Over the last week or so, good ol’ SamuraiPanda dug up some brief snippets from Sakurai that we didn’t really take too much note about, as they weren’t really too newsworthy by themselves. Or at least so we thought…

But I’ll get to that in a moment

CoroCoro comics recently had an article in their May issue about Smash Bros Brawl, and with CoroCoro’s past history of revealing new Pokemon games and information, we were hoping we might see something new. Sadly, it was just a rehash of stuff we already knew (other than CoroCoro having a contest to draw your Ultimate Smash Bros Brawl character)

Now to the juicy stuff.

In the latest Snake vs Zombie radio show, Sakurai mentioned that he should release news soon. While most weren’t expecting anything (he said he should, not he would/wanted to) we certainly weren’t expecting <a href="http://smashbros.com"> an update to the Smash Dojo.</a>

In 7 days (8 for Japan and other areas in a similar timezone) “something” will happen. Wether it’s just a new site, a new site with info, new characters being announced, new stages, items, gameplay details…sorry, getting excited.

Basically, in 7-8 days, something is happening for Smash Bros Brawl. What it is exactly and how much of a deal it really is, is unknown, but it must be pretty big, and as soon as we know, you can garuntee we’ll keep you posted.

Does anyone else ever feel bad about living day to day, every day, thinking about Brawl and related news?

Seriously though, this awesome “news.” Could just be a new look for the site, but if they went through the trouble and blatant showy-ness of making a countdown… there will probably be some news. I just kind of hope they don’t reveal like… EVERYTHING even though Sakurai said they would. Just give me the release date, and I’ll unlock the characters on my own thanks. (That said, I wouldn’t mind if they showed a trailer with a bunch more Melee characters.)

I’ve been living day to day hoping for some kind of new Brawl news. And this kind of news about news makes me super happy that I have something awesome to look forward too. But then I think about the negatives… like waiting 6 hours to download any kind of video(s) that are released. Hah, I hate dialup.

Whatever, 6 more days and something awesome is going to happen, YES!

How many characters? Didn’t think already say there will be about 40? Or are you looking for an exact number? Number of stages would be nice to know I guess. I for some reason have a bad feeling we’ll be getting less or about as much as Melee.

I don’t want to get my hopes up about this possible incoming news, but I sadly already did &gt;.<I>.

Hey, if it doesn’t have anything new, at least the initial excitement and the three minutes it takes to check every page on the new website will STILL be more exciting than anything that’s happened since November.

There are only a few aspects of the game that really need tweaking but the overall experience I feel should be very similar to that of gamcube. Its the old saying, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” and if they try to get too innovative with new moves it’s going to be a new game… not a sequal that builds on the world already created. The only move I truly want added is ariel grabs and even then I wonder how they can keep the characters so balanced with it.

Personally I don’t want the physics to change all that much (just less glitches), it would also be retarted to have a roster even close to that of gamecube… I’m talking bigger, the jump from 64 to GCN was decent, but the increase in media size alone from Game Cube disc to DVD means there can be about THREE TIMES AS MUCH DATA then Smash Bros. Melee.

I understand graphics increase will take up that room… but I would be 100% happy with a game that looks like the Game Cube version but with options to customize the hell out of it in every way. Options can help make any game suit any gamer, and if online play is a strong sales point for the game, gamers will want a way to have their character stand out or at least be more of a representation or avatar of there real world personality.

Anyways, these are thoughts that I want to be adressed when this huge mystery is revealed… what are your thoughts on these ideas… please tell me I’m not the only one who dosen’t want alot of change so much as options added.

Coopst4: I understand what you mean by having your characters seem more custom when playing online. But I doubt that will be done in Brawl. Now maybe we’ll get something like Mario Kart with the little drawing over our heads, but I think that will be the extend of it.

Who knows, maybe we’ll get some crazy surprise… we certainly got some when transitioning to Melee from SSB.

Does anyone remember the exact wording of Sakurai’s very first post on his website. Paraphrased, it said that the intitial webpage was merely a debut, not a luanch. I think this new countdown signals not only some new information, but also the begginning of regular updates to the Smash Bros. website.

I hope they don’t release absolutely all information, partly for the suprise and excitement that it would take away from actually playing the game, and partly because that much Brawl news after so long of a drought might be overwhelming and hazardous to some. Hopefully they’ll leave some secrets to discover just for playing. I’m really hoping for a definite release date, and some confirmation on any more third party characters like sonic.

Man, Ive had the ‘dojo as my home page since it was made, and It came to be quite a shock when I went on it and it said the server was gone. When I went to the main japanese/english page, it gave a countdown, I was excited because that had to happen moments ago. I’ve been watching this game since the first trailer, daily, sadly, its unhealthy, I just hope they do a lot on the site. I mean, I’m even going on the site on my mobile just to see the number go down. Ive come to the conclusion that the number goes down at noon pacific time. So by the time Im having lunch on monday the dojo will be up. Anyone for a ssbb luncheon?! XD

I also have an unhealthy appetite for all things SSBB, I check here everyday, check the main site everyday, and commune on smashboards everyday. I would love a ssbb luncheon lol, but I think its coming out at 1am in Australia…. so no luncheon for muah.

Boy o boy me and ssbb, the game has really got me high right now, I watch both of the trailers about 3 times a week every week, i know its unhealthy but , its all i can do, with this countdown happening and the re launching of the site i think when all the media exposes from it ill read each page for and hour each and i would soon faint from seeing something i totally didnt expect an underwater level or something. And the page cant just be new color schemes and and all the old stuff re-worded because what concrus said Nintendo.com, says it will be an major update so….going to go watch the second trailer now.
