That is generally how I feel, characters like Chrom and Roy are instantly recognizable, as such, they are immensely popular. I mean, even characters like Anna are more recognizable. No doubt the Tactician is important. But, choosing him/her based on the notion that they are MORE unique is utterly fallacious. I mean really? We should add Robin over Chrom the Great, just because they also have magic in their potential? Really? That is one of the most insane reasons to choose one character over another.

Edit- I don't mean that objectively. I mean in this specific circumstance as Robin doesn't offer much more than Chrom.

Protagonist of Awakening(seriously; who makes all the decisions? Chrom just lumbers into danger like an idiot, claiming it doesn't matter because Robin's brains will get him back out of it), can be female something we lack whilst not being an obvious Marth clone, isn't restricted to swords only, won't be another lord character(if that matters I guess)...

Also the Antagonist of Fire Emblem Awakening, thus giving us our first Fire Emblem Villain of note. Basically gives us a lot of firsts; first female, first non lord, first magic user, first villain, first non sword reliant Fire Emblem combatant, etc, etc

Anna overall isn't a bad choice if you want a character that's actually guaranteed to appear in future Fire Emblem installments. That'd be sly marketing.

Nope, just changed to Fight Club Mako because Mako is awesome and her outfit is awesome.

So because the character wears sexual clothing I'm not able to like a strong independent character regardless of what she wears? This sounds like most of the poor arguments against Kill La Kill in general. Buddy, my favorite character in gaming is Felicia from Darkstalkers, and it's NOT for her body in the slightest.

In all seriousness, more people should support Black Shadow. It would be so easy to impute Ganon's move-set to Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome. You please the Legend of Zelda fans that want Ganondorf to resemble his series. You please the F-Zero fans that just want a little bit of recognition. You add a villain, something the community collectively wants more of. I mean, what are the negatives? He isn't "shoe-in"? F-Zero is irrelevant, thus a highly loved character should be neglected? This makes me very despondent.

He offers being one of the few mage Lords(and yes, he IS a Lord unless you want to try and say that Micaiah, Alm, and Celica aren't) in the series, not to mention being a way to represent what looks set to become a recurring gameplay element(a Player crated character, which has also appeared in FE7 and 12).

I only support the Avatar as a "last resort" Awakening rep. Honestly I'd be fine if Awakening didn't get any playable character in Smash 4. However, if forced to pick an "Awakening character", Robin would be my go to choice.

same here, especially with the avatar esque characters we already have: Pokemon trainer, villager, and wii fit trainer (to an extent). Id rather have a character who will have their own personality, and one that will be the face of the game they hail from. Chrom and the others could still show up in other FE games and FEXSMT, while i doubt robin would ever get outside of his/her game. And we know damn well the robin in this game will more than likely not look even close to the one most of us had ours looking like in the game. Weve got other mages so theres that too, but the only way id be cool with robin is if they are paired with another to represent the partner system in some way.

Dude, I'm all for jokes and kidding, but not when it comes to my favorite character. No, it's not because she can lick her own crotch, it's because she has a great personality, very vibrant and full of life, a roll model to following your dreams even though they seem so distant, and SO much more. If you believe you can do it, you'll find your way, which is a life I tried to follow. She did what she needed to become a singer, regardless of whether the world would support it or not thanks to species prejudice, and I follow my dreams to be an artist/video game designer, regardless of the horrible childhood I had and people always telling me I can't make it. Stop looking at things from a face value, of course she's beautiful, but there's much more to her than that. She fought hard for what she believed in, as do I. So please, would you kindly never joke about that to me ever again?

That would just be an updated design, wouldn't it? You don't have to support a Fire Emblem newcomer. If you think Marth and Ike are the only characters, so be it. You don't have to arbitrarily think that another newcomer is going to be in the game like the rest of us.

You don't have to look in the past to make sense of it. Just look at brawl. Things were confusing with rare around the time of Melee. We know Nintendo owns everything now. You're comparing adding the second most important candidate of a series with one rep to adding an Unimportant rep of a series with 5.
