like a month ago. XD I had never been severely punished before it.. then I fought a falcon/marth team and just got kneed whenever I grabbed the Marth. :( My whole game vs Marth/Falcon is grab>****.. so teams is very hard for that matchup.

Yea I agree. Thats why I like sheik as support. Cuz grab -> throw into opponent is really fast =D.

Her aerials and needles are really useful though :). And she of course is a really good edgeguarder :bee:.

I've been playing Sheik in a Sheik/Marth team, and noticed that 2v1 at some percents we can Marth grab-->Sheik rapid. But on the other hand, my opponents aren't amazing at mashing, so I don't really know where it's actually effective.

Can the rapid lock really work 2v1 at certain percents, and if not/when it doesn't, what are some good 2v1 options with Sheik? Normally we just try to grab and 2v1 techchase=lol.

Also, I read earlier in the thread that dthrow isn't as good because it's slow and punishable in teams. What should you do with a grab, if having your teammate hit them isn't the best option?

Me and Reno teamed as double sheik ^_^.

Reno did a d-throw ftilt fair and I faired my opponent out of Reno's fair.

It was pretty cool.

Double sheik actually isn't so bad and its a LOT of fun XD.

I like teaming as Fox/Sheik and Sheik/Peach more than Sheik/Sheik but I think Sheik/Sheik is very ****.

D-smash --> partner D-smash --> edgeguard combos on space animals all day.

Double sheik is no where near broken stuff.

Their edgeguarding is pretty amazing though. I'm usually pretty aggressive when it comes to edgeguarding too so me and reno get a lot of low percent KO's on spacies. Because if I miss.... there is a sheik on the edge waiting =D.

Hopefully me and reno can record more stuff. The one that was recorded was our very first time teaming. Our teaming is getting better though. :bee:

I place well in my area and my area is much stronger than yours. But whatever you say. I mean, I can post a million things your Sheik did wrong that my Sheik does right, and I'm the best Sheik and Marth in SoCal =).

When I tell people they suck, it's because I am better than them, and if I am better than you, you definitely do suck. That doesn't mean I suck, it just means I can get away with saying you suck without you being able to do **** about it.

wow u had that set with nnja, u were very patient with his fox first couple games.

i dont approve of your counterpicks, not good sheik levels (even though u went peach, which i dont approve of either, but i heard shes better in PAL against fox so i duno).

I may be the only sheik that auto-CP's battlefield regardless of matchup, that level is just rapesiess.

Like i said before i suck at watching teams so i dont have much to say about those.

Nice organization
