Im usually playing my friend who is a pretty good peach and every time I go for a recovery he hits me with a turnip and then again and again. Any tips on what to do to avoid being hit and getting back to the stage easier?

REDDRAGON, Don't call anybody any names for the way they responded unless they do it rudely. If he sweetspots, he'd be much safer and he may or be sweetspotting.

You said "fools" after bailey's post. Hes a very knowledgable player and you aren't so don't be calling him anything offensive, I've watched your last few posts and you aren't showing very mature posting habits.

Swipe the turnips down with your f-air and you'll be fine.

well Ive tried that but usually the turnips are coming at me from above so Id have to uair and fall a bit more with the lag that comes after the attack and then Id just die

Good peaches often know how to hit you with turnips almost whereever you are off the stage. If the turnip is coming from directly above you, you'll most likely be close enough to up+b anyway. If you get hit by the turnip out of your up+b, there's a good chance you'll be hit TOWARDS the stage, in which case you can probably get another chance to up+b. A good general rule is to save your second jump until you know it's absolutely safe to.

I'm imagining husband would have good advice since he gets a lot of peach experience even though it's probably been answered somewhere in the marth q+a thread.

I made a tread a while back asking about catching them when you're recovering and being edgeguarded with turnips. I don't think most people understood the question, but it's worked for me whenever I've tried it.. just don't always do it.

As Randizzle said, try to force the turnip to knock you towards the stage..most of the time its going to cause you to bounce into it so you better be learning how to tech consistently.

But you should be able to use f-air and swipe them down unless the peach is floating out above your head and directly dropping it right on you..your fair's attack reach is great so unless its directly falling above you, it should be hit by your fair.

What if he is trying to sweetspot but the turnips are hitting him before he gets there?????
Now telling him to stay low and save his secound jump is something that WILL help him....
Stay out of my way thebluedeath....

lol stay out of your way? Thats really weak...

You are a relatively new player with average knowledge about the game, as anyone can see from the threads you make.

You haven't been here long so don't try to act like you're all big and bad..only hylian, ka-master, emblem lord, cactuar, etc can do that.

Sweetspoting the edge is good advice and so it staying low. but you had no right to call anyone a fool for their advice as the topic creator wasn't specific.

But you are the one that needs to stay out of people's way, you called someone a name for no reason and your other posts aren't very mature, you really need to change your attitude if you want to last around here and keep your account from getting points and being banned.

This topic pretty much has all there is to recover now.
Swiping the turnips with the fair
Sweetspoting
Using the turnips knockback to help you recovery

there isn't really anything else.

Don't EVER use uair if you're trying to recover, there's far too much lag after it before the game allows you to register another jump/upb.

Love you too kevin, just please, no more STDS...

If you have your second jump, stall with the over-b to dodge the turnip and then jump and up-b...just something else to mention.

If you can barely make it to the ledge you're basically dead but if you have some time try different things. Mix up your timing between your b-sides, second jump and b-up. Try b-siding or jumping away from the ledge and then quickly b-uping to it. Basically, do whatever you can to not get hit.

There's a vid somewhere of Kizzu hitting a turnip upwards, Up Bing into it, getting knocked towards the stage and Up Bing AGAIN onto the stage... Hehe, that was priceless.
He did the upB into the turnip because he couldn't make it to the stage, so he went away from the stage to hit the turnip, which allowed him to do another up B, and the way the turnip hit him made it possible to return to the stage. It takes a lot of experience to even think of doing something like that.

I tried doing that in desperation at a tournament once, it ended in hilarity. Slightly early up+b = getting knocked even further away. Fortunately, I still won that match.

Generally what I do is I try to be below the edge, just enough so if they try to edge hog me I can make it back still. basically against peach you really have to be smart and be 2 steps ahead of them. if they're turnip spamming you, you should probably try to fair them away your best bet lol.

then again my peach experience is very small sooo I'm probably not the best person to be giving advise.

yeah i think catching them would work the best if you can. ive dont it a couple times when on the stage but if you can do it off the stage and then cancel the next turnip that comes at you by throwing the one you caught that would probably work. of course, none of my friends use a peach so i cant try it myself.

When recovering, attempt to fair any turnips that come your way and save the second jump as much as possible and attempt to sweetspot the ledge.

It's near impossible to get hit by the turnips if your low enough. Before that, fair turnips. Watch some M2K Marth vids vs PC's Peach.

A note about using the turnip to recover - I believe that Marth has to hit the turnip straight up [fair] , float slightly towards the stage, Up+B into the turnip, and then recover normally.

You mentioned that you tried going lower, and recovering from below, but Peach just threw a turnip straight down at. Well, since you've been saving your jump, try double jumping away and fairing - this will give you the elevation you need to hit that turnip. It will also give you better spacing to sweetspot the ledge.
