Because reaction videos are never exaggerating. You'd probably use the same reaction when a bunch of people said they liked Twilight over Harry Potter. I'm simply expressing an opinion that Bomberman is better and more creative than Pac-Man and I'm entitled to enjoy whatever video games I want. The post had nothing to do with who is more likely, I'm just honestly surprised Pac-Man is more well liked. If you think Pac-Man is more likely that's fine. But, if you like him better that's your own opinion.

If you have a problem with it I suggest you get over it. If people like video games better than other games it's not a big deal.

I kind of see Starfy becoming a COMPETENT Assist Trophy before a full-fledged character.

Except Starfy has FULL Move Set Potential. That's like disregarding Issac by saying all he does is shoot hands. You should google him.

Is Starfy really that popular? I mean us Europeans haven't even got any of his games yet. Not that that's ever stopped Sakurai in the past (Mother, Fire Emblem) but I have no benchmark to gauge his popularity.

I'm not saying he should or shouldn't be in Smash, I'm asking a genuine question as to whether he deserves the move from assist to playable when a good chunk of the world have no access to his games.

Well, I'm stickin with Bomberman, especially after googling and seeing so much S*** pop up about Bomberman, all his past Anime, Games, Fan Spoofs, Artwork and even Smash Requests. All that crap. I figured if Pac-Man is popular for being a classic icon, and Mega Man is being represented as his classic self, that there's no reason we can't do the same with Bomberman. I mean if you don't count the compilation, Mega Man's last game was as far back as 2008, and Sakurai decided to not even represent him as his modern form. So basically I don't see the difference with Bomberman. I'm sticking with him and if you disagree that's fine. I agree Pac-Man is likely and I even added him to my signature of biggest predictions. I get it Pac-Man is the most well known. More than Mario, Sonic, Snake, Mega Man, and Bomberman. But, I have my reasons for Bomberman.

I know nobody wants to talk about this though so let's just move on to something else.

he's moderately popular in Japan. each game did sell at least 200,000 copies, with the exception of the 4th game actually. no where near as big as Mother or Fire Emblem. but the series did alright.

Considering that Bomberman is now owned by Konami I really can't see it happening. I doubt Snake will be removed. If he is and Konami want a rep it'll likely be Simon Belmont and no 3rd party will get two reps for practical reasons. What does giving Konami two reps say to the likes of Capcom, Sega and Namco?

I've been playing Bomberman since I was 3 and love the fella' but it ain't happening.

I question this too.

He only had ONE game released internationally. And the rest is Japan only.

His assist trophy in Brawl didn't exactly give us that much of an insight on what he could do. If he were to be revealed as a character, I'm sure most people would remember, before all else, his Assist Trophy role.


But this is just me of course. That's the impression I'm given.

The funny thing is that Mike Jones from Startropics (on NES) was considered for Brawl, but was turned down because his series was never released in Japan, yet we got Marth & Roy in Melee (Japan only at the time) & Lucas in Brawl.

Given Starfy has only seen limited release, decent but not incredible sales and decent but not incredible reviews I think his assist trophy role is perfect. He's a Nintendo curio and just because a moveset could be made for him doesn't mean he should.

Compare him to the other limited release smashers- Fire Emblem was a Japanese juggernaut for years before it came to smash, Mother was cult hit with a partial western release with Earthbound hitting America and finding a loyal fan base. I don't think Starfy has close to the support he would need to overcome the fact over around a third of smash fans have never got the chance to play his games.

Yeah... but that's not a good thing for Starfy, as he can get knocked away before even having a chance to show off his weak little spin.
You look at other characters and:

Knuckle Joe: Has a super fast flurry of punches that finishes off with an insane lightning punch.
Little Mac: Jumps around then dashes forward striking a 1-2 blow, finishing with a star punch that KOs opponent.
Waluigi: Pummels you to death with his foot and racquets you away.
Saki: Shoots, jumps, backflips, dashes, slashes, KOs.
Shadow: Chaos Control.

Stafy: Spins around, deals little damage, deals no knockback, and can be jabbed away.


I KNOW he can have a good moveset, what I'm going for here is the first impression ALL Brawl players (that don't know him) get from him and the rest of the Assist Trophies.

I really don't think the 'good moveset' argument holds a lot of water. Sakurai has already announced that two of his newcomers are a yoga instructor and let's be honest, just a person. Someone who's defining feature is he lives in a village with trees and animals.

The man could make a half decent moveset for a constipated horse.

Though I would probably respect Sakurai a bit less if it were true, since he DID say that he would include more Japan only characters, but consider characters from the West as well.

Smash idiots are everywhere, this doesn't really EFFECT you much. Sakurai's not gonna say "Oh, well I can't add Pac-Man because only idiots want him, and from now on I declare all Smash Fans to be idiots, especially Hotfeet444 of Nevada." It's not going to change the game and it doesn't make you look bad because SmashBoards is a rare site full of logical people so it stands out.

I felt bad enough smacking Pichu in the face back in Melee. But if they add yet another tiny, cute, throw pillow character to the roster, I don't know if I can handle it. Especially if we get Ike back and I'm throwing his giant man sword at it. (That sounded far worse than I intended.) This new Mega Lucario though, I wouldn't have any problem being up against him in an Ike fight.
