Synopsis
Upon the news of Detective Kerry's murder, two seasoned FBI profilers, Agent Strahm (Scott Patterson) and Agent Perez, arrive at the depleted police precinct and help veteran Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) sift through Jigsaw's latest grizzly game of victims and piece together the puzzle. However, when SWAT Commander Rigg, the last officer untouched by Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), is suddenly abducted and thrust into the madman's harrowing game, the officer has but ninety minutes to overcome a series of interconnected traps...or face the deadly consequences.

Rigg's citywide pursuit leaves a wake of dead bodies, and Detective Hoffman and the FBI uncover long hidden clues that lead them back to Jigsaw's ex-wife Jill (Betsy Russell). The genesis of Jigsaw's evil is unveiled, exposing the puppet master's true intentions and the sinister plan for his past, present and future victims.

1. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, Saw rules.

2. I watched Saw 1 and Saw 2 and they were brilliant, I loved them. The twist in Saw 1 was incredible the first time you watch it, it seriously made the movie. Saw 2 wasn't as good for me simply because I loved the fact that Saw 1 was based primarily in that one room. However, the twist in Saw 2 was also brilliant and
the scene with the pit of needles was highly memorable
.

3. I never got the chance to watch Saw 3. However since I want to watch Saw 4 I will watch 3 ASAP.

4. The trailers for Saw 4 look amazing. The trap scene has an excellent concept although it's execution seems rushed, maybe it's not the finished version. Can't wait for it!

Not my cup of tea... I like horror like the old vampire and zombie movies, not like the torture porn of the Saw series. But this kind of trailer released tells me that halloween is coming soon. Time to get fat on fun sized chocolates again. :)

Abra abra cadabra. I wanna reach out and grab ya!
I was never a big fan of these movies.

The first one had a cool concept, and some of the scenes were truly epic, but it wasn't enough to warrant three more of 'em.

Than again, you can say the same thing about Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th, but they still keep cranking away those movies.

To me, Saw 3 was not too good, trap-wise
but story wise you'll be blown away yet again. But you MUST watch Saw3, there are many things you need to know story wise, or you won't be amazed at how it's resolved in 4

You have to see the rest of the Saws, story twists and brilliant concepts, enough to warrant more of them, and probably the reason there's going to be more of them is because they're successful money
One of the very few series to make more cash than it's predecessor
all the movies grossed over 50 million
has the record for being the only franchise in hollywood to be released consecutively, once a year around halloween

With numbers like that, the story for SAW V and SAW VI are already in the works, Tobin Bell already has contracts to make a ton of more movies with them

I can't believe a movie as bad as "Saw" would spawn 3 sequels and become a franchise. Have some taste, people.

You're just in the minority, as most torture-movie lovers often tell me Saw is the shiz. I must admit, I'm not really into the genre, or "Torture Porn" as Assasin put it. I have read the story of them though, and I do think it's clever. Of course, the Saw 4 may well be the movie where they jump the shark. Sequals can't be great forever.

Everyone to their own taste. No one is being forced to watch it.

I for one, appreciate the twists in the storyline and the ingenuity in the traps.

The first one had some good reviews, but the majority of it was negative. It's been getting worse and worse reviews the more of them that come out.

Really?
Oh, I have always been told by my friends and heard in the air that it was "My God, the BEST lot of films ever! Like, this chick has like, this jaw lock thingy, and like-It nearly KILLS her! omg."

They're not going as well as I'd heard? Hmmmm.
So...everyone here is just a fanboy of the series then? :p

I don't particularly like any of the Saw films. I don't particularly like these kinds of movies in general..but hey, if people like them, they should keep making them!

Three things:

1. Lol @ "It's a Trap" on the poster in the first post.
2. I just got done watching the first movie! That ending, was, AWESOME! I never suspected that!
And where Jigsaw put the key was just genius!
3. To all of those who are saying they don't like the films, and haven't watched any of them, watch the first one! I usually don't like horror movies, but this one was well made!

Tomorrow I'll watch Saw II, then the next day Saw III.
I can't watch too many, or I'll get nightmares >.>

Start there! Anyways, I'll definitely be seeing Saw IV with some friends! ;)

I did see the first one; it was far more infuriating than scary. I lost count of the number of times somebody had a gun pointed at "Jigsaw" and just LET HIM GO. Worst case of "Stupid Victim Syndrome" I've seen in a long time.

The traps were contrived and unrealistic, and Jigsaw's motivation is not in the least bit believable. He has apparently limitless skills in mechanical, chemical, and biological engineering, and a LOT of time on his hands for someone who's supposed to be terminally ill. Maybe he should have looked into curing his disease instead of torturing people to "teach" them life lessons.

