Hey this is my first post here and my reason for making an account started with asking this question......What do people generally use to SH double fair? I use the c stick twice but can only consistently do it that way when facing the left.....weird i know. But some friends have told me the proper/easier way to do it is by using a (or even z) for the first fair. I use A when fairing immediately when leaving the ground, but I ALWAYS full jump when i use A. I just can't sh idk why.....Just wondering what people think is the most efficient/common way of performing the move

It is easier with A or Z, but better to learn with the c-stick. The c-stick allows you to do retreating aerials, and just generally gives you more control over your character. With Marth, precision is extremely important.

I know what you mean when you say it's easier to shdf with c-stick when facing left. It's awkward for your thumb to move from x or y to push the c-stick right...

what mers said is completely accurate though. Just practice and you'll get it.

yeah it definitely is a lot easier to move it to the left....The other way is awkward. I wasn't sure if there was a more reliable way to do it consistently that people generally use by perhaps using A or Z, because I've practiced with the c stick a ton but still can't do it on command 100% of the time (barely at all facing the right) and it literally seems impossible to me, for whatever reason, to use A or Z and SHDF. The fair comes out immediately but I can't seem to do it without full jumping .....If c stick is the best option more practice with the c stick it is then....thanks

im having some trouble with it too, i picked up marth a bit ago. its just a speed thing, learn to quickly go from whatever jump button you use to the cstick

yeah i find its easier going left too lol

I was just talking about this the other night. I use the stick both ways, but like what's been said doing it to the left is 900x easier

I haven't seen a SH double fair thread in ages!!

Real answer: I roll my thumb off jump to A for the first sh fair.

Learn to claw grip. Better than any previously mentioned option.

in short SH double fair sucks. you can get hit out of them and it puts you in the air to long. wavelanding Fairs are much better.

^ Rising sh fairs are usually bad in general.

If you do land a rising sh fair it's usually better to do a uair after. It's got better frame advantage on shield and is better for comboing at low percents.

But yeah, sometimes you hit them with rising sh fair and waveland is the best option to follow. You have time to react to their trajectory.

I've been exploring this more and have found some decent uses for it.

I like retreating double fair where the first fair hits their shield spaced really nicely, the 2nd fair seems to hit any type of attempted oos response to the first fair.

I like it as a tech chase. Rising fair hits missed tech really well and then you just react with another fair if the % and DI calls for it. Can lead to epic ****.

Just claw with your right hand. That's all that's necessary anyway.

I use z for the first one.

I have never seen anyone hit out of a shdf between the fairs.

It's usually used for comboing floaties out of fthrow type stuff, right? Shfair-uair is what you do on spacies shields and stuff.

van the benefit of c-stick is retreating fairs which you can't do optimally without it if you use A or Z. It's harder to the right yea but still pretty doable just gotta practice it a bunch.

Well learning how and when to use fair is way more important. When you learn how and when to use it the perks wth it will come naturally.
