Okay so. I have no time to blog, but I'd love to have suggestions and hopefully.. Even sources. In 3 days, I have a 'conference' to do in English class and my other 2 teammates don't know what topic to choose.

2012 was taken. Swine flu also. There's that guy who suggested to talk about Obama receiving racist treatments (he showed us a couple of stupid lines people had said about him).

Do you guys have any suggestion on subjects (news) that are relatively easy to pick-up?

I'm already busy with a few researches (I shouldn't have been sleeping so much and lazy while I was sick, f*ck.)

Well, there were about 5-6 natural disasters just within the week.
2 typhoons in the Philippines
Earthquakes in Sumatra, Samoa, American Samoa, Indonesia, and California
A tsunami

Yeah. Lots of disasters.

I can think of this. I've heard a lot of this in the news lately.

Thanks! I'll take a look at it in a moment.

Just do it on like drinking or violence or something.
I can't, it's got to be 'news'... And she doesn't consider such things as news.
*Thousand curses*

Yeah. Lots of disasters.
Problem is, we can't really discuss about it... "Okay so, lots of people died... What's your opinion?" "Well huh, this is atrocious. And you there?" "Ah, hem... Yes, this is very saddening :ohwell:."

It just wouldn't work :dizzy:.

*Goes back to do more research on Grigori Rasputin...*

I don't know how long your paper/ discussion has to be, but here's something prevalent in today's society:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/09/24/hiv.vaccine/index.html

A potential vaccine for HIV that can reduce the general contraction rate by 31%. If you need to fluff it up, mention something about morals of the study, such as giving people a placebo to prevent HIV. "Would you like to take part in a study to test a HIV vaccine?" "Yes" "Here you go [ placebo]." Now you have HIV. Only in Thailand :(

You could also talk about the impact on modern society - i.e. people having more unprotected sex since HIV can be "protected" against. Consequently this could stir a slight increase in teen pregnancy. This probably WON'T happen, but it's just food for thought. One of my classes already had a 20 min. discussion about this so... yea.
