lol, im using a mixture of SnS and SA. seeing as my sns is water element its shocking vs. gobul and kludroth
but i jsut beated gobul and now im onto the tundra. gogo baggi's
i just need ONE quality sponge or ONE barroth scale to upgrade either of my weapons. fml XD

Barroth weapons are shockingly bad, except the barroth switch axe, which is only decent bcos it has paralysis(even then it still needs awakening, sux)
go for the quality sponge upgrade from RL... you should look at this too: http://monsterhunter.wikia.com/wiki/MH3:_Sword_And_Shield_Tree
it will give you an idea of what is good and what is not, but straight off the bat, the best SnS's IMO are Nardeboshe, Almighty Dahaka, Morpheus Knife, blazing falchion.
you should probably focus more on the iron path than the bone path... more awesome ones there.

well you dont technicallyneed awaken for the barroth sa, in sword mode it has paralysis but its really not reliable to cause paralysis that way, you find you have to keep reloading. But yea, you do really need awakening with it. Barroth weapons look good because of the high damage, but they have bad affinity that offsets the attack

haha, i need barroth stuffs for SA, and spongy stuffs for SnS.
in reality the SA is only for when i mfighting a thing thats resistant to water element. cause thats the direction my sword is going in.
+i lack funds so im not really going to buy everything.
also, this morning i went to do the 'hunter killer' quest (barroth, great jaggi, with a qurupeco that occasionally appears and calls for a muthafkn DEVILJHO!) and forgot to get whetstone. barroth is impossible to fight with a fully weakened weapon TT_TT

dude, make a second sns then, when i started out i had 1 sa and 3 different gs' for different things. One was fire, one thunder and i cant remember the last one, think it was my rusted one though so would have been dragon. Surely you ca spend some cash for another sns.
Seriously though, you should see what i have now. Got so many gs (Alatereon revolution, anguish p, elder monument, lagia wildfire, ancharius sword, ratholos flamesword, high chieftan greatsword) and a few sa's too (Bastion blitz p, Great demonbind g, some sort of volt axe which i rarely use) I wanna make blade of talos too, have a para gs =P

Basicly, just be as diverse as you can, it srsly pays off...and always make sure you got 20 wetstones
