I feel after watching that Nintendo Direct, I feel very confident that Tom Nook will be in the game.

For what reason? We already have Villager, and Tom Nook didn't exactly play as big of a role in New Leaf on part of his nephews running the shop and Re-tail being your primary source for cash. He doesn't seem like a high priority or obvious addition to me.

but don't give Metroid another rep, and basically no Ridley. 4/10, and that's being generous.

Meh, I always felt like the "Sakurai doesn't care about size" argument to be a little flawed. For one, all the "human" characters (Ike, Marth, Samus Link, WFT, etc.) Have accurate life-like proportions. The more "cartoony" characters (Kirby, Olimar, Bowser) Don't bear the burden of remaining perfectly in line with their sizes from past appearances since its not as comparable to real life, they can get away with that. I feel like people have a problem with Ridley's size in particular, is due to Samus' realistic proporions, which imply that, being from the same franchise, Ridley would have as well, which would make him too big. Shrinking him might not work as well, since he's from franchise that's easily associated to real life, and basically players seeing the giant space dragon they could once compare to be about two stories taller than themselves suddenly a couple of feet higher than Samus could prove awkward aesthetically to some. Just my opinion.

I just can't see why he's necessary. I wouldn't mind it, but the Villager seems to be good enough representation of AC overall.

I think the fact that AC got any characters at all is more than enough for a series previously not taken into serious consideration as far as playable reps.

Is Animal Crossing deserving of a second character before others get their second or another franchise is represented? That's a question to ask.

I am aware of F-Zero's condition. I guess I've overrep it, then.

And for Metroid I cannot find good Metroid character other than Samus herself. I am always skeptical on Ridley due to his gigantic size and his SSE boss status.

Nawwwwww, friend. WarioWare doesn't need a second rep as it is, but let's say it were to get one. Why Ashley? Mona and Jimmy T. both have much more personal relationships with Wario (does Ashley even interact with Wario once during WarioWare's bare-bones plot?) and they've both appeared in precisely four more WarioWare games than Ashley has - Ashley was missing from Mega Microgames, Mega Party Games, Twisted, and most recently Snapped. WarioWare only has 8 titles if you count Game & Wario, so that means Ashley's been absent from precisely half of the games in the series.

I know number of games doesn't count for everything, but that coupled with Ashley's lack of interactions with Wario puts her low on the list of Wario reps, when he probably won't be getting a friend to come along in Smash 4 as it is. Including Ashley over Mona is like including Dark Samus over Ridley - that is, it's not a bad rep when you initially look at it, but further inspection reveals that there's faaaaar more deserving reps from the same series.

IF you count ZSS. Regardless, both are fine to get another rep. Hell, most series are. If they have a justifiable character, why not?

Doesn't matter because Star Fox has enough characters. Not to mention Krystal's staff is a little outdated and she doesn't even use it anymore. Sakurai isn't really known for representing StarFox Adventures. All SF reps have the same moves so she doesn't even fit in.

Too many spots taken by pokemon, so there should be transform some sort of, like Red.
But, there aren't any gen starters famous enough. Having to switch between previously playable Pokemon would be annoying and disappointing. It would take a lot of Dev time as well.

Geno, Naruto, and Homer Simpson CAN happen, but that doesn't mean it will. Villager basically deconfirms Tom Nook as the character representing the series. Tom Nook is completely pointless. That's like making a character from a Game & Watch game alongside Mr. Game & Watch.

Moveset potential
Poo is not a main character from Mother, FE & EB only have main characters. Plus Poo is a completley random choice. Porky and Ninten are the only remotely possible ones to pick from.

They were in FEA.
Lots of characters fight together in games. They were a team not a duo, they just helped each other out in battle. But they are 2 different sizes and abilities and having 2 rather tall swordsman does not work like having 2 small hammer Eskimos. It's pointless anyway and their move set would have to rely on eachother to work.

Sakurai was at first afraid to add Kirby reps in Melee because he was the creator. Also Kirby has all the main characters necessary and Waddle Dee is perfectly fine as part of King Dedede.

The roster rating you got is completely fair. I think you need a 2nd Metroid rep too.

That doesn't change that Villager represents the entirety of Animal Crossing. Just because it warrants a second slot doesn't mean there are ANY other good choices for an Animal Crossing character. Animal Crossing is fine with just Villager when are you going to end this?

Again, what if Game & Watch warranted a 2nd rep? Sure there are characters in the Game & Watch games but, Mr. Game & Watch's move set represents all of them.

Its not that I don't want him. People who're against Ridley usually always use the "too big" argument and fail to deliver when ask for another reason, due to the fact that its literally the only thing barring him. I used the comparison because, despite the unrealistic manner of the games, people usually look for ways to relate things back to themselves. Which is why alot of people think that about Ridley, and compare the other humans to things in the real world, as its easier to see and comprehend.

Plus, if we want to play devil's advocate, you can argue Luigi in comparison to Bowser and Peach. I don't think you can do that with Tom Nook or Ridley, for examples.

Both are fine to be in, but mainly because he's had more smash games, I think Ridley should be off on a priority first, but if we get Tom Nook, sure.

Tom Nook's recognizable to the series enough to probably be the second assumed character. The question is, will the series get another character? Not probable in my book, but hey, who knows.

I recognize his icon fully. Some of us expected HIM to be the Animal Crossing rep. It's just that having both is needless and just doesn't work. I edited my comment to explain why. I mean the fact that Sakurai chose the Avatar of the game is enough reason to assume there won't be another rep. And again he represents Animal Crossing fully. If you were just going to add an actual character there'd be no use for the Avatar being in the game.
