PLG is just so ********.
Ignoring the fact that it's an obvious rip off: Not only did they siphon off half of the pot at the last tournament in secret (around 600$), they changed the rules in the middle of the tournament, tried to ban ICE CLIMBERS (!), didn't organize the wii's until a day before (one didn't even have every character), and generally neglected the smash bros area in favor of the halo one.
Furthermore, the rules they updated are just a copy and paste of the rules from this site; better than the last tourny I guess but... they missed a few steps. They didn't move the stages from starter/counter into starter or counter, same with the counter/banned ones. They also didn't delete the message stating that the placing of such stages is up to the Tournament Organizer. Clearly some guy found the rules and simply copied them all onto the official site; if that has slipped by since they put it on there months ago, how much brawl representation do you think we'll get? Exactly none, we'll get an area with a few tv's to play in, and they'll take half our pot for it.

On the other hand, it's right after finals... lots of noobs too. In fact, it will be all noobs. :/

If Monty's going, I'll try to go, even if it'll suck.

I think PLG didn't take time to think out that some Saskatchewan highschoolers would be doing their finals those days.

Also, Rob, it's okay if you hate Brawl, just keep it to yourself.

What would you say if I made fun of your D&D?

Oh, and I'll probably use Meta Knight if I go, just to piss off everyone.

Edit: When are we going to start doing the bi-weeklies again?

I see there's a lot of negative feedback about PGL, that's a shame i know they didn't do too well with brawl at their last tournament but maybe they will turn it around this time. If not then well I'm done with PGL (ssbb wise anyway). Oh yeah and the dates are actually June 26th to the 28th, sorry about that.

I'm down for starting weeklies. Seems to me that we can just go and use those uni. rooms whenever we please on those weekend days, we might as well do so.
How is this Smashkatchewan anymore? Saskatoon and Regina have completely separate events, and we don't even see each others' tournament results.
Rob, are you still down for the bi-weeklies here?

I can post and such, but I'm out of a job and need to actually go spend some time with my girlfriend. I can leave it to you, right Cole?

I can supply a Wii and Gamecube, but I'm fresh out of TVs. I'm completely down for some weeklies. Oh, and since PLG is the 26th to the 28th, I can go. I'd like someone to post a site with all the information on the where and when, though. I can't seem to find it on PLG's site.

No problem Rob.
You might not have found the site because you were searching PLG instead of PGL? Someone posted a link to it a few pages ago too.
So I guess... Weekly tomorrow? I've got a large tv and Monty's wii at my house. Transporting it is the problem.

Senior skip day today.

>_<

PLG sounds better than PGL, because of MLG.

Anyway, I'll probably show up at the university around 1 tomorrow, regardless of who shows up.

If we don't find a car by tonight, I'll post a warning not to go. Can't smash with no set-ups!

"****ed over" implies that it was intentional. This is just a misunderstanding.

I suppose I should really get to those fliers and send an image file to someone who has more time to spend at the university.

Lol, I don't care. This is the fourth time, and I'm cool with it.

I'm doing whatever I can to get this going.

EDIT:

I really think we should make a new Saskatoon-specific thread, made by someone from Saskatoon, so Blitz doesn't have to tend to tournaments he can't come to due to fanancial problems, etc. I really think we need some better advertisement, too. We could do something on noob sites, etc.

I'm getting to the fliers, already. Might as well say "Sup, everything is now weekly", too.

Which brings me to my next point: Meets. FFS, Saskatoon and Regina (and me) all have to get together sometime to get those rankings in order.

I'd probably be playing some Melee now too if I still had a copy, but otherwise I just don't have a reason to go to Regina. I'm probably going to start playing in the fall for when Eric and Connor get back from Australia.

Anyway, Cole says he'll take over Saskatoon organization. Llumys and myself can obviously help in and out of his absence. I'm also going to ask Cole if we can use his dad's house as a place for weeklies, unless new people talk about showing up. Otherwise, Trevis and Mitch will never show up, and we might as well not even have them. It's ******** that we don't even have enough steady players for a 5-man PR.

I have a laptop; I'll download the bracket programs and start saving the tourny results every week. Is there free Wi-Fi at the Uni?
No changing back to Melee for me now, I'm devoted to Brawl.
I don't know about the weeklies at my house yet, I'll know when summer begins. Fliers will definitely benefit the community, we need a good 10 people playing at least.
Kat and Greg and Sean and Reginars have my GC and copy of Melee still, since CAST4.
Connor and Eric can **** well play Brawl, I'm not going to face the gloat kings after they've practiced all year, plus our not-so-secret training weapon Minus plays Brawl only. Maybe after this next weekly I'll make a new thread? and update it every week with results + PRs if we ever have enough people.
Mostly this thread's use has become extinct with the Great Brawl/Melee split, forever dividing Flatland into two separate yet proximate dimensions.
A few things for the agenda then:
- Fliers, top priority. We need fresh blood.
- I've been ranting to Monty lately about the need to establish working doubles teams. Whenever people just suddenly make a team before a big tourny, even if the team works wonderfully and places well, a team which has been practicing together for a while always seems to be the one that knocks the former team out of brackets. Monty says he's teaming his MK with Travis Woods' Marth. I'm down to team my Falco with Trevis' Diddy, or my Diddy with Llumy's Luigi (Luigi ***** in doubles!), but we should play some friendlies and check things out before we make any decisions.
- We need to organize a big Brawl event in Sask sometime this summer. Monty was talking to Kat about the possibility of us piggybacking a Brawl event onto Flatland 2 this summer, IIRC. We should definitely figure that **** out.

We're gonna tack on SF IV to weekly or biweekly meetings once the new uni sem starts. I don't know if it'll be on the same day, after Brawl, as these weeklies, or if it will just be on Sundays, but it will be done. Start brushing up your skills, we'll have a lot of asian challengers from the cove at the start, methinks.

Kat has your Melee and GC.... I am surprised it took you this long to say that it is yours.... we thought it was one the the guys who left to Australia.

Also its Flatzone not land.... and I highly doubt we will be having another tourney....

Also Id just like to say im done with playing smashbros competitively for personal reasons...
good luck with the weeklies, I think its a poor choice switching to brawl but thats not my decision.

It was nice seeing you a couple times.

Anyway, I'll do anything I can to help our community grow. I don't have any gamer friends that are particularly interested in competitive Smash, so I guess we'll have to rely on those fliers, because I think none of us could get anyone by word of mouth.

Um, I don't know what to say to this?
I might go there, if it's not the same weekend as Ness Creek and especially if I don't end up going to T-dot.

Flatland lol. Whoops.
We choose to play Brawl not because we think it's better than Melee, but because it's a different (read: not better) game that we prefer to play. It has a newer competitive community, that is striving (except in Saskatchewan). I don't see how it would be a poor choice to make, although you could say it is a choice you yourself would not make. Anyway, sorry to see you go. Bye.

Yeah fliers are definitely necessary. Rob, are you still trying to get your friend to make some up, or should I just make some?

Sean: ;_; Wha? But but but.

Monty: Oh yeah. Dude, I can hook you up with a new Melee.

Llumys: Uhh... You don't quite yet understand how patching works, do you.

Minus: Oh. You were so opposed to it previously.

Cole: I'm still working in it. Also, Preston should have more time come fall. I might, if I have a job and moved to Regina for U of R, but that's not incredibly likely, since I can just take my first year of U of R here in Yorkton. What with my wicked cheap rent and all.

You guys are going to need more than just fliers to keep new people, though.
