Quick miscellaneous question:

If there was a single character(s)'s reveal which would build the most anticipatory excitement within you, which character(s) would that be?

By this, I mean personal character favorites that you prefer considerably, not hype-building or promotional characters you expect but are not emotionally invested in. You can decide whichever character you want as your most anticipated, whether a veteran such as Captain Falcon or Ness, or a potential newcomer such as Ridley or Takamaru.

I haven't been too overt about my predictions and wants in Smash 4. So this will be the first time that I admit to anything of the sort. I think that Jigglypuff would build the most anticipatory excitement within me.

I literally have only two problems with this roster; if you count Pokemon Trainer's pokemon, Shiek, and ZSS, that's 52 slots, which I think are too many, personally. And I personally see Toad as more likely than Bowser Jr.

1. And is there ANY proof that it was because Sakurai didn't like how his moveset turned out? Geez, I thought it was just because he had somewhat low relevance at the time and got out-prioritized by newcomers and dat 3 time vet! Also Pit got his moveset changed because he wanted to represent stuff from KI:U most likely and I see no reason to suggest otherwise.

As a Pit player, I will freely admit that his specials were lackluster, probably contributed by having very little to work with. To put it bluntly, Angel Ring is redundant with Mirror Shield and while in theory Wings of Icarus sounds broken, it suffers from really nasty gimping. Mirror Shield and Palutena's Arrow are fine, though the former is admittedly situational and the latter is slightly broken.

So basically, in a sense, his special attacks being overhauled is for the best.

So you give Chrom 5 movesets instead of adding 5 characters=??? Seems legit.

But realistically, you gotta give me something simple and yet profound for each stance before you even begin to make me consider the other side. I assume what you are saying is essentially how Mega Man's power absorbing works: as different moves instead of the "FIVE CHARACTERS IN ONE!" concept that would drain a roster.

I never gave him five movesets? There's not even two complete movesets there.

If you want the abridged, then here.

Sword/Falchion: Focuses more so on strength and durability. Higher weight and greater healing, short range.

Lance/Spear: Focuses more on reach and spacing. Lower weight, less healing, includes a projectile.


Nifty things can happen when the sets are linked together in sequence, perhaps even setting up inter-stance combos. Chrom would not be "five in one." He'd be one character with a few different moves depending on an input.

Don't make him cut characters. You shouldn't make anybody cut characters. It's impossible to do it well. I have a total of 52 and I'm perfectly content with it. As long as you don't have 55 you should be fine.

Don't get your hopes up. You should really give up on him, his chances are literally about 1%.

Well, I'd be surprised and excited if the likes of the most popular characters get in, the ones everyone talks about, so I will be different.

I would be very excited if Ashley from WarioWare got in. People would understand that I love her to death, and she's up there as one of my most wanted. So if she ever got revealed, which is a big if, then I'd be content with this game 100%.

Explain "expect" because I have faith that if he gets in, which is very likely IMHO thanks to the amount of popularity it would bring the game, many people are more regretting the possibility than that of his actual inclusion. And like the Wii Fit Trainer, I bet he'll be a ton of fun to play as.

We all should've expected characters from casual series, Wii Fit and Animal Crossing were popular franchises, yet we didn't care that they could warrant a character.
I'm talking other WTFs, but historically important characters like Harry, a Hanafuda character, and Diskun.

I do not recall even mentioning a desire for Chrom as a playable character (and in fact even stated I would desire Roy over Chrom) or even that he has a potential moveset that would differentiate from Marth or Ike. I would prefer if you can at least properly address my statement correctly. My memory only recalls calling out the fallacious move-set double-standard that certain Roy-supporters use against Chrom-supporters - namely, Chrom is a questionable character inclusion because he would be a potential clone, but Roy is acceptable even though he could also be a potential clone.

Never-mind the social Smashboards stigma against semi-clones (correct me if I'm wrong), I cannot see why even being a semi-clone is detrimental to a character's chance in the first place. Both Chrom and Roy, even if they were semi-clones, would still be available for Masahiro Sakurai's character selection process. Why both opposing sides use the "we don't need semi-clones" argument against each other's characters, but then defend their own characters being semi-clones, I do not even understand.

Just so we can be as clear as crystal, I am not a Chrom-supporter, so do not place me within that encampment.

I normally think you're a bit odd in your choices, but I have to agree there. There's been a character that could be considered a "history" character in both Brawl and Melee, so why wouldn't it happen again?

I don't really want any cuts.

I don't think anyone does. However, I would love to see the following changes of unconfirmed veterans (I'm not including Final Smash talk BTW):
-Dr Mario: Crazy new moveset... or just be an outfit.
-Diddy Kong: DKC roll please. Everything else is pretty dang well off generally.
-Ganondorf: New-ish moveset. Oh, and don't suck.
-Zelda: Don't suck. If changes are needed, do them. Oh, and don't make her reliant on Sheik. That's dumb.
-Sheik: Play more like Melee.
-Zero Suit Samus: More kicks, and a faster grab with less vulnerability if you miss.
-Yoshi: A better recovery please. Maybe a third jump or a longer (held) 2nd jump=??? Oh, and a better functioning down B.
-Kirby: Stick out from Meta Knight more. Oh, and make his down B better.
-Meta Knight: Less kill power. Oh, and do a lot less damage to where Meta Knight is really combo reliant.
-King Dedede: More diverse offense and more moves that are more useful.
-Falco: Maybe a new side B or up B, as well as a new down smash.
-Wolf: I'd like a new down B, a new-ish up B, and probably a new neutral B. Then, he's not even a little bit of a clone (Black Landmaster = totally unique).
-Lucario: Be less generic (more crazy exciting potential realized please! Like Project M!). Also, kill the aura system.
-Jigglpyuff: Smash 64 + Melee Jigglypuff = perfect. Please ignore everything Jigglypuff did in Brawl. It was an abomination.
-Pokémon Trainer: Kill the stamina system, and make each Pokémon feel more independent.
-Mewtwo: A almost entirely new set of tilts, smash, and aerial attacks.
-Pichu: A ultimate gamble character; high risk, high reward. Oh, and don't be a super clone.
-Captain Falcon: Melee mode or GTFO. Oh, and make his recovery not balls. Also, Infinite Falcon Kick needs to come back.
-Ness: New up B please. Oh, and give him more range.
-Lucas: New side B please. Maybe a new forward Smash while we're at it. More range for some news would be nice, too.
-Mr. Game & Watch: More functional all-around offense.
-Roy: New moveset, new-ish playstyle, and an awesome new skillset. Oh, and be faster.
-Wario: SHOULDER BASH NEEDS TO REPLACE THE BITE!!!! Oh, and an improved up B. Hopefully some more Wario Land moves, too.
-ROB: Lots of new moves, and a less camper-friendly style.
-Snake: Better hitboxes, bigger booty.

I know. I disagree.
I think Fire Emblem is great though. I just like Pokémon better.
I don't even know why I said it, FE and Pokémon both have their merits, and there will be many different opinions.
Honest, they're two completely different games that are very difficult to compare.

To be honest Pichu was kind of the Gen 2 Mascot so he had every right to be in Melee of all Smash games. I actually wouldn't be surprised if Pokemon encouraged Sakurai to add him.