I'm sure he could have figured something out. I mean he can build elaborate mechanical contraptions, construct a state of the art monitoring facility, do thorough investigative reporting on all his victims, and recruit people to do his work yet keep them in the dark about his true identity. That's quite a disease that gives him such VITALITY and ENERGY to do all these things, I can understand how he might feel so anguished by it. :dizzy:

Ugh. When the played the trailer, the theater I was in, filled with people who'd like **** like this, actually groaned.

Saw 1 was ok at best. The ending I actually predicted because they never made mention of it and that's a bit odd. Saw 2 was boring, Saw 3 sucked. I see no reason this won't either.

Why can't companies just make one movie and leave it at that?

Just finished watching Saw 3. I found it mediocre. The twists in the storyline weren't that amazing, but
I liked the flashback scenes involving Amanda and how they tied up the films.
If I had seen the movie earlier I would definitely have predicted there would be a fourth movie. Hopefully there will be an improvement in the traps, the traps in 3 weren't as good as I thought they would be.

He could build elaborate mechanical contraptions, because he was a long time toymaker. He didn't do that much thorough reporting, as most of the people that were his victims were people around the hospital he was in. I'm guessing he has the Vitality and Energy because, well... he's gonna die soon, so I would move quick too

Companies don't make just one movie because of the money. Saw has made tons of money, and each sequal topped the other one, which is rare, and which is the case with the Nightmare in Elm Street Series.

So expect a SAW 5, and 6, because their script is already in the works

Love never blows up and gets killed.
Saw was a brilliant movie and Saw 2 was worthy to be called a sequel. Saw 3 isnt a bad movie, but they are drifting from what they once were. Saw 4 will NOT be a great movie by any means, but I will watch it regardless.

and for those of you who don't know they ARE making a total of at least 6 films. 5 and 6 scheduled to come out in October 08 and 09 respectively.

Well to answer one of your questions, producers chose not to finish the series after Saw 1 because it obviously was a very high rated movie and whenever money is involved it seems they keep getting crappier and crappier. Hollywood knows people will watch the new Saws anyway.

The only reason "Saw" was rated so high was that it was a breathe of fresh air in the stagnant pool of movies. It sucked in retrospect.

Saw was one of the greatest horror/thriller movies to date. The plot is beyond awesome. The twists and endings are great! I am excited to see this one all though I am a little scared seeing how the same screen play writer(Adam) in the first one. Was not a huge part of Saw 4 so it's hard to say if it will meet the expectations of the others. Looks great though the trailer.

Your right.
Saw 1,2,3 is odd.
Why don't they make ONE stinky movie instead of a second.

Then I watched the opening scene and that was pretty awesome, who knows

Saw 1 was great and had a nice twist.
Saw 2 was full of "dumb" traps, which made the movie harder to believe in.
Saw 3 actually had a really nice ending, but the movie overall was long for no reason. Some friends of mine said it didn't worth watching it, but I thought it was superior by far to the second movie of this series.

So if they pull a successful Saw 4, I'll be both impressed and happy to learn more about Jigsaw's past and see awesome and gory traps. So far, I've enjoyed the youtube links (two guys fighting reminds me of
the black man in Saw 2 which had a number on the back of his head and fought the other man who had a baseball bat).

Looking forward to it :)

I loved the first one, but the only good thing about 2 was Donnie Wahlberg. Didn't bother with 3. Also, when the big guy finds out about numbers, it'd have been easier just to TELL HIM WHY. They'd get out twice as fast.

Instead, he says nothing, only "turn around", which sounds like **** time...

Clever and brutal traps don't make a good movie. They make effective torture porn.
pssh, fine, whatever you say, I do in fact like seeing people die in cool ways that isn't in videogames, we're sick like that

but I could care less for the traps and just want to continue the storyline, I think Jigsaw is one of the coolest villains and want to see what he's all about

I SAW IT

and It was awsome, Jigsaw truly is a legend
anybody else saw this?!
I think I know why I like the series so much, it's not because of the gruesome torture pornography, which is definetly present on this film, it's because of the smartness
I get the same feelings watching this as I do watching Prison Break, watching all the questions get answered and get answered in such a creative way that you just have to admire it, the movie was brilliant, but people who haven't watched the series, or don't pay close attention to the details, will find it very confusing.

Also, sadly, I think I've witnessed the brand new Jigsaw guy, and yes, it was a big surprise. People who saw the movie, don't spoil it

Guess what? They are making a Saw V and a Saw VI!!!

I liked the movie a lot. There were a lot of twists and it suprised me. The beginning was pretty cool (with John Kramer). At the end the new Jigsaw suprised me a lot, how he just walked out of the trap. >_>

****, Det. Matthews had it worse than any other person.
he gets chained in a bathroom, bashes his own foot to get out, gets captured again, then stuck in a cell for 6 months, only to become a pawn in some other guy's game and end up getting his head crushsed final destination style. :(
