It could also be just for the fanart... Wayforward does like a lot of fanart.

You know half of me thinks they dropped the whole “we have one more announcement” thing because they knew people would think it’s a Shantae in Smash reveal, so they decided to drum up teasing for later on when they reveal that Shantae is in fact playable. And the other half of me is more realistic =P

Also, I’d like to be added to the list of supporters for Shantae as well if you please Yellowlord Yellowlord

Yeah true, but you do have to ponder if they know the meaning behind the art. Nothing can be confirmed of course, but you do have to wonder...

I'd really like to know how it would because I don't believe it would've. If anything, having her announced would get indies more recognized.

Even with her not announced, it brought in the viewers who cared if she did.

Uh, but the other games?

All the recognition would just be for shantae if it was theoretically announced.


Besides, given how small all of these indies are, i don't think even we could prepare for how low the expectations would fall.

I'll take you up on that. I'm not too knowledgeable on Shantae beyond what the first post says, but the transformation mechanic is enough for me to be intrigued and approving of her. After all, I support Prince Sable, a less likely character IMO that has the same shtick. I'd be happy to see it represented one way or the other because that's a fun moveset and playstyle waiting to happen.

She's feeling like a sort of dark horse candidate in speculation. Popular enough to be feasibly chosen as a ballot character but not so that she appears on all the fake leaks and prediction rosters. It's interesting, honestly, especially with the behavior of WayForward and Matt Bozon in particular. Makes me want to follow this tale to the end.

Well, to be honest, if they're under an NDA, liking a fanart post with Shantae going 'shh' is the farthest they could go.

Might as well add myself to that list, too. I've been one of the guests following the stream for most of the past two weeks, but figured I should just make an account and pledge support for her already. (Maybe that'll be useful for understanding the guest userbase on this thread lol.)

Unlike a number of people here, I'm at least 80% certain she'll be playable in the game, (due to all of the reasoning that's already been beaten to death on here, so I won't list it all. :bee:) and of course, 101% desiring her. As far as I can remember, this is the most I've wanted a character in a Smash game, and like everyone else, the suspense is KILLING me. The thing that's keeping me going is to keep on being optimistic, even if it means unrealistic expectations. (I try not to get too carried away though) So even if it seems bleak, let's keep on being positive guys.

It is certainly possible(And this is coming from a Geno supporter), but yeah, we will never catch up to Issac.

Please remember: number 3 on today's smashboards does NOT mean number 3 on yesterday's ballot.

As for Elma, they've recently had their share of suspicious dev behaviour(TM), so they've got reason to have a uprush of votes.

I'd strongly recommend the game. I'm playing through it right now and it's pretty great.

Xenoblade is like Fire Emblem as well in that you don't really need to know what's happened in a previous title in order to play a game in the series. They're all pretty much standalone titles. Also, tons of work goes into the game. If any game franchise deserve to get promoted with a playable character, I would say Xenoblade in a heartbeat just because of the amount of work the developers and team put in alone. And it definitely could use the exposure.

Frankly, I wouldn't mind it if Elma, Rex/Pyra AND KOS-MOS (she's actually from Xenosaga but hey, she's in XBC2 and is a Namco icon) got added. xD

Just another debate topic to be thrown in there, but in light of the Nindies Direct logically not featuring Smash, where/when do you guys think Shantae is most likely to be announced, excluding a Smash Direct?

(For example, since Half-Genie Hero was initially released on Sept. 30, 2016, could that be a likely reveal date?)
