The summer is looking dry on tournaments in Norcal. I am sure I am not the only one who wants to be in shape when the regionals start coming around. As some of you may know I usually host sessions at my house composing of a few people. Last couple times I made this thread I got a good response. Usually I have 1-3 (3's pushin though, I have a dinky house) people over and we play from 1ish to 10-11. If you want to get better, I guarantee this will help. I am here to extend that offer to almost anyone. I am constantly striving to get better, and I want to see other people get better to. I do well at giving advice if asked. Most people have their own clique of people they play with and only mingle with others at tournaments. One of the better ways to get better is to play a lot with someone you do not usually play with. This offer is to get you and me better. Most of the times I have bob money over too, so it does not have to be just me.

I do have a few requirements if you want to come play:
-Got to L cancel and wave dash consistency
-Desire and drive to get better
-Active, or plan to be active in the tournament scene

Not hard requirements. I would like to have at least a couple days notice when you want to play so I can plan accordingly. As the thread says I live in Walnut Creek and my house is a 10 minute walk from Walnut Creek BART. I can meet you at BART, it's not a problem. I will start having people over this Friday. I have to limit it to 2 people a day, I will do 3 if pushed. You can post your interest on this thread or contact me on aim at ZodiakLucien. So who wants to play Melee?

I absolutely love these threads. One of the best players in the community offers themselves as a means of getting better for others (as well as himself/herself). Thank you, Lucien, for helping out the community with this. People of NorCal; novices, arcadians, and ranked players; please take Lucien up on this offer. I know I would if I lived 6 hours north. Let Melee thrive. Don't let this opportunity get away, guys.

I'm kindof interested in this... I've been playing a lot of Link lately but I guess if I plan on getting active in the tournament scene I should get back on my Marth.

I can WD consistently now--

I can L-Cancel most of the time but I don't really know what to do with it yet.

If I did come over to play vs you, it would be you helping me get better, and me helping you quickly fourstock people to make a bracket progress faster and a tournament end on time.

Lucien you wanna play some day next week?

I'm really bad against Sheiks, and super technical Foxs, so hopefully you can help me in those match ups.

I have played you before, and you should really just start practicing more tech skill. It is not something you can just skip, it is very important. You need those things to be over 100%.

Most of my saturdays without tournaments are free since I plan them to have tournaments in them. I think there isnt a tournament next week if you want to play then

Yea we can and next week should be fine. Just let me know a more specific date when you can come up.

I'm a relatively new player from San Jose, and I might take you up on your offer once I figure out my work/class schedule.

HI, im new to the area of norcal and i would love to get better since im really sub-par and my wavedashes look like pregnant women running. I would really appreciate any/all help you can give me.

One of my biggest problems is a peach dsmashing on a platform. I feel that its impossible to get around at high level of play and it makes her undeniably broken.

Up throw rest on samus makes the match up 85-15 IMO

I am very interested in coming to your house and learning the fascinating game of melee from a top level shieka =]

Its ssssssoooooo broken. I've lost to peaches that sit on a platform and slap the c-stick down. I cant get around it, i think it has invincible frames or something

people usually just talk to me and then we set up a date to play. I just got hired as a full time employee for my job over summer. So I will have to see what my hours are. I will still play with people but the days arent going to be as consistent as I posted on the first page. The only person who got a hold of me for a day to play is sfat. The day he is coming is full on people I can have at my house.

I hate to say it, but you're totally right. I'd say my biggest weakness right now is that I can't get rolling out of my head. I know that no tournament-level player uses the roll (unless they main Falcon, and even then it's sparingly), but for some reason, whenever my enemy is behind me, I find myself rolling so I can end up facing towards them. I guess I should teach myself how to turn around and jab?

As far as tech skill, I don't know-- I never miss L-cancels with Link, but Link is too low-tier to be tournament viable. I'm just not fast enough to learn Fox (I sometimes find myself missing short hops with him ><) so I guess I could pick my Marth back up. I'm not sure what exactly I can do to practice tech skill with him. I tend to like to L-Cancel with R, and I seem to notice that I don't have the timing down for an L-Cancel when an attack connects, only the timing for when it whiffs. I guess more practice against level 1s?

I definitely would love more help on my game. I need to get a lot better at a lot of different things. I can consistently WD and LC though, so I guess I meet the minimum requirements. I played Darrell at the last tournament in a friendly and he three stocked me, and I 2 and outed at the tournament. I especially need help on the Samus - Sheik matchup.

Do you have time at around 5:30 or 6 anytime this week?
