People who are citing the Aonuma interview are forgetting that they made Sheik for TP but scrapped it for whatever reason. That's why the model even exists; because they were going to use it for TP. I suppose they just went with the cloak in the end or something, but regardless, I doubt Sheik will get in because the Zelda characters from Melee were all from OoT. Link and Zelda in Brawl are from TP, so there's no good reason to believe that Sheik will be in.

If I'm proven wrong when the game comes out, so be it. But based on the evidence we have at this moment, signs are pointing to "no".
If they were exclusively from Oot, why can Link use the Boomerange?

After the interview:

"What? I said Sheik? (laughs) My bad, I meant Zelda. Keeps happening to me. My god, as if Sheik would appear in the game. That would make no sense at all!"

It all makes sense now!

...I've actually thought about that before, but I suppose he just.. kinda... forgot about her.
Since, you know, she's only the eponymous character of the series.

Cause it translates better in Smash than let's say... the Megaton Hammer or Iron Boots. Besides, Link is the character that in my opinion was the character who represents the whole franchise as one, so his moveset should be a little bit inspired on all Links.

Zelda surely should also represent all Zeldas as a whole, but just think about it... Sheik-transformation is EXTREMELY OoT inspired! It's basically the same as including Cel Shaded Link, and while it's still a possibility, I honestly doubt Sheik or Cel Shaded Link will be in Brawl.

And yeah, what Fawriel said is basically what I had in mind since I read that interview but I couldn't word it quite well... ^^ Thanks for being smarter than me.

I have proof that Sheik is in Brawl.

Aniway, i don't see anything in that vid, and even if Sheik is in Brawl(god i hope not) Sakurai will show him/her in the trailer eventually.

I find it so funny when peoiple use the argument that the Zelda characters ARE the ones from ________, not the MODELS of them.

Looks like this Mario is form Galaxy and Smash 64 was from Mario 64, so they must be different Mario's right? But OH NOES this one doesnt have his little shooting stars and back flip and everything!.
. . . .There is only ONE Mario character in ALL mario games. Same with Samus, Fox, Falcon and ever other non-LoZ character in smash. LoZ is different in this respect seeing as there is always a new character named link/ Zelda.

Show me proof. That interview does in no way confirm them.
Actually, my designers did work on the designs for Sheik and Link and Ganondorf. So they submitted the initial designs, and so it would fit in the Smash Bros. Brawl environment, they’ve had to tweak some of the designs. But Sakurai has brought those altered designs to NCL. We’re working very closely with the team of Smash Bros. Brawl to make sure the characters look their best

Uhhh.... right there.
So saying they have updated models for Brawl means that they AREN'T in Brawl? I win. again.

It doesn't mean Sheik will be a playable character so don't get your hopes up :p

I didn't say Sheik will be a playable character.... I said Ganondorf and Sheik are in brawl and you guys say that they are not confirmd "in any way". More than likely they will both be playable characters anyway. Sheik is the ONLY move of Zelda's that's actually from a game.

Also...why isn't Zelda mentioned?
Ummm.... probably because he didn't do Zelda's design........

ahhh...
here is were the story of ness and lucas come in handy.
kids,"yay story time!"
ok there once was a boy named lucas, he was a very popular boy indeed.
but the american kids didnt get to see him, instead, they only got his freind ness.
they were both desired to play SSb, but sadly, lucas wasnt well known in the states.
so ness was picked, due to his trip over seas.
then over time they said "screw it, lucas is who we need!"
so two games later, we see the original choice of lucas, who is rightfully were he needs to be.

basically, lucas was intended in SSB, melee, and is now in brawl.
they update all the forms of the original characters to save time just incase.
so when melee was rushed, ness was already ready to go, and lucas wasnt.
so who was picked?ness of course!
now that lucas is in though, they probably wont need the already ready ness, since they had the time for lucas to be readied.
shiek was updated just incase, like everyone else.
but she may get replaced, just like ness was, except in a different way.

Oh yes, let's go through all the time and trouble to make a design for Sheik so we can make her a sticker! Great idea! While we're at it, let's spend weeks updating Captain Falcon's look so we can make him an AT! It all makes sense now!

I understand what you're saying but who from the LoZ series could replace Sheik? There are hardly characters that could do that.

If they are going through the trouble of tweaking and making Ganondorf and Shiek look their best for Brawl, it means that they will likely be characters. Seriously, why would they make a TP-inspired design for Shiek if they were just going to use it as a cameo? If Shiek was destined to be an AT because Zelda is TP'd, then Shiek's design would have remained OoT-based and virtually unchanged from Melee...

If you have noticed, ATs and Pokeball characters have much less detail that playable characters, because as cameos they can afford to be less presentable and up-to-date...

Regardless of Sheik being an AT or a PC, she's gonna have an updated look anyway. We have the Ice Climbers that are based on a few pixels, looking completely different. If Sheik was in OoT, she's gonna look a hell of a lot better for Brawl.

The characters Link and Zelda are representatives of the main characters of the whole franchise. Even though the story has a few of them, Link is always identified as the same one person outside of the Zelda timeline.

Attention, citizens!

This is an official public service announcement.
*clears throat*

"Effort" is not an issue!

Thank you.

Seriously. Fox's Final Smash is a huge tank. Pokemon Trainer is one character with 4 models. Pit's Final Smash summons one huge Palutena model and numerous Centurion models. The Animal Crossing stage changes its look according to the seasons and has a concert at a certain time of day just because it's cute. Pokeballs and ATs summon models that occasionally even display AI and different moves.
The list goes on.

What I'm trying to say is: The hard work of updating Sheik's model is an elaborate and colorful fart in the big picture that is SSBB.

Yea, but he did the playable character designs for 2 characters already, so we assume the third (Sheik) is a playable character. Ganondorf is confirmed just as much as Luigi is.

I doubt the guy in Melee said "I did the model designs of every Zelda character...... and the Majora's Mask trophy."

Then again, poor translation and no mention of Zelda?
