Probably because the Yoshi series doesn't really have anyone else after Kamek, Baby Mario, and Baby Bowser.

I hate it when people are able to logically disprove my teenage mind, and I have nothing to complain about besides my flawed logic.

Because I love that generic enemy.

Each to his own, but I personally prefer the idea of Kamek.

Most of these are pretty obvious except Cranky Kong.

Cranky Kong: Important to his series, somewhat popular, unique, to see what would happen.
Ridley: duh
Palutena: duh
Takamaru: Popular, unique, another blue haired swordsman.
Little Mac: duh
Isaac: I think he is more likely than Shulk, and he would be unique. He is also pretty popular.
Reggii: just a generic Mii, but it is Reggii's Mii.
Mewtwo: duh
Robin: More unique than Roy or Chrom, pretty important to series, popular.
Pac-Man: Popular, I think he is better than the other 3rd Parties.

I want to, but I have no idea who to replace.

I think it's a fine roster, it has the staples, and the more variable choices who are still good choices such as Avatar, Isaac, and Cranky.

And remember just because these are the characters typically seen by us doesn't mean the more casual will have the same reaction. The majority of them probably aren't expecting like half those newcomers. It's plenty varied imo.

EDIT: That said, I would change "Reggii" to just the regular Mii. At least in name.

2 many series have 2 many characters. Personally I'd cut one from DK and FE. Maybe Mario and Kirby too. And yeah, I'd throw Takamaru in there, or at least one retro. Sakurai has already hinted we'll be getting one.

The wrestler would be a good obstructing AT, shame Nintendog and Resetti probably have that role monopolized.

An AT could also be cool, but I realised a cool gimmick that would make me really want to play as The Wrestler.

Anytime the audience cheers, The Wrestler becomes extremely powerful! Him taunting around also makes it more likely for the audience to cheer for him, as well as preforming attacks and movements close to the 'beat' of the music playing in the background. This would make him quite a technical character, but also really fun. A real cool character to show off with.

Exclusive for deaf people though...
