Unlike the brethen who continue to endlessly sully my name in the fraternity that I happen to occupy, I actually plan to do something a little different when under fire.
Reclaim my name.
Here is the skinny. On Saturday, 9/26/2009, I replied to a thread by a user by the name of NessySmashBros called >_> Should I be here. I took a deviation from the normally good-natured approach that I have been applying in the time I have been in the meet & greet.
His intro follows below:
And this was the only beef that I had with this post. Nessy was a member for nearly 17 months and has posted a decent share in a previous time here. This is the only reason why I replied the way I did.
However, if the story ended there I likely would not be writing my first blog. After seeing this response, I blew a fuse and became very flippant--to say the least--in my approach to replying to any claims that I may be taking this a little too seriously.
Well, a few hours passed, and around 200 on 9/27/2009, I sent the inquiry to the Q&A thread (as seen above) after considering my approach in this thread and hoped to get some closure on the issue. I waited for about an hour or so, but there was no response. So, I went to bed.
After waking up this morning, I checked the thread again and found a blog
that Nessy made on the subject. Apparently, he was banned permanently from the site. I will state on the record here that I had no influence on his ban and had nothing to do with it. This is also doubly confirmed by Nessy on the blog that he made, and by Amorasaki as well. About an hour or two later, his ban was removed, and I was considering possibly typing up a formal apology to Nessy due to my acerbic behavior on his thread. Before that happened, I got a new private message in my inbox.
Well, considering that my actions--whether or not based on a valid cause--were very jerk-like (something that we as members of SWF strive not to be), I have no qualms to said infraction. However, some of the actions I saw in the Nessy blog's made my behavior pale in comparison, to say the least:
This leads me to the following two conclusions:
For the people who think I get a thrill from back seat modding: You couldn't be any further from the truth. For the 3 months that I have spent on the boards (& the 1 month I have played competitve Melee), I have strived to show the highest respect of all members on the site, whether meeting them online or offline (except for Hooblah
). There are multiple instances in which any potential row between another member & me that may have occurred have quickly been diffused by just talking things out. For example, between Chibo & myself or SNO & myself (there are more, but these are two that stand out for me.) In addition, I would also hope that not everyone would not throw the baby out with the bathwater and assume that a post from me on the Meet & Greet=trolling. I have done too much good work on the M&G to let that happen. ![Wink ;) ;)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
On a more important note: I would like to formally apologize to Nessy for my actions on his thread. Sometimes I have been known to blow a short fuse, and I am deeply sorry that you had to have witnessed. In addition, as someone who is trying to give people an intro to the site which will let members have a sense of community and belonging to the site, I felt I let myself and all of our members down by my actions. If there is anything that I may do to help you towards this end, please do not hesistate to ask me.
Thank you all for your time.![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)

j/k)
EDIT: Well it seems that somebody finally answered my question. In short, all members are allowed one post in the M&G @ any time while they are here.

My first reply is below:Kk, Imma Super Mod on AiB but I came here coz alot of the active british community are here and I wanna keep up to date with whats going down. I have been a member here for some time but only just started to look at something other than the frount page. Also I have to admit the forums are more active >_> But yeah...I'm Nessy (But I have to have this name coz someone else has ma name GAHH!)
I love melee. I main Fox and second Peach. I'm not that great at it but I hope to get better.
Brawl is...ok for the lolz. But I don't think a great deal of it. I main Yoshi and only Yoshi in brawl.
Oh and I live in England, Bedfordshire...I think thats all that needs to be said :/
My initial response was not based on a response to an urge for me to "mini-mod" as the accusations have claimed, but rather a inquiry based on this point, which I raised to Amorasaki (the brass which deemed it necessary to infract me for this thread) & also posted on the Questions & Suggestions thread for Mini_Mic & Killjoy as seen below:As you are not new to the site, you have no purpose posting here. As such, no intro from me.
Next time, read the rules (http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=57017) and follow them.
I would suggest that this thread be closed.
As this comes to press, I have received no response from neither three. I am not sure what to take away from that, so if any of the three would like to provide a reply, they should feel free to do so.I have a question which is intended for the brass of the Meet & Greet (viz Mini Mic & Killjoy).
Are all users allowed the creation of one Thread in the Meet & Greet (which serves to introduce themselves) regardless to the amount of time they have been on the site and/or post count?
E.g. X is a person who is a Smash Lord & has been on the boards for 2 years and then decides today to post an intro thread. Is that permissible?
Thanks.![]()
