Yes.. but how would Starfy be an interesting choice as a fighter? Spin around? Dash into enemies? Spray water? Use a clam? Does that sound very interesting to play as, as opposed to Ridley or King K Rool, who would be better roster picks, in my opinion (and a lot of other people).

You know what doesn't sound like a very interesting theme to base a moveset around? Fitness. Yet we're getting one, and it looks well-made and interesting, and has already gained popularity. You want to know another character that didn't sound they could contribute much interesting? Captain Falcon, all he did was DRIVE A CAR. Obviously Sakurai could give Starfy an interesting moveset if he was so inclined.

I'd be lying if I said I'd played a Stafy game, being British the high ups at Nintendo clearly don't think I'm ready but if Sakurai can make a moveset for a robot toy, a yoga trainer and two Eskimos then he can make one for a starfish.

Don't get me wrong I don't want Starfy and agree Ridley and King K are better choices in terms of importance to Nintendo and fan approval but Starfy would not be uninteresting, every smash character requires time to learn how to play as them and has their own pros and cons, Starfy would be no different.

Well, it wouldn't be to advertise Tropical Freeze. If anything, Diddy's reveal would. K. Rool, I feel, is over all more important to the DK series as a whole.

A new style of play, a new series represented, a hugely wanted character by Japan, etc.

A moveset mainly consisting of spins that allows for great aerial game, including his ability to glide, while on the ground he could be more momentum-based, focusing on getting quick hits with his small frame and quick speeds. He'd also be a character that could have great water-game, assuming the swimming feature returns from Brawl. Maybe he could even use certain attacks in the water. His various costume changes leave many opportunities for mix-ups.

Third, always assume DivineDeity hasn't played a game if he's talking smack about it. xD Go back a few pages - his entire opinion of Mother is based on the fact that he has never played it.

Those questions are best left to Sakurai. That could be said about any potential Smash character, the potential is whatever he decides to make of it. Again, not defending Starfy but questioning your reasons why you dislike him. I don't want him because I don't think he's big enough, hasn't made it to Europe and already has representation as an assist trophy. Bashing him based on a potential moveset is, unless you're working on the game, not your station.

Yes to that. Only I would say Starfy is at Third or Fourth. He's got nothing on Mac or Isaac, but he has just a good a shot as Saki.

Knuckle Joe and Waluigi over Starfy my ass. Bias aside, DD, you have to agree with N3ON. WFT is already one of the most popular characters so far, and I've seen tumblr posts all about her. I don't even see Megaman that often. Sakurai added something new and innovative to the roster, and he succeeded in creating hype. If Starfy is added, it will gain hype. And it will most certainly be something we've never seen before.
